I grew up in Calexico and now live in Mexicali, and just a word of advice next time you cross into or out of Mexico use the East port it's much easier and faster and once in Mexico easier and faster to get on the Hwy heading south

I have traveled throughout Baja 5 out of the last six years. Never once have I felt unsafe and every local resident or official I’ve encountered has been wonderful. People who tell you its unsafe are lying,
I Concur, but... the worst things that are happening to tourists especially in Baja Norte(TJ, Rosario, and Ensenada) is the police harassing tourist at traffic violation stops. DO Not ever tell them, or cashiers, or show anyone how much money you have. Make a fake wallet and only carry copies of drivers license, insurance papers, etc, and about $40 bucks. Hide the rest. Seniors, stop opening you big fat wallets in-front of cashiers at stores and gas stations. They will signal a friend to rob you. Pull you money out of wallet before you pay or request something to buy. Video record all police stops and tell them you will post this harassment for a bribe/extortion of cash on You tube. If innocent, call 911 and ask for supervisor because your freedom to travel is being detained by police asking for a bribe. Report this to the American Consul folks at all times so they can follow up and tell Ms. Presdent how corrupt the police arena Baja. This is the main reason many Tourists do not return to Baja cities.

I drove a Cargo Pro-master the other day, unfortunately it was spewing black smoke from the exhaust. Also, it was a manuel automatic, you have to shift gears but there is no clutch. NOT what I would want. I am hoping to find a van to purchase so I can travel. My budget is low. I live in south Florida. Maybe we will cross paths. Continue having fun on your journeys! ✔️😀

Sadly, the U.S. government does everything possible to discourage people from going to Mexico. 90% of their warnings are based upon lies! Yes, there are some places/areas you should avoid, but realistically it’s much safer than a lot of American cities. I’m soooooo glad that you enjoyed Baja. It is a magical place!🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🙏🏼
90% of th Mexican population lives in mexico city, tijuana, merida, and mexicali and yes the reports on corruption are 100% accurate. I've been to Mexico and most of it is country and desert but in those cities crime is crazy, Mexico is top 10 in crime in the world for a reason.

I suspect part of the problem is that we are now hypersensitive to negative events no matter where they happen. Meanwhile we assume that things are better in our home area ignoring the local reports.

I am living in Mexico now for the past 2.5 years after living the nomad life in a van. I have a Scwabb ATM card and they give back all fees charged on ATM withdrawals. This is true for anywhere in the world including the US. I have used it in 42 countries.

Great video!! Traveling to Mexico can be dangerous but it was worth the experience with having a new adventure. Along with traveling back to the United States. The seaside is always the best thing to see in any coast.
I wish you'd talked more about the restaurants. I've traveled to Baja several times with my parents, and my (now ex-) wife. Ate at restaurants in Tijuana and Ensenada. None of us were/are vegan/vegetarian. But, we always had great meals at great prices in both places. And, no "Montezuma's Revenge". I also wish you'd talked about the quality of the local; beer & wine. Not all of it is exported to the U.S., unfortunately. One of my favorite Baja memories was touring Bodega Santo Thomas in Ensenada. I'm surprised your walkie-talkies made it across the border OK and weren't confiscated during inspections. Usually, 2-way radios are suspect in the best of cases. Even if a Mexican ham radio license is shown, hams have had their rquipment taken on occasion. One of your better videos...
No personal experience at all with this so take this for what it's worth. I'd heard that if Starlink detects that you are mobile that you get de-prioritized for service. (vs a stationary remote location)
California has strict regulations to protect against pests and disease including pathogens that can infect potatoes. It’s enforced to protect agriculture but I wish It were enough to assure them my stomach would do the job for them!
@@Maddie.taylor Unless you were going to use the eyes to grow more potatoes (seed potato), not sure how it would affect anybody but you or any other plants. But then again, you live in California, no offense. 😉
Just offering a different point of view here, but here it goes... Baja is sacred. A lot of us gringos have been enjoying it for decades and kept a lot of the areas close to the chest for good reason. The last couple years with Van life, I have seen a lot of changes, and not for the better. It is irresponsible to promote people to travel and vanlife in Baja. The lands are untouched and beautiful for a reason.... people weren't going there and living rent free for weeks/months on end. It just bums me out to see people coming down for the first time and utilizing the limited resources then profiting off publishing TH-cam videos for personal gains. The more people coming down will only cause more bad guys to go further to try and rob you. The more people only will cause damage to the beauty of the land, and will eventually be gone forever.
They were far more polite than the US immigration officials.Not all but some are the nastiest I have ever seen.I remember being in Abu Dhabi and remember one female officer literally shouting and talking in the worst possible way to a poor girl just because she got some pickle.She didn’t protest or even ask to be allowed to take the bottle but that lady just talked down to her in the worst manner I have ever seen!
