I married my wife when I was 32 and she was 30. When I brought her back to the states I had my manager tell me I bought my wife and I’ve heard other comments over the years. I’m now 14 years married and those others are divorced. Don’t listen to nay sayer do what makes you happy. That’s what I do.

My take on world zoom was he was directing his hurt at Mark. I do not agree with any of you going after one another. Settle your disagreements off the air. Hashing and jumping to conclusions isn't good. Any age after 18 can decide for themselves. Age differences actually help each other and has been the way it is around the world before bible times.

I agree. Mike must not have listened to the whole thing. I think paul was talking about someone else, perhaps "every man has a story" whom i think was the one who revealed his past but that guy built an expensive house so he doesn't fit the profile. All these guys are doing right by their girls just by marrying them and conveying US citizenship to them but they are also giving them scooters and checking accounts, driver's licenses, and western knowledge they will need when they move to the US. Some also give them houses. Yes these relationships look unnatural but that is because the progress of modern medicine has enabled men and especially wives to live longer, to survive childbirth etc. so you don't have rich widowers marrying young women like in the old days.

I started watching the World Zoom video and couldn't stand to finish it. I get so tired of people crying about an age gap. Even if it is about money it's none of anyone's business.
I agree completely. If anything, a more experienced expat can give a family massive advantages that it otherwise would not have. Not simply financial, but cultural, by making the person more worldly, and perhaps intellectually by mentoring and growing the knowledge and abilities of the partner.
But that said, it's not a requirement. As long as two adults are happy with each other, it's no one else's damn business to interfere, and it makes him look petty when they try to.

Hey Mike. 37 year age gap? Did you go to school together? lol. My wife and I have a 43 year age gap. So many people have no idea and never will.
I have never felt so respected in my life as I am now by my wife. I was married to a Filipina for 11 years that I met 20 years ago. That is why I wanted to find and marry someone from the Philippines.
My wife and I do not care about what others think. By the way, no one has ever said anything to us about it. My childhood friends and my family are very happy for me and my wife.
I changed the life for my former Filipina wife and her family. I moved her to the USA and her two children. And I am changing the life again of an entire family! And so are you! Bless you for that Mike! And you know better than most how Janet has changed your life for the better.

Your good intentions of creating a You Tube channel to help expats navigate the transition to the Philippines is admirable and your experiences are invaluable to those that want to move to the Philippines or even question whether they can do it. However, you also share your personal life, and Janet's, and 99% of your viewers and subscribers love this (me included) but it makes you and Janet vulnerable to the trolls and people who criticize your lifestyle. I have a pretty thick skin, but wouldn't share my family life with strangers who really don't know me, my values, and certainly would not take kindly to viewers making judgments about my character or moral compass. Your videos have great content. You and Janet are a lovely couple.

Excellent video Mike. I saw World Zoom's Child Bride video and he was definitely talking about Mark. I don't think he really has a problem with Mark's age gap. Mark and Jen are solid. I think he's dishing Mark for still going after him for blatantly lying on Mark's channel. It's not the first time Mark has had a liar on his channel (remember navy seal) but I don't blame Mark for holding a grudge. Liars on Mark's channel degrade his channel and make him look bad. @@mikesphilippineretirementI watched the video again and as an objective person, he was almost exclusively talking about Mark. He did mention age gap issues but that was limited to girls below 30. I’m a middle aged man and agree for the (most part) with Paul’s assessment on a 20 yr old girl with a 65+ man. That it’s more of a business relationship than a “true love” relationship. I’m sure if there was a survey taken in America on this point Paul’s assessment would be 100% correct….
well i am a 62 year old white American man ok and my wifey is right now a 29 year old Filipino woman ok and i had ask her why she wanted to be with a much older man and she told me because a much older man is more mature and stable ok and she also told me that in the Philippines, it is very common for a younger woman to be with a much older man ok, well to me this is learning the Philippine culture ok, now i am not going to tell everyone in the world they have to or need to like this ok or to even do this ok, but also the same people who do not like this, you are entitle to your own opinion ok, but you do not have the right to try and push it onto other people ok or force it onto others ok, all of us are full grown adults ok and will do whatever it is that we consider right for our self, so long as it is not hurting anyone ok !!!!

If you go watch the video he wasn't talking about Mike negatively. He was actually praising Mike for doing the right thing and working to set Janet up for life after hes gone. He was talking about the guy who goes in with little or nothing and takes advantage of young girls who haven't any life experiences and or has no plans for her future. In the Philippines 30 is the age where if you haven't made it, you will struggle forever. If you really care about the lady's future you will do some financial planning, send her to school or help start a business.

Question,,,, what ever happened to the cruise ship Mark was buying? Oh wait, it was others buying it and he was scammer. Funny how that subject just got dropped. A wise old Korean women once told me. "When you point your finger at someone, look at where your thumb is pointing" Mark keeps pointing his finger at Paul, and Paul had enough. If i remember correctly, Old Dog after Paul's past came out, did something similar to Paul where he didnt mention names just generalized statements that probably included lots of us, but no one said a word to retaliate.

Hey Mike, I know what you are saying, I also have a younger wife who is 30 years my junior. She was my caregiver for a couple years, and I fell in love with her. I'm a disabled veteran and was married to my late Filipina wife (3 years older than me) for 41 years. She was my nurse when I was medivaced from Vietnam to Cubi Point. She passed away a few years ago from cancer. My new 38-Year-old Filipina wife takes great care of me and mourns with me over the loss of my late wife. My new wife brought me back to life when I was in deep depression. I did consider marrying other Filipina women my age, but most of the ones that I met had more medical issues than I do. I can't see myself going through what I did for 18 months at my late wife's side-through all the sleepless nights, the cancer treatments, and other non-stop medical appointments that put me in the hospital for three weeks from exhaustion after she passed. I believe I made the right choice by marrying a younger and stronger woman. I don't care what anyone says. If they can walk a mile in my shoes, they will understand.

One of the thing I remember from a month-long visit to Germany a few years ago was how I was able to find some really, perfect deals on food at the grocery story. Usually it was stuff that simply had to be sold that day or thrown away, and it was marked down considerably. If you wanted to, you could simply walk to the grocery store every day, buy whatever was on sale, and just make a day's worth of meals out of that. There's just not an equivalent system where I live in the US. Grocers would rather throw food away than to heavily discount it.

Hey Mike, here's a new one. My wife is .5 Filipina and I was only 1 year older than she was. In the Philippines, oftentimes people commented that she's too young for me because my hair was all white. I guess I looked way older. In our 35ish, she overheard a comment as we went by. "She's too young for him". I felt like a winner, she was a beauty.

Hi Mike, I don't think World Zoom was talking about you and your wife. As far as comments other people made about his video after watching it is just their personal opinion. I didn't read his comment section but I did watch his video and his opinion was based on his beliefs.
My opinion is to each their own, live and let live but I do agree that older poor guys should not be making kids if they can't support them financially after they pass on.

Yesterday old guy(74)tongue fell out of his mouth and he spouted an inappropriate comments to my partner, she’s ex model and corporate banker in Manila ..when he realised I was next to him ..he was embarrassed and was apologetic. Unfortunately a lot of foreigners have a certain way of thinking about Filipina’s. It’s common to see very old old guys here in the phil’s, there certainly needs to be more respect for Filipina’s in general. Me thinks everyone should be me respectful…you can see the real relationships and wish everyone all the best. Peoples should certainly be more respectful.

Mike, I'm certain he wasn't talking negatively about you, if anything he was praising you. He mentioned that he felt 30 was the age of full maturity with life experiences. He also said something to the effect of leaving something for her after you're gone and you set up a savings account that you contributed to monthly and you also have a joint savings. He was talking about the old guy living off the bare minimum and can is struggling to take care of themselves which you have to admit there are quite a few of them.

The Filipinas I have met in depth in their 20’s are far more mature and emotionally stable than US 50 year olds. Filipinas in their 20’s that I know in depth are also not self centered, not self absorbed and very maturing caring and loving. I respect Filipinas in their 20’s. I admire them. Their positive energy is precious. Congrats to anyone who has a Filipina whatever age.

Great video Mike. Me and Lydia personally know you as friends. We left Dumaguete because I wanted to live back in Lidia’s province because I had more of a opportunity to more or less be back in a farm atmosphere. I loved the fact that I knew where downtown was here where I live it’s spread out and don’t have a downtown. When I moved to the Philippines I told my gf that if she loved me took care enjoyed being with me wanting to travel with me I would take care of her, love her until I die here and she would be taken care of when I am gone. So it’s a give and take and in the end it works out for both but I have never been loved as much as I am now and she has never been loved as much as I love her. I don’t care what people think here or in my country because as long as we are happy together is all that matters and it’s no one else’s business. Period. Have a great day my 2 friends. Agreed @floribertosousa and I would like to add, if a person chooses to live in another country, the country and culture, including people need to be respected and accepted for who and what they are. People have a right to love who they wish to love and whatever the reason is for a relationship, is between those people and none of our business. I choose the Philippines because of how the country is and I accept all the good and all the shortcomings. That's all I wish to say. The one point I truly agree with Mike on is (paraphrased) it is very arrogant of a person to say the people there are naive.
