    This sort of video - going into less “hardcore” luxury brands - is making us, consumers, take pride in our choices though they may not go as viral or post-worthy as the higher-end brands. Again, thank you for posting this!

      Likewise - for 1/4 price of 1 Birkin you can have an entire wardrobe of Longchamp that you will leave to your grandkids.
      The brand stands behind the products. They even repair tiny holes in the corners of Le Pliage for free - on a $130 bag! And they send it to France!
      They are my most useful bags for travel, and the 3D and (sadly discontinued) Balzane are so good for everything and such good (useful) design I’d trade my Balenciaga or Chloe for one - they’re pretty, but not practical, and I don’t use them nearly as often.

      I had tiny holes in the bottom corners of my Pliage, which is now 20 years old, and they sent it back to France to repair them, also for free. And when the strap split on a leather crossbody, they said it was a known issue so they sent to back to France and replaced the strap with an entirely new leather strap made differently to address the issue - on a five years old bag - also for free. Customer for life.

    Bought a small canvas pliage in Paris for around £100 and have used nearly everyday since for home and work- through seasons and weather (probably 8 years). Handles still look ok and just started developing some small holes around the base- but still looks smart and classic and I don’t baby the bag at all. Bought an identical replacement and have it ready to go when the original finally wears out. For me it’s a forever classic everyday bag- high quality at a very affordable price. It can even go in the washing machine if needed 😂

    Interesting video with very fair comments that enable us to make up our minds about the brand. I love that they still have physical shops and that some production is still in France. Neat review! I've had a Le Pliage bag for over 15 years and another for just over 10. I also have a patent leather Le Pliage around 10-15 years old, and it is in perfect condition. Both of my nylon Le Pliage bags are in fantastic condition! The company fixed the corners on both bags for free, and they are now just like new. For the people in the comments who have said that they used their bags in university and that they only lasted for 2.5 years...it's likely that they just don't take care of their things, which is on them, not on the company. I've used mine in inclement weather and have travelled with them.

    I was curious about this brand and glad to see you review it. I'm also glad to see you are including some comparison information on the in-store experience, as I think that is part of the "value proposition" that luxury brands are trying to sell (whether you accept/believe it is worth the price or not is another story). I would also love to see more discussion about the level of warranty/upkeep/after-purchase support offered by luxury brands vs. mass market brands, as, again, I think this area is where many luxury brands are trying to offer something different than mass market brands. In any event, I greatly enjoy your channel and your unique and expert perspective on leather quality and construction in your discussions. I am leather-tained!

    • @bec215h.7
      @bec215h.7 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You might see here in other comments - including mine - Longchamp IMO is giving better post sale support than many so called luxury brands. They will even repair little holes than can develop over time at the corners of the Pliage if you use it with a laptop, and they do it for free. On a ~$130-150 bag! They are lovely to work with. Yeah it’s a little more salsey than the big name fashion houses, but you’ll be welcomed in, offered water, allowed to touch and wear things, and generally treated like a real customer - and the leather bags only get better with age. I’ve had some for twenty years and they’re perfect, but when a strap split on a crossbody they didn’t blame me - they said it’s a known issue, no questions, sent it back to France, they replaced with a new design strap without the issue, reconditioned the bag, and returned it - for free. The bag was 5 yrs old at that point, and had traveled all over the world with me and i was not easy on it. It looked brand new!

    I had 2 nylon longchamp bags over the last 10 years, bought the first one when I started my bachelors and the other one when I almost finished my Masters, I used the later for work as well for 2-3 years.🤓For whatever reason, I feel it is my best bag, because I have used them almost all the time for work, study, and travel in the past 10 years. The four corners are broken, but I can throw it on the ground casually, and it doesn't matter if liquid spills inside. They serves me well.😬

    I do wish you could have tested some of their other of leathers since they really make so few suede pieces.
    I would love to also see your opinion on the leathers they are more known for to those of us who love them like the foulonne leather (tumbled leather), Roseau (probably their most iconic leather bags) and newest line - the boxtrot.

      They have smooth and also pebble leather products, and they’re known for the light weight of their bags - it’s sort of a signature. It’s the only men’s bag my husband will carry because all the others game felt so heavy/bulky my comparison. They also make a leather Pliage - it’s Métis, a goat-lamb hybrid leather that is soft and pliable like lamb but strong and more scratch resistant like goat. (It’s what Chanel should be using instead of their infamously fragile lamb, imo!)

    I am glad to hear your conformation Longchamp is a great brand.
    Regarding your costing, it would be fairer to not just factor material and labour only but include overhead costs such as rent and running costs of the factory and stores, design and build of the stores, marketing cost and research and development cost. Any surplus after these extra costs would be the luxury brand premium.

    Longchamp has been my favourite brand name to go to, not only because of the price points but also the language design. However, Longchamp might be more well-known for their signature diamond pattern cowhide leather which can be seen on the flaps of the Le Pliage line or their SLG. Anw, really enjoy your content and hope to see more!

    Good breakdown of Longchamp. It's unfortunate that you got a bag made in China. Long champ bags are made in seven different countries. If you had looked at the country of origin label inside each bag on that shelf you probably would have come across some made in Morocco Tunisia France Romania etc.

      +1 I have bags from France, Morocco, and Tunisia, and the it’s an open secret that the tanneries in Morocco supplying LC also supply Hermes (I was there on vacation but was reading a local business magazine in the airport - supply chain is my background so I geek out on this stuff). Balenciaga has some gorgeous goat and lamb leather, but overall a Saint think you can beat the value for quality of LC.

    I used to buy only Longchamp bags. I don’t need to buy anymore because they are still in good shape and I wear them daily. I don’t buy them nowadays as I think design over years is repetitive and prices doubled or tripled.

    I looove Longchamp. It’s my first designer handbag and I’ve been using it for 11 years! I wanted to buy another one when I traveled to Toronto in December of last year but the SA in the Premium Outlet was verrry unfriendly borderline Rude.

    • @tanner.leatherstein
      @tanner.leatherstein  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's wonderful to hear that you've been enjoying your Longchamp handbag for 11 years! It's always disappointing when a poor customer service experience taints an otherwise positive brand association. Have you considered exploring other authorized retailers or online platforms for purchasing another Longchamp bag? There are likely better avenues to acquire the bag without having to endure unpleasant interactions.
