This is good info. My valve is stuck and I didn't know which one to buy so now I believe it's a 1225. Coupled with another video that suggested using a cartridge puller, I think I'll go ahead and try replacing it. Thanks for the info!
Is the 1222 and 1225 interchangeable ? I'm not a fan of the 1222, I prefer the 1225 since you can set your own water pressure by pulling it slowly. But if not, it won't be a deal breaker, but would like to know if I can take out the 1222 and replace it with a 1225 and buy a 1225 handle to go with it.
Depends actually on the valve body for that more than the cartridge. Theoretically, if the OD of the cartridge and length are identical (believe they are the same dimension) then you could. But the problem lies in how the design of the Valve body it fits into actually works. You might just block it from working The safest bet. Is to change the valve entirely, but that's far more of a pain in the butt. Full disclosure i am totally unaware at all if the cartridges are interchangeable and can be swapped out with eachother. I woukd imagine not, since how they function as valves works differently. But idk if it's different enough to change anything drastically. Youre probably stuck with the 22s.
I'm on a residential well with fairly low water pressure and have a Moen kitchen faucet that uses 1224 cartridges. Is there a hack to modify the cartridge for higher flow....i.e. disassemble and drill out the center shaft hole or other????
Frank fritzges,,no,,,,. 1224??,, It should be a 1225,, for a single handle faucet,,, 2 handle possibly,,, usually the 1224 are in the shower two handles,,,, remove the aerator in the kitchen faucet,, from the end of the spout it has a regulator for 1.5 gallons a minute,,, that should help you,,,, you should have at least 40 to 50 lb of pressure??? In the house??
I have a single handle moen shower faucet. In the shutoff position the handle is down like 6:30pm hour hand. I rotate it counterclockwise to get to 9pm hour hand position to get maximum hot water. The cartridge leaks so I bought a 1222 Moen cartridge to replace it. I noticed that the old one does not have H/C marking at all. After replacement the shut off position is now like 2pm hour hand and cold is 9pm and hot is 6:30pm. What is wrong?
From your description it's a positemp valve does not pull on or push off,,,, you've gotten an aftermarket moen cartridge,,,, turn off the water turn the cartridge around 180°, and you should be okay,, let me know,,, also what state are you in out of curiosity
@@b-n-pplumbingandmaint.3567 After reversing the 1222 cartridge so that H|C is down the same problem exists (sort of). 1pm is still the off position, 6 pm is cold (was hot) and 9am is hot (was cold). However there is no mixing of hot and cold, either a lot more hot or a lot more cold water flow but there is no temperature change. I bought this from Home Depot and it said genuine Moen part on it.
Hey. I have a Moen Eva shower faucet, it started to get stiff when turning it on until it just stopped working completely. Plumber tried taking out the cartridge n it broke up in pieces now I can't tell which cartridge I need. I had bought the moen brantford shower trim posi-tempt to replace the eva with, can the 1222 cartridge work?
yes but make sure it is a moen brand,,home depot and others sell a generic version,,,and will bypass the hot water....was this old one a pull on push off type shower handle???
No it's not a pull on push off. It turns o with a clock motion. I live in Jamaica so gonna have to source it online. The house's shower is not setup to use hot water. Thank you so much
I couldn't tell the number for the cartridge cause it was corroded with chlorine and couldn't come out in one piece but pieces. Based on the series for the type of faucet trim Eva T2132 , I assume it is the 1222 1222B cartridge that I'd need

shamus mckoy remove the shower head and check the regulator disc for sediment,,, better yet throw it away,,, or you could have a bad cart,,,, thanks for the comment!!!!!
Moen refused to send me a new 1222 cartridge, lifetime warranty not transferable is what they told me because I was not the original owner of the home.

Return it exchange it for a different cartridge,,,,, sometimes they are defective

I replaced my cartridge perfectly with a brand new cartridge and now have low water pressure in just that shower. Send help lol. Faulty new cartridge?
