Jalen Duren Scouting Report | 2022 NBA Draft Breakdowns

  • Jalen Duren has one of the most NBA ready physical profiles of the last several years and he happens to still be one of the youngest in this draft class. HIs season kind of went how Memphis's as a whole did. Ups and downs at the start, some injuries but ultimately, Duren proved himself as a potential top 10 pick.

    I think he'd 100% fit in San Antonio at their 7-9 pick. Having a guard like Dejounte playing next to him along with going to an organization that knows how to round out players and raise their floors would definitely play on his strengths as a player, especially since it seems that he's a more faceted player than he's shown in Memphis.

    • @gremcilia_immermurin
      @gremcilia_immermurin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Maybe I'm crazy but I think Jeremy Sochan has more upside than Duren as an elite defender and half-court playmaker.

    • @impeccabulljay9737
      @impeccabulljay9737 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@gremcilia_immermurin I don't disagree, Sochan reminds me of Shawn Marion in how many things he can do on the court. It's just about fit and what role you're asked to play once you go to a team. If Jeremy goes to the right team he could definitely become one of the most well-rounded players in the league, just comes down to what team wants to take a chance on him in the lottery over a guy like Duren who has a predictable impact coming into the league as shot-blocking rim runner on day 1.

    • @marco477utep
      @marco477utep 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We can have both Poltel and Duran. Having Poltel as center and Collins as power foward or switch Duran a center and Collins as power forward.

    • @impeccabulljay9737
      @impeccabulljay9737 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@57wookie Poeltl does a lot of great things, but he has holes as a player. Duren is a young prospect who can emulate and learn from Poeltl strengths while also learning how to be the best version of himself on both ends. His ceiling is higher than Jakob's as well. It's kind of, pick the best player, regardless of if you're already filled at that position type of thing.

    Ideal fit for me would be with the Pistons. Him and Cade would do wonders and help each other out tremendously. Cade operated best last year with Marvin Bagley as a floor spacing center. Now imagine what he can do with Jalen Duren. Duren never played with a good point guard in college and mostly all of his HS career. Having Cade would help him tremendously.

    As a Pistons fan I see a less silly version of Andre Drummond when I look at Jalen. Could be great next to Cade.
    That body at that age with the defensive instincts and rebounding ability if molded correctly by the right hands could be flat out scary.

    I see a young Jermaine O'neal. Not quite as smooth, but a lot stronger at that age. Although he doesn't know how to use it on the court yet. His whole rookie contract will be used as development.

    If he can shoot, they're going to call him Kaven Duren lol.

    His face-ups reminds me of KG. So far he's looking like a bigger Gerald Wallace

    The Pels could definitely use him, put him behind JV and let him learn. We can use him against guys like Ayton, Joker, KAT, and Draymond. Defense in the paint is a must, especially next to defensive stoppers like Jose, and Herb.

    Hornets at #13.
    Take him over Mark Williams who is too one dimensional.
    Duren is immensely athletic. Good pace. Shoots. Blocks. Good wingspan. Good height.
    Hornets is looking for a center that doesn't need 4 years in the G league. And he's just 18 going to 19. Williams will be 21 on draft night.

      Use picks to move up to get him if he at 9 or 10. Or Keep picks and Hope Williams Sochan and Kessler still on the board.

    Depending on where my Knicks end up at in the lottery, if we are at the back end, I’d love for the. To take this monster! Do a sign and trade with Robinson to get back a asset, maybe another pick in the draft and find a PG or SF. Again, this all depends on draft position.

      I wouldn't mind letting Robinson go, draft duren and sign a veteran pg. With our guard spot congested and no future starting pg in this draft to really chase, we should strengthen our big spot. Mitch, burke, and randle can go and play the youth

      @@CaptSlim I wouldn’t frown on drafting Duren if he were to be in our draft position.

    SGA, Giddy, Poku, Chet, Duren. Dort could be traded with the clippers pick to move back up to get Duren to complete the draft. Time to develop.
