- In this video tutorial, I will show you guys how to turn off or disable BitLocker Encryption in Windows 11.
PowerShell Commands:
manage-bde -status
Disable-BitLocker -MountPoint "F:"
manage-bde -off F:

Liked & subscribed. I had Seagate recover data from my drive. Not only did they send me a new 8TB HDD on warranty but they recovered my data on an external 4TB HDD but it had BitLocker encryption & was annoying because I had to enter a password on every reboot of my PC. Now BitLocker is gone! Thank you so much my friend! Easy process!
will it work if the drive is locked?....in your case the drive was unlocked!

9/25/24 works exactly in the video. One thing of note, tho I had to unlock the drive first, then RUN the steps.

Bro THANK YOUUUUUUU!!!!! EVERY time I turned my laptop off, I would have to search for this damn encryption key so I could unlock THREE folders in my drive. Stupid windows 11 dosent even have a bitlocker option smh

Control Panel -> Privacy and Security -> Device Encryption => Turn off

SOLUTION : do not execute se second command. Execute the first command , then execute the Third command .

Thank, wanted to downgrade from windows 11 to 10 after disabling vmd driver in bios but then partition for my ssd had bitlocker on it. This tutorial helped get rid of the issue.

Tried to remove it from System drive but caught this: Disable-BitLocker : BitLocker Drive Encryption cannot be turned off on the operating system drive until the auto
unlock feature has been disabled for the fixed data drives and removable data drives associated with this computer. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80310029)

You could only do this if your unlocking part of a partition inside a disk , and you are still have command of window 11 inside that disk where your partition is.
But you cannot do this if your disk is locked and you are using a USB flash drive with windows on it.

Great video but(!): The decription can take a really long time if you have big size discs. Let the computer take it's time for this! Go out and have lunch or something...

Not work for local disk C and i did reinstall windows 11 the disk did not show up, i need to brows app to make disk show up but when the disk show up is part 2 idk why not in part 0 or 1 ? Device laptop hp.

data drives associated with this computer." I think it's bc I'm using windows (11) home, and Bitlocker Drive Encryption isn't an explicit option for me in control panel or right clicking the drive and show more options.
edit: nm, for the folks in a similar situation, the settings were Control Panel -> Privacy and Security -> Device Encryption

If the encrypted volume is an OS volume being used, I get this message in RED: "Bitlocker Drive Encryption cannot be turned off on the operating system drive until the auto unlock feature has been disabled for the fixed data drives and removable data drives associated with this computer"

how would I re-enable encryption. I dont have windows 11 pro so I cant upload my key the microsoft cloud using the gui. For now I just want to re-enalbe encryption in the command prompt.
