  • What started as an experiment, eventually turned into a working Lego Lawn Mower! Cutting the grass is now fun not a chore.
    This is probably the slowest, but the smallest actually working Lego lawn mower.

    I built one of these about 20 years ago that also used razor blades! However, I did have an enclosure around the blades in case one came off. And one did and flew into the deck of the mower. It worked surprisingly well.

    it needs MOAR POWER, or more like it needs MOWER POWER!

    • @TheBrickWallTeam
      @TheBrickWallTeam  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point, the real Mowers actually create an air suction so the grass sucked inside. I could not figure out how to do the same using Lego parts. My idea is the grass will fly away from the machine. Thank you for the comment.

    • @majstealth
      @majstealth 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      well, you would need more power, enough to cut the grass, lift it up the ground and transport it somewhere else. extra you would need the channel to transport and the housing to concentrate the lifting force
      you could build a hexagonal or octagonal piece for that, maybe mod a piece of metal like a propeller, make it as good fitting and filling of the casing as possible - but i doubt we could build something that would work this way in that scale

    it's not necessarily the sharpness of the the blades on a lawn mower that makes them work, but more about their ability to draw a vacuum to keep the blades of grass rigid and upright

  • @octocreeper8182
    @octocreeper8182 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would like you to make another, but regular lawn mowers use the blades as fans to make the grass more stiff so it cuts better and doesn’t just whack it. This mower is still really good tho.

    How do you control the pneumatics? It doesn't look like you're moving the switches by hand...

      Good question, in this MOD I actually do manually switch it. Thank you for asking.

    Have you tried to make a mower for hay? You already have the bailer, and the rake now all you need is a something to cut it with.

    You need to build in some mixing bowls on top of the blades somehow so you can creat some suction and actually cut the grass....

    I have been trying to make this for ages, (like since late 2015 ages) and you make it instantly.. slightly disappointed I will admit 😂

    • @TheBrickWallTeam
      @TheBrickWallTeam  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Baba, long time. Well this was not instantly, at the beginning I started with carpenter blade, it did not work, then I tried cheap blades from Dollar store- disaster, after all I come across the blades to clean glass top stove- it was perfect.
      Next roadblock was the L Motors- not fast and not enough torque, I had only 3 XL motors, so had to order one more and wait for 2 weeks. then the test did not go as expected and blades fall out, anyway it was not as easy at it seams.

    It looks a bit front heavy doesn't it? Not saying it's a bad idea, actually I've been looking for inspiration to make one of these myself and this video is actually one of the best I've seen.
    But it might be a smart idea to add a counterweight in the back

      @@TheBrickWallTeam Anytime, but know that overall it's a good idea, I look forward to seeing what you make next!
      Actually, since we are on topic, could you see about attempting to make a wheat thresher or a mill of some sort? Would come in handy with the field I work in

  • @despondent27
