Love Alanis! My favorite line is "how about unabashedly bawling your eyes out"

Alanis might be the most underrated, under appreciated female artist of all time. You just rarely find albums like Little Jagged Pill that you can listen start to finish without skipping a track.

One of the most radiant songs ever written... I can't listen to it without shedding tears.
I'm not even a big Alanis fan... I like her stuff well enough... but I listen to a ton of music (Guided By Voices, Radiohead, Peter Gabriel-era Genesis, XTC, The Chills, Kate Bush, Sugarplastic, Able Tasmans, Neil Young, etc...), but whenever I return to this song it hits me right in the heart.

My favorite line is "The moment I let go of it......" Jagged Little Pill is an epic album but for me I relate to Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie more. It got me through some tough times in college. It is funny she turned JLP into a musical but i always pictured Junkie as a musical when I would listen to it.

This song is just a reminder to stop being a ball of anxiety and let stuff go! I didn't know she did a storytellers. Fantastic stuff!

I think this song speaks to those of thus who strugle with depression from time to time. Thank U Clarity. Thank U Silence. If I feel the darkness coming, I play some ridiculous dancy pop songs to get out of it, when I'm free, I give my thanks.

I agree. I think going through traumas and starting to heal.. it’s exactly what she’s singing about. The Healing

I know you've listened to it if you're a fan, but can you show your reaction to her song "Uninvited"? I think it's just so powerful ☺

  • @dalee72

I think that this song is about her spiritual awakening and spiritual growth as a human being.
When she was talking about trying to find happiness and bliss from external sources and not from within and trying to get approval from the public are illusions that are called maya which is a Buddhist concept for illusions. And in Hinduism there is the goddess Kali who is the goddess of death.
It's true in life that we go through different transitions and phases and between each phase there is a form a death and letting go.

I hadn't thought about this song until early this morning. I think of recovering from a couple of broken relationships. Maybe more than a couple. Maybe my ex. Maybe my mom.

  • @dalee72

I didn't think that the line "How about remembering your divinity." is controversial. I'm not a religious person but a spiritual person so I believe that we are all part of the Divine, Creator, God, Source or whatever you want to call it and there is a piece of the Divine inside all of us. It's up to us to remember it.
I think that your lights falling down from your hanger was a sign from the Divine. LOL! Please react to her song Head Over Feet. I think you will enjoy it.

    She seems so sweet!
Who knew in 2022 she'd be railing against parents who don't want drag queens in their child's school.
    So progressive!

Awesome singer...however, we do NOT live in a realm of relativity as Alanis claims. Truth is NOT relative.
Either it is True or it is False...nothing "relative" about that.

    • @GilbertGTV
      @GilbertGTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Agreed. I do think there is something to be said about perspective though, and how that affects reality. If you perceive something as inferior to you, then it will be. And likewise, if you perceive something as beneficial to you, then it will be. But I agree with the deeper truth of your point. Facts are facts. They are true regardless of how you feel about them and they don't disappear simply because you choose not to believe in them. Great point.
