  • In this episode, recorded at the one year mark of the October 7th attack on Israel, and the ensuing gen0c!de of the Palestinians in Gaza - that is still ongoing! - Elik and Alon speak about everything that happened in the last year.
We discuss how our worldview changed, how we distanced ourselves from the Zionist cult, and how we found a new community - the movement to free Palestine.

Yeah we're thinking a lot about that. As for now it seems that the Zionist regime, and Israeli society in general, have decided to just ignore us completely instead of persecuting us. I have no idea when and if that might change, but if it does I would definitely consider leaving to somewhere else until Zionism dissolves...

That is so naive for a place with so little trust between the populations like in Israel.
Two states solution is the way to end the conflict. This can happened when the Arabs decide they abandon the deadly and failed agenda of from the river to the sea.
When you decide you love and wish for your children to have a bright future and this will be more important than destroying the Jewish state than we can build this brighter future.

Your conversations are so valuable, not just because you interrogate the situation in a very philosophical way but also because they're so personal, and few if any other people are doing this and also because you are two young anti Zionist Israelis. You're bound to be grieving the loss of a sense of belonging and having a place to call home that lives up to the narratives you grew up with. It's so sad from all sides. You didn't ask to be born in a settler colonial state or an apartheid state. That's a function of blind fate. But you didn't totally fall for the propaganda and you're doing your bit to change the narrative and ultimately the reality, which is brave when you're in such a tiny minority and your communities are so fanatical and extreme. Who knows what's going to happen in Palestine and elsewhere. There are powerful forces, not just Israeli extremists, around the globe, and especially in the US, who absolutely do not want peace. I hope you both stay safe.

Yes, we are fighting extremely powerful forces all around the world. This is why everyone that truly believes in peace, justice, equality and freedom for EVERYONE should come together. When we create connections between us, we become much more powerful, and this gives us a chance to actually resist the oppressive system. This is one of the main reasons I do what I do on social media - because it helps me find my allies and slowly build a community, which is the first step towards meaningful resistance.

I am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart that you have had to feel like this. I’m from the UK, and yes we certainly have our issues over here but I can’t relate to your reality in Isreal at all, and that’s heartbreaking. I love your channel, been following you both for a while here and on Yalla, thank you for all you are doing. You are both very brave. Yes, the experience of opening up to the world, that is finally talking about what's going on in Palestine, and discovering how many good people who agree with me and appreciate what I have to say (instead of the usual contempt, ridicule, rejection and violence that I get here, inside the cult) has been truly wonderful and inspiring, and it gives me more and more strength and optimism with each passing day. For that I thank all the people in this online "community" that is being created here. And maybe some day I can even remove the quotation marks - who knows?
About the discord server - that's a really good idea! I will definitely consider it, only thing is that I have zero knowledge on how to create and maintain such a server, and quite frankly I'm already swamped just with keeping this TH-cam channel and my Instagram page and creating content for them, so I don't know if I'm up for the task of managing another project 😅

I keep telling my brother we should build a self sufficient commune with a huge community garden with a tiny house for each member or our "tribe." That would be real living. I really started wanting this after reading Civilized to Death: The Price of Progress. @@HebrewCanaanite It's not a book about anarchy, nor is it very political. It's a socio-anthropology work. It goes through the history of humanity and how civilization is a type of de-evolution in way. I listened to the audio version read by the author. It was such a good book. And made me question what civilization has done for us really and how states and borders are delusions and inhumane concepts. Pre-'civilization' nomadic/semi-nomadic human beings (especially foragers) were more egalitarian, cooperative, peaceful, collective and healthier in all ways (emotionally, psychologically, physically). Imperialists, Colonists, Nationalists used this ideology of a 'civilized' society to oppress us when it has actually made us savages. One of my favorites works at the moment.

The same way Turkey and Israel are the first ones to point out each other’s genocide, Israel and Spain do the same thing with self determination/independence movements.
“Israeli lawmaker Sharren Haskel proposed on Thursday that Israel respond to Spain recognizing a Palestinian state by recognizing the independence of Catalonia, the Basque Country, Galicia, the Canary Islands, and other Spanish regions seeking to break away.
The Blue and White parliamentarian sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Israel Katz, arguing that if recognition of Palestinian statehood is based on a minority expressing an uncompromising desire for independence, then the Spanish request must be honored first of all in its own sovereign territory.”
It would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic.

And I feel this to my core, the anger and horror and despair of knowing that this is the case. And I know that it will demolish my soul if I don't at the same time imagine a future where there are no fighter jets and we all live together peacefully and equally, and resolve to do everything that I can - however little that may be - to make such a future possible.

It also has no way of dealing with historic inequalities created by class society, colonization, etc. let alone stuff like the ecological disaster we are confronted with. You can always point to some figures like Milei who claim the anarcho-capitalist label, to show that it is just an extreme form of neoliberalism... However, like for neoliberalism, socialism, anarchism, etc people can always argue that it just hasn't been properly tried yet. I will keep my eyes open for some sources. @@HebrewCanaanite For now I found this paragraph, part of a lengthy text, 'Anarchism: Arguments for and against,' by anarcho-communist Albert Meltzer, which mentions anarcho-capitalism.
Subheading in the text: Is Anarchism Compatible with Capitalism?
It is only possible to conceive of Anarchism in a form in which it is free, communistic, and offering no economic necessity for repression or countering it. Common sense shows that any capitalist society might dispense with a “State” (in the American sense of the word) but it could not dispense with organised Government, or a privatised form of it, if there were people amassing money and others working to amass it for them. The philosophy of “anarcho-capitalism” dreamed up by the “libertarian” New Right, has nothing to do with Anarchism as known by the Anarchist movement proper. It is a lie that covers an unpleasant reality in its way - such as National Socialism does in another. Patently unbridled capitalism, not even hampered by a reformist State, which has to put some limits on exploitation to prevent violent clashes in society, needs some force at its disposal to maintain class privileges, either from the State itself or from private Armies. What they believe in is in fact a limited State - that is, one in which the State has one function, to protect the ruling class, does not interfere with exploitation, and comes as cheap as possible for the ruling class. The idea also serves another purpose beyond its fulfillment - a moral justification for bourgeois consciences in avoiding taxes without feeling guilty about it - just as pacifism sometimes serves as an excuse for bourgeois consciences in avoiding danger without feeling guilty. War - ancient and modern (John Dewey)
...We may take the Iliad as a classic expression of war's traditional psychology as well as the source of the literary tradition regarding its motives and glories. But where are Helen, Hector and Achilles in modern warfare? The activities that evoke and incorporate a war are no longer personal love, love of glory, or the soldier's love of his own privately amassed booty, but are of a collective, prosaic political and economic nature.
Universal conscription, the general mobilization of all agricultural and industrial forces of the folk not engaged in the trenches, the application of every conceivable scientific and mechanical device, the mass movements of soldiery regulated from a common center by a depersonalized general staff: these factors relegate the traditional psychological apparatus of war to a now remote antiquity. The motives once appealed to are out of date; they do not now induce war. They simply are played upon after war has been brought into existence in order to keep the common soldiers keyed up to their task. The more horrible a depersonalized scientific mass war becomes, the more necessary it is to find universal ideal motives to justify it. Love of Helen of Troy has become a burning love for all humanity, and hatred of the foe symbolizes a hatred of all the unrighteousness and injustice and oppression which he embodies. The more prosaic the actual causes, the more necessary is it to find glowingly sublime motives.

I think the left in Spain is divided on Catalunya. However, I think that in Catalunya the left is more pro independence or for more autonomy. Like Catalan nationalism has a working class left slant to it. There might be some parallels to Scottish and Welsh nationalism. Flemish nationalism, although it originally did included genuine left demands like the right to education in your own language, has very much become dominated by the right or far right. Flanders is richer now so it is pay-back and we should not share with the rest of the country.
The Carles Puigdemont sneaking back into Catalonia for an appearance definitely was cool. However, the guy is a rather right-wing neoliberal politician. So okay, to oppose his persecution by the Spanish state is good because the Calalan people should have the democratic right to chose independence. However, I wouldn't support Puigdemont otherwise.

I don't mind failing in this world
I don't mind failing in this world
Some people ride in a car so fine
While others walk on a picket line, so
I don't mind failing in this world
