    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      when you do, I suggest getting a 3mm (~1/8") or so sized chisel. The table saw setup to get the half laps right takes a *long* time, and gives you very little room to tweak it. A dozuki and 3mm chisel is how I'll be doing the next lamp.

    Paul, are the Kumiko strips 1/8” or 1/4” or another size? Looks like you had two blade kerfs for your half lap? Also, you mentioned wanting to use a dozuki and chisel instead next time. Why so?

  • @kenrebro2746

    Excellence Mr. Jenkins. I'm getting ready to use mulberry paper for my first attempt at shoji lamps. Any tips for attaching the paper? Is normalTtitebond (blue) wood glue ok? Looks like you cut the paper large by 3/4, applied glue and spritz it twice with the water bottle. Thanks for sharing- again superb work.

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure. I used riceglue. I can't see Titebond II having an issue, though III might be better. The water spritzing is to 'tension' it after the fact.

  • @nigeldavies8900
    @nigeldavies8900 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Y did you cut the strips on the bandsaw and not the table saw?

    • @TheWoodKnight
      @TheWoodKnight  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They were pretty small at 10x5mm. They could have been done on the tablesaw, but it felt safer with the bandsaw
