I think its a song about treating all experiences with gratitude for what they can teach you. She had been to India before this and was on a 'spirituality' search. The trouble is, this video at the time was widely mocked and some DJs at the time didn't know how to react songs about antibiotics, healthy eating and accepting trouble as lessons - in contrast to her sweary, rocky, p-ssd-off full of attitude album 'Jagged Little Pill'. It is from her album "Supposed former infatuation junkie", which although only 4 words, didn't trip off the tongue and contained few radio friendly tracks. I think it was about this time when Alanis lost the mainstream push of Radio play & TV appearences. Although she released a number of very good albums since then, I suspect the General Public only remember her from 'Jagged Little Pill' and are unaware of her later stuff.

The nakedness is a metaphor for her completely exposing her inner self here in this song, with these declarations, and so forth. "I'm gonna show you everything, my whole soul.

This song is just so powerful. To me, it’s about gratitude. It’s about what we experience when we heal. Being raw, vulnerable and healing

Check out “You Oughtta Know” by Alanis if you haven’t heard it yet …a completely different vibe but a major banger and her international breakout hit back in the day!

The Lyric "How 'bout getting off of these antibiotics?" is a Metaphor for how we deal with intrusive things like Emotions by using a substance to repel something that is being done to you and you don't want to deal with it & hope it disappears.

The spirituality of the country. Thankful for all her traits and beliefs. In other words, thankful for all that is thrown at you, will make you stronger

How 'bout getting off of these antibiotics?
How 'bout stopping eating when I'm full up?
How 'bout them transparent dangling carrots?
How 'bout that ever elusive kudo?
    Thank you India
    Thank you terror
    Thank you disillusionment
    Thank you frailty
    Thank you consequence
    Thank you thank you silence
How 'bout me not blaming you for everything?
How 'bout me enjoying the moment for once?
How 'bout how good it feels to finally forgive you?
How 'bout grieving it all one at a time?
    Thank you India
    Thank you terror
    Thank you disillusionment
    Thank you frailty
    Thank you consequence
    Thank you thank you silence
The moment I let go of it was the moment
I got more than I could handle
The moment I jumped off of it
Was the moment I touched down
How 'bout no longer being masochistic?
    How 'bout remembering your divinity?
How 'bout unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How 'bout not equating death with stopping?
    Thank you India
    Thank you providence
    Thank you disillusionment
    Thank you nothingness
    Thank you clarity
    Thank you, thank you silence
    Yeah, yeah
    Oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

She’s saying thank you to the things that we perceive as negatives, because the paradox of those “negative” things, if you go deeper into them and accept them, is that they help you to awaken.

Message: Take a rest when you’re tired and it does not make you less of a person. Take a break if necessary. Forget the past and learn to forgive. Learn to let go.
Find inner peace. Get back on track. Be grateful to everything. To challenges, to frailty, to terror. Then you will be happier than ever. Then you will find the true meaning of life.

I'm sorry, I just can't help myself from saying this. There are so many reaction creators on this platform and 95% of them are just awful. Simply gushing about how good the artist is. No breakdown of the music. No insight into the song theme or context. No discussion of her vocal style or phrasing. And these lyrics are so out of your depth of thinking and emotional awareness you could never disertate them. Im not trying to hate, but you might be the worst I've seen at this type of critique. Certainly one of them. If you would at least like to try and improve, watch Phil at wings of Pegasus.. who is one of the best! Take care 👍
