Great Video, I always use chains and booms, but had one snap back and brake a finger one day. After that I got a few binders but they are heavy and a pain to store. Thanks for the information and I’ll be picking up several soon.
Hi I have been using the EZ binder on my JD 1025R for a couple of years, I transport it quite a lot. I replaced the shortening hooks with open hooks and longer chain (the chain is grade 70) so I can hook one end straight into the D ring the other end to the tie down point on the tractor. It is very neet, very quick and very safe. Overkill I know. Regards John
if you don't have the money for the stake pocket D rings when you attach a chain drop on one side of the stake pocket and come up on the other side That way if your binder comes loose you won't lose your chain. Same way with strap. The reason you wrap the rub rail is if it comes loose you won't loose it. And straps and chains do come loose no matter how tight you think you can get them. That is why you load check 1st half hour and every time you stop. Just my 2 cents Thanks for the video. good ideas.
@@GoodWorksTractors actually it is a DOT requirement. It used to be within the first 30 minutes Yes most of us are not under DOT regulations but it is still saved equipment or loosing equipment a time or two.
Dot requires that the check the load in the first 50 miles of the trip and every time you are away from the vehicle which is a called a "change of duty status". Also some states will bust you for unsecure load if you have a strap or chain on the outside of the rub rail.

Just got 1 ez binder in so I can try it, love it! Do you have a discount code because I have to order 3 more 😂 Wish they made those tie down plates for a Power Star 110 because I would definitely buy them, hate scratching my stuff with chains

One chain on the back? Was messing around with my 1025r on the trailer today and want to be as quick and safe loading and off loading with mine for the white stuff.
@@GoodWorksTractors Found the manufacturer's website shortly after making the comment - looks like there are two different part numbers one with a higher working load limit. Still be good to see them expand into larger chain sizes though...
The Oz binder is a great product. Only issue I have is if I crank it down hard, when releasing the chain, the binder chain and slack pull handle gets stuck inside the gears and links
Quick question we just got a 1025r and with the loader and backhoe it feels like it stresses the machine to ride over bumpy terrain it’s all in my head I know that But how strong are these small tractors? can they handle a 2 inch drive way bump with all that weight on there?
Looks like those ratchet binders have a working load limit of 6,600lbs so that would count a 3,300lbs per binder per corner of 50% of working load limit. So you could carry a machine weighing 13,200 max if I'm correct on that according to federal law.
Not sure I want a trailer to pull the 2025r. On the one hand, I can bring it around to help out here and there with projects, on the other, I can bring it around to help out here and there with projects.... if you get what I'm saying. Still have projects here that need finishing! :-)
I highlighted those stake pocket D Rings for more than just chains. No way to avoid going outside the rub rail with straps whether it's wire hook, flat hook, snap hook, or anything else.
Too bad the cost on the EZ Ratchet is so cost prohibitive here in Canada , its a great looking unit and innovative but at 400%plus more than a regular ratchet chain binder it doesn't really justify itself to buy. Good vid .
I agree with you but technology costs and the old stuff works, yes you can make it a little easier or a little faster but the old binders and straps and rings have been in production for decades and they’re cheap and established and standardized, if you come out with something new the cost is going to be ridiculously higher. There are always better way to do things but somethings are cost effective and your average trucker is not going to go spend $297 when you can get something else that will do pretty much the same thing for 60 bucks just because it does it a little faster. I agree, I spend more for this stuff but most people don’t and it’s simple marketing. In time they will become more common they’ll become produced by more companies and the prices will come down and they’ll become more standardized. But for now, people are cheap, those products are out there it’s not that they don’t exist it’s just that they’re more expensive and people don’t wanna pay for them. :/
Wish the EZBinders were rating for more weight. They cost 4 times as much as regular ratchet binders, but are rated for almost half the weight. Definitely not for heavy haul use. Boss got me 8 of them for basic stuff though. Still prefer them over regular ratchets for basic flatbed loads. Not as fast as snap binders, but they should be safer to operate.
As a flatbed trucker I wouldn't want to waste the $145 on an EZ binder that's only rated for 5/16 grade 70. No thank you. $30 for a traditional racket binder. And when I do upgrade I'll be buying “Speedbinders”
You should stop by your local cop that inspects 18 wheelers... DOT. There are specific reasons why you needed 8 straps for that skid steer. Each one is rated for X amount of weight. Add up the ratings of all the straps... For the same reason why you can't use 4 straps rated for 500lb each to secure a 10,000 piece of equipment. Same goes for chains... they have a specific weight rating.
