It is so cute how Morticia can tell right away what Gomez will do when she speaks French. That scene where he's not paying attention is so heartbreaking yet funny at the same time. XD
According to some interviews that I have seen with John Astin, he and Carolyn Jones were attracted to each other but they never mentioned this to each other when they were were working on the Addams Family. Years later, when Carolyn had cancer, John had a last meeting with her and he confessed to her that he had always loved her. John gave the eulogy at Carolyn's funeral.
This series and these characters are so eternal. It's almost 60 years since it first aired and it's still as engaging and funny as ever. The actors, writers and designers just came together and made something utterly timeless. In another 60 years I'm sure people will still be watching and wishing they were an Addams. ♥️
this comment kinda aged bad considering how terribly they just rebooted the Addams family w/ Wednesday :( it absolutely strips the show and characters of their original charm, sadly. I don’t think the generations to come will know of the original lovely family they all were due to Wednesday’s popularity + the dysfunctional portrayal of them all within the show :((

This show managed to be more realistic than the “normal” sitcom families of the day. A married couple actually showing romantic affection, and who spend equal time with both children instead of the stereotypical father/son mother/daughter segregation. The only criticism I have is the laugh track
It's sad that if couples in real life treat each other in a manner similar to Gomez and Morticia, people tend to call them sickeningly sweet, immature, gross, or childish. But I would take a relationship like this any day over one filled with daily bickering, yelling, silent treatments, and anger.
What saves it from being so sickeningly sweet is how cooly understated Morticia conducts herself. She is never all over him, but clearly loves all of his attention, so she saves it from the realm of the immature/"get a room" vibe.
I love all the "Tish! You spoke French!" moments🤣🤣🤣in this video. MGM could probably compile 30 minutes of every one of those T!YSF! scenes into one video. If they did that I'd watch it over and over, never tiring of it
It says something really sad about society that 90% of the jokes about Gomez and Morticia were just that they were a healthy relationship still as in love as the day they met.
In an era when couples on TV were bickering and misunderstanding each other, the Addams showed what love should look like, and they continue to do so to this day.
Wow. John Astin really must be whatever species the Addams are. And I mean that in a good way. The Addams are the type of family that time can't touch. If they were real and were around now, they would be exactly the same as they were 60 years ago. And will be the same 60 years from now.

very true. Gomez and Morticia actually have a healthy, happy relationship that works, appearing by all counts to be based on actual mutual love and respect. Joker and Harley? Ummm... no. Just... no. Nothing like that at all.
I saw that, apparently, Gomez's actor was given a lot of free range to do what he wanted with the character. (Since at the time, they were only nameless comics) But John Astin picked the name Gomez for him from two options. So it's funny imagining that most of Gomez's wild attractions to Morticia were just John having fun with the free range he was given.
