Oh, have to add another comment - welcome to beautiful Northern Minnesota for your vacation! We live about 2 hours from Biwabik. Just be prepared, the mosquitoes are extra plentiful this year due to all of the rain we have had so bring some repellant!

Hello Carla, I have enjoyed your podcast. I learned to knit socks from the Easy Peasy socks by Stacey Trock, then the Rose City Rollers came into my life and I was off. I have knit 157 pairs of socks and probably 75-80 of them have stayed with me the others have been gifted.
Congratulations on all the things!! My husband and I celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary on July 3rd. Thanks for sharing all the yarny goodness. I always enjoy your episodes.

Oh my goodness. My first sox for hubbie were also quite large. I LOVE that your hubs said "Make sure you tell them how much I love them." He is totally knitworthy! You asked how many hand knit socks we have. Less than 10 for me, but my gift box has several pairs that are conveniently just my size. Happy late birthday also!

you’re having quite a special month! happy birthday, (29th!) anniversary, 100th podcast, and 1,000 subscribers! this was a fun episode. i love your scrappy cowl - i made too many like that during the first years of covid, but only using one color, because i just could not do stripes well (but thanks to you and hey, brownberry i can now make stripes - i’m so excited! i have a mega scrappy sock mojo going on!). you’ll love your double mittens when winter comes - i cobbled together some double mittens some years ago, and they are sooo warm. you might be surprised when you go through all of the socks that you’ve knit - when i did that a few months ago, i found that i really didn’t have the zillions that i thought i had, because i’d actually given a few hundred away :). have a great trip up north - relax, talk, knit, eat, hike, enjoy! (no gift, thanks)

Congratulations on all the things!! Happy birthday and enjoy your vacation! The location sounds like my kind of spot for quite and nature. The item I knit the most is socks! I enjoy many crafts as well, most of those you listed. I did not get into plastic canvas although one of the ladies in my crafting group did. Playing the piano is something I wanted to learn as a teen. I never took lessons. I still would like to learn and I know it is not too late!
Congratulations 🎉 on your 100th episode and over 1K subscribers 🎉 I started LOL’ing when you were asking how many pairs of socks do we have for ourselves - I think the last time I counted I was near 140 pairs and this year I have only been knitting maybe a pair a month this year, maybe I’m trying to reach the point where I can wear each pair once over the course of our cold weather 😂 BUT truly the more socks I have the less I wear/wash each pair and that much longer the socks will last me. I do have socks that I knit like 10-12 years ago. I don’t baby my socks, I do wear them in my shoes/winter boots and I wash them on the delicate/wool/cold wash cycle in my washer and hang them to air dry. 😊❤ Thanks for your wonderful episodes!

Congratulations on your 100th episode. I think I’ve been with you since the very beginning and always look forward to your next episode. I haven’t knit mittens but I was definitely intimidated by socks-that is until I learned magic loop and knit my very first pair just over 5 years ago! Now I have a sock drawer full of my socks, hubby has some and many have been gifted. Never knew they’d be so addictive! However, I recently knit a textured pair and frogged sock #1 as I could not tolerate the textured feeling on the top of my foot and the leg, even with simple stockinette on the sole. So vanilla socks from now on. A knitting friend has the same issue so I’d be curious if other knitters have this same experience.

I am starting a cute whale bag crocheted. The pattern was released today! I have the yarn in my stash, but I had to order the zipper and carabiners. The pattern is by Garnknuten from Finland.

I think I’m like you on the sweaters, although I have to say that I’ve made 2 ranunclus sweaters (3rd one is in my needles) and I really like the fit of that sweater. Another one I’ve made is the Color Block Raglan and I liked the fit of that one too. (Unfortunately, it was put in the wash and shrunk.). I need to make another one! Wonderful episode Carla and congratulations on it being the 100th episode! Yay! I loved seeing all of those dishcloths - please don’t apologize or stop showing them. I love my comfort knits and I consider dishcloths to be one of those items. I too have been disappointed after I finish knitting a sweater of summer top. I think that I imagine a different fit and it isn’t quite right. I’m still working on that though. 😅 Have fun on vacation and hope you get to relax and knit a bunch by the beautiful lake.
Well if we are counting socks in our sock drawer 😱 , just my drawer only, at least 50 pairs 😮. I have probably knit over 200 pair of sock between what I have in my drawer, and my husband’s drawer. I have sent probably another 150 pairs socks to other family members all totaled as well.
Yes, I am retired and can spend all my time knitting. Lucky me 🙏🏻

I’m glad I’m not the only one who psychs themselves out on projects! I recently was working on a sweater, the body was finished and one sleeve. Despite trying it on a bunch of times, the sleeve just wasn’t right. There was too much fabric on the front and not enough in the back. 😢 I frogged the whole thing and will be starting over this fall. Ive only been knitting socks for about a year. I have 10 pair for me but I’ve made several for others! So much to celebrate! Enjoy your vacation!

My sister is a piano teacher. All of my siblings and I play at least one instrument.
I recently started my first sweater. I have been a knitter for many years, but with 4 young kids it just wasn't possible to have enough uninterrupted time to knit anything more than simple projects. Now that my youngest will be 8 next month, I think I might be able to get enough quiet time to work on and finish my first sweater.
I have around 40 ish pair of hand knitted socks that I’ve made 😆
