  • Opening my Behringer Toro synth and demonstrating its sounds using my Roland PK5-A MIDI pedals, fresh from Sweetwater sound via FedEx. Behringer nailed it with this Moog Taurus clone. It sounds so great and I'm looking forward to using this in my music. Let me know your favorite Taurus riff of all time.

    The tone from the Toro is spot on. I’ve owned all versions of the Moog Taurus pedals and the Toro has that frothy top end that defines the 70s Taurus sound. A huge winner.

    Original Taurus owner here. Sounds effin great! I've been thinking of getting one of these because frankly, my Taurus is almost 50 years old and it's kind of a pain to maintain (especially the contacts which tarnish/bend easily.) I got it serviced recently, not a real huge deal but it's just one of those "what's gonna happen next with this lovely but cranky old thing" type of situations.
    I recently got a Model D from Behringer have been very pleased with it. (I also have their Solina on preorder and am anxiously awaiting that.)
    Edit: favorite Taurus moment? Live version of La Villa Strangiato on Rush's Exit Stage Left, during Alex's solo. Sounds really atmospheric and upfront. That's what hooked me on the sound way back when.

      I'm glad to hear you're impressed! And I agree, La Villa Strangiato is a great Taurus song.

    First time I played Xanadu guitar along with the pedals was really magic. Gonna take a lot of practice before I’m good at it.

      Yeah, I was playing that the other day too. Definitely magic! Enjoy! 🤘🏼

    Lovely bass guitar sound play in combi with the Toro

    That's pretty cool for a guitar player who wants to play a bass synth simultaneously. I admit, it does sound very good. However, I didn't hear any sound from this box that couldn't be created on a Minimoog. Since I'm heavily into synths and I don't play guitar, I would honestly prefer a Minimoog, cost difference aside.

    Mine arrives later this week (I currently have a Minitaur). I intend on doing several comps between the 2. Anyway I forgot to mention some of my favorite Taurus riffs. Those would be Emotion Detector, Marathon, and Subdivisions. Genesis: Dance on a Volcano, Suppers Ready (Seconds out version).

      I re-discovered another classic Taurus song the other day: Clocks by Steve Hackett. In the video I believe it's Steve's brother playing a Taurus up on a stand, with his fists

      @rumplebunny that song is awesome. There's footage of Hackett's band playing it live and it's Steve's brother playing rhe Taurus pedals with his fists, and dropping those gigantic Taurus bombs.

      @@jonathanfrieze8497 None whatsoever. This thing is amazing. Seriously the best synth purchase I've ever made. Nails the sound 10000%, looks great and didn't break the bank. I expect this to be huge for Behringer.

    Just got mine yesterday. It’s sick! My only complaint is I would love to have the ability to edit the presets.
    Also, have you tried a firmware update? When I connect my toro to my phone the app says there’s nothing found (immediately tested my other behringer synths and they were all identified).

    • @twocargar
      @twocargar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Is there an update already?

    • @calebparkermusic
      @calebparkermusic ปีที่แล้ว

      @@twocargar ah, I just assumed there might be since they've been working on it so long and forgot it was just released. :D Went on the downloads page and there's no update on the website listed so I suppose that's why the synthtribe app doesn't recognize the Toro. Cheers!

    I’m new to the whole analog synth stuff. How do you tune this thing or does it not need to be tuned?

  • @jbass6182
    @jbass6182 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    What channel do you have the PK-5 set to to trigger the Toro? I can't get my PK-5 to connect with my Toro. I know the Toro works because I hooked it up to another midi keyboard which triggered it just fine. Just can't make it work with my PK-5. I don't know if the PK-5 is set to a different channel or if something is wrong with my PK-5. thanks!

    • @twocargar
      @twocargar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there. I made sure the Toro was set to channel 1 and then on the PK5, set it to channel 1 (press the MIDI Channel button on the PK5, then the C# key/pedal, then the B key/pedal). That worked for me. Also, double check your MIDI cable ports. The MIDI Out from PK5 should go to the MIDI In port on the Toro.

    • @RonTavalinProgBassist

      Had this problem - check the PK5a's octave to make sure it's not set too low - my Toro would not make any sound on the lowest octave setting, but my JV1010 does.
