One thing i would love to see, if anyone is reading this, is quest leading to other quests, ... quests within quests. I find in rpg:s many times the quests are to linear and simple, go fetch this thing, well done, here is your gold. Why not let one thing lead to another, you stumble on someone imprisoned in that dungeon, now you can choose to engage in a quest of helping him, now you discover a whole new faction as a result and he invites you to join, now he offers you a new quest, where you stumble upon yet another possible, or many different possible quests and options. This is after all how real life works.

Daggerfall was before my time, started with Oblivion. But I have read about the features of DF and was surprised how much less features TES games had the further they went on. I'm amazed. Daggerfall is one of the most ambitious games of all time. All it really needed, in my opinion, was a bit more structure, sophistication, and a liberal sprinkling of interactivity and reaction. From the looks of it, this is Wayward Realms.
I think this will be the first time I support a Kickstarter! I know the game is supposed to be a spiritual successor to Daggerfall but it also seems heavily inspired by Morrowind, one of my favorite RPGs. Looking forward to donating to the team and supporting this project!
I see inspiration from several games. The lighting and light breaking is strait out of Thief, combat looks a lot like like Dark Mesiah with the kicking and such, and the climbing and NPC interactions etc is straight out of daggerfall. Looks like they're trying to take the best from other games and incorporate it. I approve.
It also means that if they succeed, this is going to be a better stealth game than most modern stealth games. And also that they'll pull off what Todd's Bethesda tried but failed, which is to make a TES with engaging combat.
A GAME MADE FOR GAMERS!!! Bethesda has watered down elder scrolls to practically nothing where this is what elder scrolls should’ve been!! Thank you guys!!
I've finally been experiencing Daggerfall for the first time (via Daggerfall Unity) and having a blast, and now seeing this project on the horizon? Daggerfall really scratches that "living life in a fantasy realm" itch, and this project updating that idea to modern standards is very exciting stuff. Finding the time to actually PLAY it will be the hard part!

Doesn't have to have uber graphics, I still play Daggerfall today. Depth of world and gameplay is what I want to see.

Yes! Climbing! Such a small thing, but I love when it's an included feature!
It's a great feature for a thief
cant wait to roleplay as ezio

“The board is set, the pieces are moving. We come to it at last, the great RPG of our time.”
That quote sends shiver down my spine, taking the real world into account.
@@user-pc5qj2ix2c the last great rpg before ww3 starts? 😨 That's what I am guessing you were implying.
@@bigguy130 Well, if it comes to that, let's appreciate what we are given even more.
The deep breath before the plunge
The journey does not end here... Rpgs are just another path, one we all must take. The grey rain curtain of Bethesda and ubisoft slop roll back and then you see it.......
The subtle role play aspects. The tasteful weight of the combat. My god, it even has fishing.

Wasn't sure until you said fishing .... I'm in ❤
Ayeeeeee hey Gopher!
You should make a video on these guys, give them more exposure!
Should have expected to see you here! I agree it would be nice to see a speculative video on Wayward Realms perhaps? ;)
bro pls make a video on this game
Well, here's hoping that we see this game release before 2030.
Godspeed and good luck to you all. 😚

@@ShiroiNihonjinno way they'll keep the hype train rolling this long
They're saying that if the Kickstarter is successful they'll have an early access for backers in 2025. As for the full game I guess it depends how much they're funded because that will affect dev time.
I'm not financially equipped to make pledges or donations, but I'm very glad the Kickstarter goal was met, I wish OLG all the best in making it happen. I'll be here, ready to buy the game in Early Access or full.
Daggerfall is still my favorite Elder Scrolls game and I've been waiting to see if Wayward Realms would see the light of day. This brings me so much joy! You can't imagine. THANK YOU!
It's important to be able to have long-term goals we can work up to by doing these quests, beyond just putzing around in a sandbox. Things like raising a minor lord to emperor, or building our own house up to a palace, or helping one country conquer another.
Proud to be a Day 1 backer of this exciting project! 🤜🤛
What he said!
ah yes, there's always the fishing minigame
I took that as a smart aleck nod to Skyrim's new fishing mechanic.
Fishing in games always triples my hours played. HYPE
I'm crying. been addicted to Daggerfall and dungeon synth since I caught wind of Daggerfall Unity This is finally the game that will get me streaming again!
and not just from the eyes! Hiyooooooooo!
I feel you brother ⚔
Bro I saw a screenshot and immediately came to find this. MAKE THIS DAMN GAME I NEED IT
The only thing I highly request is allow us to have a 3rd person perspective like Skyrim. Personally I 3rd person when I’m not in dungeons or battles. I’ll use it for dialogue, in normal buildings and traveling.
@@Itsleaff third person is planned.
Im really glad that you guys added the hyperlink dialogue, it adds so much to have easily accessible lore cause its embedded in the game instead of an afterthought menu
Everyone get to kickstarter and back this. I just have. I wish I could pledge more, but everyone who loves elder scrolls, arena, and daggerfall specifically needs to chip in on this!
I love how the one skeleton smacks and kills the other skeleton in front of you. You were probably saying "Thanks for the help dude"!
In daggerfall happens sometimes when enemies fight among themselves. Surely is a nice touch
when i get my salary donating money to this project. The industry right now needs this game.
*This looks PHENOMENAL!!! Combat looks clunky and undeveloped. But it will look better later, I'm sure. The graphics are 15/10. I am very impressed. The D&D style of options and rpg play, 15/10. I love it. I pray this comes to fruition.*
Its been many years years but its finally coming together. Its wonderful to see the Wayward Realms being shown. It will be great to see it being fully released.
I wish the best of luck to all the developers on the game. Its been a long time but it is coming together.
Amazing, 50K already after only half an hour.
look at it now
That's because people want a DEEP first person CRPG experience. Outside of "tabletop" style games, they are hard to find. And this trailer delivers a LOT of that already.
Yup, they're now at 136k at the 5 hour mark!
My knees hurt, but my veteran bones are ready for a new adventure!
Took some arrows, huh?
Im so happy you guys are getting a lot of support on kickstarter. Keep up the good work!
Did not think we would be getting such a good looking gameplay trailer this soon. Cant wait to try it out!
Dark Messiah kick ftw! Climbing also looked very good
I like how you're not afraid to make the puzzles tricky. It will be fun trying to work them out for a brand new game with no wiki entries, I think it will help foster a community for this game.
Not only that, but they've talked about bringing back the language skills from Daggerfall... Which might have you translate texts to solve those puzzles too!
It's likely a lot of puzzles will be generated at runtime as well so it might not even be the same solution every time
Very nice. I'm getting a strong sense of the vision you devs have for this game and wanting to make something that has its own identity. And i know this is super early alpha gameplay but it already feels a bit different then anything i have seen before. Obviously getting some daggerfall vibes. Really nice.
Damn this really looks amazing! RPG fans are gonna be eating well in the coming years!
We're on day 2 and you're almost halfway to reaching your funding goal, excellent work.
I feel bad for not paying attention to this more. Now I will pay attention and talk about this on my channel!
Looks like a game developed by people who play games instead of people who play gamers.
You mean it's developed by competent, talented folks that aren't afraid to make a deep, rewarding, systems-rich game for people wanting a truly deep game experience? We went away from this in the mid 00s, FINALLY first person RPGs get their deep CRPG...
Come back and tell me this when it releases
@@legitplayin6977 exactly...I won't lie...I'm excited about this...but the current events in game release history causes us to approach new games with tempered optimism for fear of repeatedly getting burned by poor/unfinished releases.
I hope this one is great!
Yeah I mean... not riddled with microtransactions, live service, subscription model. Base level for entry for me.
You probably said the same thing about the Starfield gameplay reveal as well.
Hell yeah, finally some gameplay. Really love that we can see our body in first person, I always hated not having that in games.
Commenting for the algorithm. Want this game to succeed so badly.
Pledged as an Adventurer, the kickstarter is movin' baby! good luck!
I cant express how goddamn excited I am for this game. I've been burned so many times before by modern AAA releases being buggy as hell or disappointing. But the fact that you're taking your time, and that this is a spiritual successor to one of my favourite RPGs of all time gives me a lot of hope, especially after seeing this trailer. Please take as long as you need. I'm confident that this has a lot of potential to be the greatest RPG ever made, especially if you manage to execute the world events/evolving cities system (which sounds INSANE)
These past few years its really beginning to feel like we're experiencing a second golden age for western RPG's.
Sure. Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk... so many western rpgs of great quality recently
@@johngreek8239 Kingdom Come? Baldur's Gate 3? Pillars of Eternity 2? Divinity OS 2? Plenty of more indie CRPGs, from Disco Elysium to Colony Ship and beyond, with more to come, inspired by these previous models and successes?

I just recently finished the true ending for Dragons Dogma 2, & I'm looking forward to KCD2, Avowed, Fable, Elders Scrolls 6. LET’S GOO Wayward Realms is the first project I have EVER backed and I don’t regret my 40$ purchase AT ALL 🔥 could be the greatest Open World fantasy RPG to EVER EXIST 🔥🔥
It's not a purchase, it's a donation
@@SlamDancinMoogle idk it gets me the game when it drops early access I consider it a purchase 🤷🏻♂️
@@Clarkieyt It doesn't get you the game. The game may never release for any number of reasons, ergo it is not a purchase.
They have promised you a reward if the game does finish, but they are not required to fulfil any rewards should the game never reach fruition.
Now i'm not saying backing is a bad idea. I back a LOT of projects. But you should know what is and isnt a purchase, and backing anything on kickstarter is decidedly NOT a purchase
@@SlamDancinMoogle You’re definitely correct but also it doesn’t really matter haha I’m just happy to purchase or “donate to” the wayward realms 😈
If this is a spiritual successor to Dagger fall will there be any Easter eggs like a ghost yelling vengeance at night that scares the shit out of me

This is one of those games that deserves to have a multi-million dollar budget, I hope there are investors who are willing to contribute much more money.
We truly appreciate it!
Great to see the Kickstarter launching, and with a gameplay trailer accompanying it no less🥰
Just made my pledge; though I never before saw myself as a Grand Inquisitor, I thought it only fitting in this regard 😊
All the best to you guys going forward!😊
That fishing bit really shows that they know what gamers want lol
I mean, you put in all that water, AND sailable ships. At that point, of COURSE I kinda wanna go fishing.
Already did a pledge to support this project. I'm very interested to see what you guys make and hoping it turns out well for all of you. I recently started playing daggerfall and I fell in love with it immediately. The amount of details and cool rpg mechanics was very ambitious for its time. And this being a mordern daggerfall has my immediate attention and money.
Gosh I can't get over how fantastic the compositions Eric Heberling is coming out with for this game are, awesome!
Now I see why this game is a spiritual successor to Daggerfall: it has much of it art style but with modern looks. Will follow it's updates with pretty huge interest
If I could throw more money at it I would but I'll gladly take the first Malus position. Looking forward to talking with you guys =)
ur a legend
Just gave my pledge! Can't wait to see what you all do with this game!
We hear ya. We actually have been designing quests in a 5 act structure, with fifth acts being a potential first act for another quest.
@@OnceLostGames Thanks for the reply! It's been on my mind a long while as a tes fan, and I'm happy I somehow had my voice heard! This project is in insanely good hands, can't wait to try it out.
Rpg that doesn't hold her hand and tell you where to go with a marker, I LOVE IT
Just backed the campaign! Extremely excited to see what you all have planned, and looking forward to the progress your team (and the game) makes over the next few years. All the best!!!
The VGM sounds super awesome, really excited by the idea that any NPC can become a major player in later questlines!
Seriously excited to see this game coming together. This gameplay video is super encouraging and looks out of this world!
Just pledged for the Kickstarter campaign! Go OnceLost games!
Daggerfall was before my time, started with Oblivion. But I have read about the features of DF and was surprised how much less features TES games had the further they went on. A modern spin on a classic RPG is exactly what we need, games like BG3 and KCD prove that advanced mechanics still can be viable in a ever more casualized industry.
Blessings of Julianos upon ye.
With the Daggerfall Unity project now being complete it's the best time to give it a try if you're interested.
@@CrazyxEnigma Yeah I've seen that I was considering it.
This is how Daggerfall looked in my mind back when i played it as a child. I'll be pledging some money soon!
Made a pledge!
Been following this since you all got back together. Im so unbelievably stoked for this game!
Happy to be one of the backers of this project. I'd love to learn more about the stealth system you guys have planned and what you can do with a stealth build.
I love the old school Elder Scrolls look but also the bits of emergent gameplay possible. This will be a fun little procedural adventure. Looking forward to this KS!
I'm amazed. Daggerfall is one of the most ambitious games of all time. All it really needed, in my opinion, was a bit more structure, sophistication, and a liberal sprinkling of interactivity and reaction. From the looks of it, this is Wayward Realms.
Good luck with the kickstarter! I did my duty!
I think this will be the first time I support a Kickstarter! I know the game is supposed to be a spiritual successor to Daggerfall but it also seems heavily inspired by Morrowind, one of my favorite RPGs. Looking forward to donating to the team and supporting this project!
You have my sword and my pledge good humans! I hope it all works out well.
Yes they have. Funny enough that the last immersive one (oblivion) was the last one this guy worked on.

Hope success in all your future endeavors!! I'm officially a Baron in the kickstarter 😎
This looks like a mixture of Dark Messiah, Kingdom Come, & The Elder Scrolls! I love it 🔥
Wohoh, combat looks fun!
Someone once told me in a youtube comment that I "look like Voldemort with a nose" so the charming compliment you gave Niles resonates with me 😅
I've finally been experiencing Daggerfall for the first time (via Daggerfall Unity) and having a blast, and now seeing this project on the horizon? Daggerfall really scratches that "living life in a fantasy realm" itch, and this project updating that idea to modern standards is very exciting stuff. Finding the time to actually PLAY it will be the hard part!
Finally!
I pledged to the kickstarter! Daggerfall is my favorite pc game of all time, I'm willing to support the devs who created it and have a vision for an rpg that is non existent in todays "rpg" market. Doesn't have to have uber graphics, I still play Daggerfall today. Depth of world and gameplay is what I want to see.
YESSSSSS!!! Pledged! and I wish OnceLost Games all the success!
Brings me right back to Arena and Daggerfall days... I could not pledge fast enough :) Great work guys! Can't wait!
This is like a fusion of Daggerfall game play mechanics, Morrowind text reading style and Oblivionesque engine.
I want to play it. So hyped for this.
Im glad to see some stuff like fishing as well. Maybe I am just a humble explorer going from town to town.
I can't wait to play this great looking game! I will definitely back it on KickStarter!
I'm so hyped for this game, keep the good work guys❤ salve from Brazil 🇧🇷
I knew the game would be very Dagerfall-esque, but I didn't expect the combat to look so Dark Messiah as well. I love it!
Okay, don't take it personally, I lost my ability to get hyped over ambitious projects years ago, but if this game is going to have a release, I promise that I'm buying it day one.
That is fair, we don't fault you for feeling that way.
