They are missing the most obvious thing! The Wendy’s 4 for 4 is code for L to say he knows there are two shinigami! 4 in Japanese is a cursed numbers because it can be said as “shi” which means death. “Shi” = “shinigami” now he says 4 twice! Meaning that L knows there are two of them and is mocking Kira I can’t believe light didn’t notice this
I kind of hate how you're right; in retrospect, now that you say that, and given the prominence that trope in Japanese culture (well, as filtered through Japanese media anyway), that IS obvious.
@@illseeyaonthedarksideofthemoonYou don't get rich by saving either. Not necessarily anyway. Invest and plan. Instead of saving your money use it to make more money.
Misa: “Can we get Taco Bell instead?” L and Light: “Taco Bell?!” L and Light: proceed to stare into space blankly, muttering and chuckling randomly for one minute and seventeen seconds
Well, from a practical standpoint, they can get themselves the Taco Party Pack and all have about four tacos each. Not the worst choice for Taco Bell for feeding multiple people.
Taco Bell also had the slogan “Yo quiero Taco Bell!" Which if you heard poorly, could sound like “Yo Kira, Taco Bell.” So Misa was saying she wanted Taco Bell to both Light’s identities in a subtle way. Also, Taco Bell’s current slogan is “live mas” meaning live more. So Misa was saying if L didn’t want Taco Bell he wouldn’t live more.
mas, sounds like the word mass, which gets confused with weight by non physics experts. There must be something with more “mass” to it more important. You’re right he cameras! Killing me, L, wouldn’t help, while the camera is on you This message is too obvious. You are also trying to just buys more time. I am about to blow this whole thing up.
@@frankwest5388 The creator of Death Note, Ohba has also said that Misa's name came from the word 'kuromisa', which is japanese for 'black mass' - mass as in a religious ceremony, like catholic mass (except the satanic version because it's black lol). With 'live mas', Misa is actually referencing L's looming funeral being livestreamed to the world's Kira supporters, the religious ceremony more like a... kuromisa.
I know it's the point of death note but yeah. In a real world, the authorities would just be like "welp. Lotta people died from a cause we can't figure out. Bummer". L's reasoning is impossible, there are too many other possibilities he dismisses as he always gets closer to the actual correct answer because the author said so. "Plot logical reasoning". Similar to sherlock holmes fake reasoning.
I find it even funnier because canonically Misa is capable of formulating a secret code like this that only Kira/Light would figure out but she tragically cant keep that level of intelligence as consistently as Light or L. I'd love more of these.
@@mathrbd790 After the potato chip incident, it's not that farfetched to make dramatic statements while overthinking the most mundane of things, all while Misa is just being an airhead.
@@TayoEXE As someone who hasn't watched it, that honestly has me concerned, cause too much of this shit can become boring quick if not done correctly. I'll just have to draw my conclusions when I eventually watch the show.
I wish there was an alternative death note comedy between the three! Where L and Light overthink the hell out of every single thing with Misa as they investigate and get into slice of life situations! This is hilarious!
So if anyone is wondering why Light ended up punching L, he did it because he noticed that Misa obviously wanted to have a change of plans regarding the Baja Blast, as it would garner suspicion towards them both if L suddenly died near them. Misa questioned whether Taco Bell had a Big Mac. A Big Mac is a McDonald product revolving around hamburgers. The hidden meaning here however is that the word "hamburger" comes from the city of Hamburg. Hamburg itself is a municipality in Germany, who were a large power in World War I. World War I was noted to be overly gruesome, especially in the Western Front, where Trench Warfare ran rampant, involving large amounts of CQC, or Close-Quarters-Combat. To further solidify the true meaning Misa was trying to convey, Light thought about the Big Mac itself. Being 2 words and enclosing 7 characters including the space, you can make another phrase that falls within these limitations: "Punch L". Whew, that was some quick thinking Light! L seemed to be just one step short before you struck!
Matsuda: By the way, I forgot to ask, who's the coffee for? *Light and L glare at each other menacingly* Misa: Honestly, I sometimes wonder what's going through their head. They've been doing this for 2 hours straight.
Misa : Matsuda, you don’t think Light is… Matsuda : Oh no! She’s going to try and convince me Light is not Kira and meddle with the investigation! Misa: … cheating on me with Ryuzaki, do you?
The fact that L and Light both go in detective mode whenever anyone says something and both of them overanalyze everything is just like Death Note and I love it
Honestly its my favorite part. That and light switching from evil guy doing internal chess moves to normal chill guy. Its so much whiplash that its comedy at times.
It's such a shame that this 3 minute video truly captured what made Death Note so good more than those live action adaptations that pop out of nowhere.
TBH I saw the live-actions and they legit make me want to laugh while also take it seriously. The japanese don't fuck around with Live Actions too much it seems.
From Misa’s point-of-view: Light wants to call it a night and wants to say goodnight to her privately, but then L suggests that they order dinner from Wendy’s. L wants to share a 4 for $4 meal, but Light says a $5 biggie bag is more suitable. Misa then mentions Taco Bell, but as she says she wants a Big Mac from Taco Bell, Light punches L. Didn’t know that Light was so passionate about the Wendy’s 4-for-$4
I love how both L and Light rambled nonsense after hearing "Taco Bell". And funnily enough, both of them had the exact train of thought and came to the same INSANE conclusion as if it was something obvious and normal
“How about dinner? My treat of course.” “How about we split the Wendy’s four for four.” That is the cheapest attempt at being generous I have ever heard. Especially coming from the guy who owns the high rise they are sitting in. Also, it’s bullshit to offer to get dinner and then ask someone to split something with them. That reveals they aren’t actually making a generous offer, but instead just wanting something for themselves but don’t want to eat it alone for one reason or another. Light was right to be suspicious. If he didn’t complain, it would reveal Light didn’t care about dinner and just wanted L gone. However, Light fucked up by complaining about the quantity, and not L’s cheapness. L knows Light barely eats compared to him, and would probably just have L’s fries and maybe a nugget. Light should also know that Misa will eat even less of her order, leaving that to be divided between the remaining two. Light complained about the wrong thing, confirming it was all just an act. Which raises his chance of being Kira from 99% to 99.0000001%. Good work L.
You idiot! L doesn't know fully about lights portion size, and complaining about ls cheapness would alert l, because only a genius like KIRA could possibly find that out, and If he is a regular highschool boy, especially one good at sports, large meals are natural. Really, the only correct part here is misa, but that would make L sexist since he assumed the woman would eat less
I don't think enough people talk about how light started listing off the 4 for 4s credentials so dead serious and smooth like hes in an ad it kills me every time 😂😂
Holy shit, your voice acting! So impressive how you captured EXACTLY the voices of the actors from the English dub-your Light voice was spot on. I died at "maybe it's time you and I head out;" for some reason that was just so perfect!
Death Note practically weaponized the Mundane Made Awesome trope. No doubt this video was inspired by Light’s inner monologue dramatically declaring “I’ll take a potato chip…AND EAT IT!”
@DarkWarriorMaster I recognize that tvtropes formatting from anywhere. YOU HEAR ME, DARKWARRIORMASTER? I'M NOT GOING BACK TO TVTROPES, I CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE ANY MORE HOURS ON THAT GOD FORSAKEN SITE!
My suspicion is that this was done to see how Light would react to the number 4, "shi", which has a supersition around it in Japan because the word death is also "shi"
When the parodies voice acting is so good, you find yourself engaged in the storyline about orders. Seriously JJ, you have actual talent. Hopefully this channel opens some opportunities.
@@1starfalco1 He must have gotten the original voice actor for the English dub, this can’t just be an impression because he sounds identical to Light from the series.
I can only imagine the court proceedings with this logic. The judge asks the prosecutor to lay out his case and the prosecutor has to explain that the detective thought someone was Kira because he wanted the detective to spend an extra dollar on dinner.
Alr now I want a video where light keeps thinking to himself that L is trying to trick him into exposing himself, while L is literally just being a normal friendly person and inviting him to a tennis match or a meal or something.
Light: That tennis match is probably a ruse, he is just trying to gauge my physical capabilities and hand eye coordination, the fool is probably assuming I am using some sort of ranged throwing weapon to kill my victims.
@@aerodynamo4874 nah, I'd like him to still be a detective, just not accusing light of anything yet and simply trying to befriend him. Him just being some college weirdo trying to make friends is also a good idea tho.
Misa just wanting a taco bell while both of them are overthinking all of it is just perfect. And the fact that what she was going to order was a BIG MAC was just a cherry on top.
Notice how Light did not suggest the $6 for two of either Western Bacon Burger or Famous, even though it would be the most fulfilling for the two because he knew L would connect 666 with the Shinigami. Absolutely brilliant writing, bravo Vince.
However, it takes place in Japan, which has more superstition around the number 4, shi, because it sounds like the word for death, also shi/shini. Hence, the suggestion of the 4 for $4 was actually L's test to see if Light would choose to go for a different option to avoid the association with death
I love how the scene starts with Light's theme, showing how he's in control as L compliments him for having a "fair point," but then shifts to L's theme as he gains power over Light.

Taco Bell also had the slogan “Yo quiero Taco Bell!" Which if you heard poorly, could sound like “Yo Kira, Taco Bell.”
So Misa was saying she wanted Taco Bell to both Light’s identities in a subtle way. Also, Taco Bell’s current slogan is “live mas” meaning live more. So Misa was saying if L didn’t want Taco Bell he wouldn’t live more.
You are on the same wavelength as those 2. XD

2:09 Hilarious, but an awful missed opportunity for the Taco Bell bell dong.
I find it even funnier because canonically Misa is capable of formulating a secret code like this that only Kira/Light would figure out but she tragically cant keep that level of intelligence as consistently as Light or L. I'd love more of these.

The truth is, that by suggesting Taco Bell, she was really trying to kill them both. 💩
Clever Misa. And she was trying to do it by suggesting a place well known for giving people indigestion to make it as accidental as possible.
💀
L seemed to be just one step short before you struck!
wholy shit.
Of course! Ordering a (Close) Quarter-Pounder would garner too much suspicion, after all.

“How about dinner? My treat of course.”
“How about we split the Wendy’s four for four.”
That is the cheapest attempt at being generous I have ever heard.

Is this L’s alt account “T”?
You idiot! L doesn't know fully about lights portion size, and complaining about ls cheapness would alert l, because only a genius like KIRA could possibly find that out, and If he is a regular highschool boy, especially one good at sports, large meals are natural.
