- Whitby,a pretty little seaside town just 21 miles north of Scarborough.
This place is loaded in history and legends,it is said that the novalist Bram Stoker wrote his novel Dracula here in Whitby.
All the little narrow streets,with shops and cafe's,it is a dream to visit, i often visit this place.

I feel so blessed to live close by and that I can visit as often as I like. Such a special place.
Beautiful little harbour town. Whilst there we enjoyed a good pint of best bitter and a helping of really good fish and chips. We loved our time there. Thanks for the memory.

I am an american that lived in the uk for 7yrs. This was one of my favorite places to go. I loved it there. Back in the USA now and I hate it! No better place on earth, in my opinion, to be then the UK. xxx

Yes I have been there a couple times in Scarborough. Been to robin-hood bay a few times as well. Right now as I speak I have several pics I took in Whitby and printed in several sizes and framed hanging in my stairwell to remind me of better times and hopes of returning there sooner then later. xxx

When we visit Scarborough for a few days we always come to Whitby we love it
Really great place, always enjoyed it. Only down side is being constantly under attack from gulls. Pickings are so easy they no longer go out to sea.
Yorkshire has many beautiful and welcoming attractions. Whitby is one of the most go to places. I take my visitors to see the original buildings and architecture. Whitby Jet in jewellery form etc is gorgeous. Yes, my favourite place to visit in the UK.
Wonderful town. Some places just make an impression straight away. Whitby is one, and it's stuck with me.
I've lived in 3 countries, travelled to 5 continents and Whitby is still my favourite place. I'd love to be able to live there one day. Maybe when I retire!

Well,I'm 50 & this has brought a little tear to my eye,hahaha! I would go to Whitby every other year for my summer hols,alternating with Scarborough! We always had the best times at Whitby,being more graceful & charming as opposed to the bigger,gaudier Scarborough! If I ever won big-time on the Lottery I would head to Whitby like a shot! Mind you,getting up to the Abbey would be more of a task now,what with creaking bones & smoker's lung,lol! But it'd be worth it just to see my days out!
Thanks John for a lovely video tour of Whitby, I lived in Scarborough about 20 years ago and loved it, I think Whitby is enchanting and has the history around ghosts, ghouls etc and has a certain mysterious quality to it. Although I now live in the north East, I still yearn for Yorkshire, so I will be back in Whitby very soon.

Dunno when this video was taken but during summer you can't see the pavement for visitors - but still a great atmosphere and miles of interesting walks, nooks and crannies to spread out in! I moved here from London via Darlington and can't think of any place I'd ever want to live. It's just beautiful.
whiby is on my top spots like, along with a place called great ayton....im from middlesbrough, im coming to whitby, looking to rent for a week or 2, its my ideal place to live in my future, i love this place, so rlaxing, peaceful, the scenes, its the life for me, seaside is were i wanna to be, great video...i love the northyorkshire moors, the whole thing, its different to life i live, im in town, busy, born in council estate, grove hill, looking at same houses, i want to see sky, sea

This horrible virus has stopped me having my annual fortnight in Whitby, it's the first time in 30 years that i haven't been. I will miss going this year, but i am hoping to be able to book an extra week, next year to make up for it. Love the video, thanks.
What a great little video. I've been wanting to visit Whitby for some years now, but havnt got round to it. Im a photographer myself and it looks such an atmospherical place. I live in South Wales but I've got relations living in Catterick so I really must make the effort. Right. Time for part 2. Well Done and thanks.

Whitby is another place I have never visited, and yet I have heard it's supposed to be very nice, it certainly appears a nice looking place, reminds me of Brixham a little.
I like these small old town kind of places, with the little pubs and shops, streets and all things associated with the sea side. Love hearing the sea gulls as well... aahhh !!

I used to go there with my family when I was younger. It brings back some nice memories. :)

I've never been to Whitby but I'm coming up there in October for a few days holiday. I just know I'm going to fall in love with the place which will make it harder to go back to work in London.

I really enjoyed this short film. I will be undertaking the walking tours in the evening when I arrive here by train. It looks like the place is trapped in a time warp.

Hi John I love yorkshire but I'm born in oxford and every time I go on holiday every year to whitby it feels like it his is where I should live with my family and not horrible oxford. I'm also going back to whitby and goathland in August ,
You should count yourself lucky you live in bloody oxford mate.

I am 73 and was born in Exeter Devon although Devon is beautiful Yorkshire is also very beautiful we have the mores you have the dales I love Yorkshire . The people are also very friendly.

arthur smith I think that place is over rated an expensive, there is one better and cheaper than the Magpie, just over the swing bridge opposite the Dolphin pub, that is the on I use....

Beautiful place sorry chris p understand about tourist .you don't realise what you've got there. maybe try living in manchester for a while no beach no cliffs no scenery unless you like football cricket or have a lot of money not a lot to do i love manchester but whitby stole my heart

They have a couple of good weekends here,every year they have a Goth weekend where everybody dresses up in the weirdest costumes,i will try and catch a few of them and post them up.............John

Yorkshire : one of the most beautiful places on the planet, populated with some of the most mean spirited people on the planet.
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you i have been very busy.Whitby can be cold in winter but at the moment it is very nice.It is quite a way from London,it is 257 miles,413 km north east of London about a 4 hours drive,as for somewhere to stay there are plenty of guest houses and hotels to chose from all at reasonable rates.I hope you enjoy your stay.........Jjohn

I am not quite sure when i did this one,i know it was not in the summer months,i know what it is like in summer it is just like where i live in Scarborough it is packed.It will soon be busy again in Whitby for the Goth weekend next month,which i will be paying a visit.....John

You're right,there's 'nowt' wrong with the age,it's what it does to my fecking body that's the problem,hahaha! I haven't been to Whitby for a number of years as I now live much further south than my hometown of Middlesbrough,but if I did happen to win big-time on the Lottery I'd have to buy something in/close to Whitby to see out my days by the bracing,(cough,cough),north Yorks coast! And Scarborough had it's appeal too,just that Whitby was more 'genteel'. J.P.
You could be right,every place has it's dodgy areas,i live in Scarborough and here too are districts that is best to be avoided especially after dark.......
