The first Rathian I fought in Sunbreak gave me three Mantles. And those are the only Mantles I have gotten so far. Rathian used up all my Mantles drops...
@@jacktheomnithere2127 Anjanath is the one Monster so far where I tried to get a Mantle from because I wanted to craft his full armor set. 7 Anjanaths down. No Mantle so far.
Just wanted to point out that I think the math on the capturing vs carving is slightly wrong. In the example of Lunagaron, the probability of getting the jewel is 5.91% for capturing and 5.88% for carving in a single hunt. 2 mistakes were made here: (1) the math for calculating probability is wrong, and (2) captures give you at least 2 rewards (sometimes 3). The reason the math is wrong is because of independent events. Each carve is an independent event and you cannot simply add up their probabilities. To illustrate the point let us look at flipping a fair coin 2 times in a row. The coin is fair so 50% chance of heads or tails. If we use the same theory of adding the probability up as illustrated in the video we get 50%+50%=100% which would mean if I flip the coin 2 times in a row then I am definitely getting at least 1 head which we know is not true. We know that there are a total of 4 different outcomes of 2 coinflips: (1) HH (2) TT (3) HT (4) TH. So the probability is actually 75% of getting at least 1 head. The way to calculate if we do get at least 1 head in the 2 flips without having to list all outcomes is: P(at least 1 head) = 1 - P(no heads) = 1 - (0.5)^2 = 0.75. Now back to monster hunter if we use the equation we observed from that simple example and the fact that capture gives 3% chance per try while carve gives 2% chance per try we can work out the probability of getting at least 1 jewel using the following equations: P(at least 1 jewel with capture) = 1 - P(not getting jewels with capture) = 1 - (0.97)^2 = 0.0591 P(at least 1 jewel with carve) = 1 - P(not getting jewels with carve) = 1 - (0.98)^3 = 0.058808 If we consider the case that you actually got a 3rd capture reward: P(at least 1 jewel with capture) = 1 - P(not getting jewels with capture) = 1 - (0.97)^3 = 0.087327 However, I do not know what is the chances of getting the 3rd capture reward so I didn't compare with this. Hope this is clear to understand and sorry for the long comment. If there is anything wrong with my math/knowledge about capture feel free to discuss. Also thanks for the great video! Tldr: for lunagaron capture is still better than carve for jewel
Note that the chance of 5.91% is the minimum chance, because of the third that can happens. While the chance of getting 2 or 3 is unknown, we can assume that the chance is around 50%, and so, the chance is 0.0732135

4:25 I believe this example is actually incorrect? From what I understand, capture rewards are per box in the capture rewards list, which you get two of after each capture. So they both equal around 6% (with the capture having slightly better odds, due to weird probability math.) Add on capture master, and this is buffed to 3 boxes, with the 3% per box, which beats carving by quite a bit. Am I correct on this...? It’s somewhat difficult to find concrete information on this. (Also, the Golden Wirebug tip is amazing. I did not even think about that... And will certainly be using that later.)
Soo where'd you get the "x10 more materials" part from? What numbers/situations are we comparing? Or is it just an arbitrarily selected number because it's nice and big for the video title?
If you’re doing the golden wirebug, and two pilfer cats, you get tons more materials. Is it exactly 10%, nah but he helped you and you can stop being that guy in the yt comments yeah?
some extra tips: 1.When you capture something you get 2 rewards so if the percent of the item your trying to get is 3% that means with a capture you'll have 6%. 2. Barbania helmet also has capture master except it also has a lot more defense then the velociprey waist and also has weakness exploit.
No, you still have a 3% chance, which is also represented as 3/100, the two rewards are rolled independently of each other, this means you have a 6/200 chance of getting the item, which is the the same as 3/100, or 3%. You add both sides of the odds not just the first side, so 3/100 twice is 6/200, which is still 3/100 so actually adding is useless, the odds are the same no matter how many times you roll it.
@@Game2590 This is wrong 2 obviously rolling something twice isnt the same odds as rolling it once in order to determine probability you multiply the odds of it not happening so .97 and .97 giving .9406 so roughly a 6% chance
Well if this is correct then my main point still stands as carving gives a 2% chance 3 times meaning in your logic that’s just 6 out of 300 meaning that capturing is still better. Instead of them just being the same.
@@joelsieben3596 No, you don't, All that tells you is you have a 94% chance to get something else in both slots, the remaining 6% is irrelevant, this is why you don't calculate the odds of not getting it if you're trying to figure out the odds of actually getting it, because it makes the maths fucky and misleading. Really the chances based on that are 94% chance to not get one, 3% to get one in one slot, and 3% to get one in both slots, as they're the three possible outcomes based on that criteria, so it's still 3%, that isn't actually how it works though. What you're looking for is to get at least one mantle in either slot which would be 3/100 x 97/100 which becomes 291/10,000, from there you do 291 ÷ 10,000 = 0.0291 then do 0.0291 x 100 to easily convert to % and you get 2.91% chance to get at least 1 mantle from two rolls. So around 3% per hunt of getting one, this is why you just don't bother calculating it and simply say it's 3% full stop. This is why it's important to go for the option with the maximum rolls assuming equal chances, odds are the same but you get more rolls in the time you have As a side the actual math to figure out getting two is 3/100 x 3/100 which is 9/10,000 then 9 ÷ 10,000 = 0.0009, finally 0.0009 X 100 = 0.09, so you have a 0.09% chance of getting two. So you see two different ways of calculating have resulted in either a 3% chance to get two or a 0.09% chance, and they both can't be right. That fuckery is why they have specific rules for this, if you want the odds of getting a drop you have to include what you're after in the calculations.
I think a pretty good armor to make to help with this is also the Hawk set. It has capture master and good luck ok it. Alsp speed eating and quick sheathe. And also weakness exploit. Seems like it was made specifically for helping to farm. Ya know except that its missing part breaker.
Just so you know... Do not use Lottery Box on Palico. Not sure if it's glitched or what, but instead of rolling a random temporary skill, it straight up rolled OVER my existing skills and completely changed my Palico's roll. Now I'm on the back burner trying to get a new Palico, but I did have a decent one in reserve... Thank God.
pretty sure the capture reward percent is meant for every item you get. say you get 3 items from capture thatd be 3 different 3% chances for the rarest material. capture master would give more chances for extra items therefor giving more 3% chances because i highly doubt capcom would only make it a single chance per capture and not multiple chances whereas carving would have been made better in that way which is most likely not what they would want
4:34 wait I thought you get 2 cap rewards (3 with cap.master) and thus get 2/3 chances of 3% and 3/4(carvemaster) chances on carving. That would of course screw with may calculation (1-(1-0.03)^1) instead of ^2 or 3. And if that is the case, is this the same for target-rew. (Only one times the 3% change)?
I’m so used to World’s investigations and it hasn’t been quite clear on how I’m supposed to get more than 6 damn materials per hunt. All I can do is go on regular missions essentially at high rank and it’s just slow.
On a quest not for a rathalos I picked up a random lunagaron mantle from the ground, I then continued hunting the rathalos I was there for and it dropped a rathalos mantle
I have been hunting for a Narga Mantle for 2 days. In one of the hunts I mounted an Anjanath and later a Tobi to deal damage to Narga... So I barely interacted with them for more than 2 minutes. I got an Anjanath mantle from one of my cats in the end, I was pissed
Great video as always, I have one question if I may :) What about feeding the baby owl? 😅 I got the last boss mantle on 6th (I think) attempt which was the hunt where I fed the baby owl before heading out 😂 coincidence??? :O
Pilfer is enraging. 5x tigrex mantles from pilfer, but the kills/carves/rewards? Nodda. Took 27 tigrexes before one showed up in rewards, still yet to carve one. Pilfer's done 95% of my farming at this point, as all the excess also helped fund melds for talismans making some rough sets viable. I'll double butter dog if nothing needed, otherwise it's morb- I mean pilfering time. Edit: that was 5x pilfered tigrex mantles from a single double tigrex hunt (MR5 Seismic Scares).
I'll try some of these. I'm after Basarios lashes for my Gunlance gear, but cutting tails isn't that great with a Gunlance. You can't really blast your way through it, and that's half the moves of the Gunlance gone. Unless you hit the tip of the tail, you're likely to bounce. I just had a quest where I managed to cut the tail and I get 2 useless ores instead of the lash. No clue if the Palicoes can pilfer the lash, but we'll have to see in the end.
@@genericasianperson6405 Finding a group might work, but I just want to jump into the game when I like. Basarios might drop a lash on capture, but you really want the tail break for an 80% chance. I've tried jumping in with random players and it didn't do anything for me.
I have never in all my time in Rise ever gotten a rare gem from a Wyvern Ride drop - I am quite certain that the 1% drop rate refers to the Wyvern Tear drops, which is a separate thing than Wyvern Ride drops.
But my Gatherer cats have stolen 2 Rathian mantles already, so that is the best tip for "rare" materials. Once even when the Rathian wasn't the target - it just was a Wyvern Ride participant.

I wish I was in master rank, tried to buy sunbreak, my switch allowed that, then when it tried to download it wouldn't work, cuz apparently my account isn't valid... And I can't even play rise whilst this is happening 😭😭😭
What are the chances I have good luck on my skills and capture master and both palicoes for gathering and still gotten a mantle from a Rathalos and only ruby for the past five days. I give up sincerely
The carve example is basically the gamblers fallacy the odds never improve its always 2 percent, 3 carves would 6 in 300 which is still 2 in 100. Capture is better.
This is why I never capture when in someone else’s quest- they may be going for a carve only item for all I know🤷♂️. It’s just rude dangit. Just wanted to point out that I think the math on the capturing vs carving is slightly wrong.
Now back to monster hunter if we use the equation we observed from that simple example and the fact that capture gives 3% chance per try while carve gives 2% chance per try we can work out the probability of getting at least 1 jewel using the following equations:
P(at least 1 jewel with capture) = 1 - P(not getting jewels with capture) = 1 - (0.97)^2 = 0.0591
P(at least 1 jewel with carve) = 1 - P(not getting jewels with carve) = 1 - (0.98)^3 = 0.058808
If we consider the case that you actually got a 3rd capture reward:
P(at least 1 jewel with capture) = 1 - P(not getting jewels with capture) = 1 - (0.97)^3 = 0.087327
However, I do not know what is the chances of getting the 3rd capture reward so I didn't compare with this.
Hope this is clear to understand and sorry for the long comment. If there is anything wrong with my math/knowledge about capture feel free to discuss. Also thanks for the great video!

This is why it's important to go for the option with the maximum rolls assuming equal chances, odds are the same but you get more rolls in the time you have
As a side the actual math to figure out getting two is 3/100 x 3/100 which is 9/10,000 then 9 ÷ 10,000 = 0.0009, finally 0.0009 X 100 = 0.09, so you have a 0.09% chance of getting two.
So you see two different ways of calculating have resulted in either a 3% chance to get two or a 0.09% chance, and they both can't be right. That fuckery is why they have specific rules for this, if you want the odds of getting a drop you have to include what you're after in the calculations.
These videos are great, very helpful
Thank God.
I have used this strategy on 20 straight Bazel hunts. Still no Mantle.

love the video - but where is the link for armour porgression ?
pretty sure the capture reward percent is meant for every item you get. say you get 3 items from capture thatd be 3 different 3% chances for the rarest material. capture master would give more chances for extra items therefor giving more 3% chances because i highly doubt capcom would only make it a single chance per capture and not multiple chances whereas carving would have been made better in that way which is most likely not what they would want
All hail Josh, the master of easy farming
4:34 wait I thought you get 2 cap rewards (3 with cap.master) and thus get 2/3 chances of 3% and 3/4(carvemaster) chances on carving. That would of course screw with may calculation (1-(1-0.03)^1) instead of ^2 or 3. And if that is the case, is this the same for target-rew. (Only one times the 3% change)?
Hunting horn doot doot egg is a monster for breaking monster faces since all the sonic damage goes straight to the face
I was getting ready to start farming Risen Teostra after beating it the first time to get the mats for the armor. My second hunt i got 4 rise gems
I’m so used to World’s investigations and it hasn’t been quite clear on how I’m supposed to get more than 6 damn materials per hunt. All I can do is go on regular missions essentially at high rank and it’s just slow.
What's the most effective way to make a monster rideable? I haven't figured this out yet
Got the g rank diablos horn drop from crab first hunt was really excited.
Can we talk about josh rambling on about golden wb drop chances and getting 6 shards?
One I'm shiny Drop are the lowest chance to get them
On a quest not for a rathalos I picked up a random lunagaron mantle from the ground, I then continued hunting the rathalos I was there for and it dropped a rathalos mantle
Wheres the armor progression guide link that was promised.
I've decimated a serregios population in the desert just for a lens for the arm pieces
The amount of mantles of have is ridiculous lol got a good amount for how hard they are to come by
I'll try some of these.
Try trapping or just getting a group of people to farm I just joined a random discord to farm monsters
I picked up an Anjanath mantle from the single coincidental drop I got from accidentally wyvern ride attacking it before I slammed the almudron I was actually hunting into it. The drops are the same, it's just 1% is extremely slim odds
I played the complete master rank story with high rank armour cause i was too lazy to balance the stats on a new set XD
Anyone else find Supy a bit suspicious he seems to wander around the hub from where he can always watch the princess giving her gifts and his name would be spy without the "u" wandering feline spy.... hmmmm maybe I'm over thinking it but it's not like there's no hidden lore in this game at all. (although he could just be an assigned guard)
Don't you usually get 4 monster parts as reward from capture?
I have using everything you have said and almudron refuses to drop its mantel
I wish I was in master rank, tried to buy sunbreak, my switch allowed that, then when it tried to download it wouldn't work, cuz apparently my account isn't valid... And I can't even play rise whilst this is happening 😭😭😭
First Furious Rajang I killed = 3 Hearts, didn't really need any.
Needed a Seregios Lens = Took 19 captures.
Fucking desire sensor
I've been hitting the monster for 6 drops then launching it into the other monster and hitting that one for six in turn
I always get rares.....I have farmed 43 Master Crimson Glow Val for the dang wing break item
I've been trying for hours to get a Seregios Lens. It's hell.
It took me 16 hours STRAIGHT for a single fucking Rathalos Mantle. Thank god Malzeno didn't take me that long to get a Bloodstone lmao
I need large wyvern gem. I’m Mr 20 and HR132 but none of my monsters say “large wyvern gem” as reward
I've gotten mantles from drops, bless the gold bugs!
Maybe its just me but Aylia gives me Tifa vibes
There is a new monster in monster Hunter rise sunbreak
Ok
I WILL BE VERY PATIENT BUT WHEN WITH THE SECOND PRO AND NOOB COMING OUT BOSS?
But..but...I LIKE FINISHING THE MONSTERS !! 😭. I also get a mantle every other quest
Joined a late game got a mantle in less than 3 minutes
What are the chances I have good luck on my skills and capture master and both palicoes for gathering and still gotten a mantle from a Rathalos and only ruby for the past five days. I give up sincerely
The carve example is basically the gamblers fallacy the odds never improve its always 2 percent, 3 carves would 6 in 300 which is still 2 in 100. Capture is better.
Unless the part you need cant be got on capture
I manage to get about 4 anjanath mantles from a first hunt
So you're saying this is how we got bloodbath and soulseer?
This is why I never capture when in someone else’s quest- they may be going for a carve only item for all I know🤷♂️. It’s just rude dangit.
Speaking of rude, why do I feel like someone is gonna get banned on twitch for saying Lunagaron’s name too fast? Not being facetious either, I actually think that might be a problem for someone; ai and algorithms aren’t great at discerning one word from another
Time to make more armor and weapons.
I thought it was 3% per capture reward cuz u get more than just 1 reward
So far I only got a astolos and tigrex mantel both of witch were from carves
Here I am, 5 hours of mr harag farming, no BILE+ YET, but sure the mantles are easy
Please make another noob verse pro video
This method has helped with everything save for Nargacuga Mantles. Uhm pretty sure these are impossible.
Can someone help me here? I play on Monster Hunter language. I've always pronounced it lunaGAron, not luNAgaron. Do they pronounce it that way in the game in English? Or is this just a to-may-to/to-maa-to deal?
I for the life of me can't get a abyssal dragonsphire
When are you going to continue with your Pro&Noob vs Sunbreak series?
this is completely irrelevant, but WHY IS ESPINAS SO HARD!!!!!
Ive triple-carted to him 4 times (3 solo, 1 online)
That’s good he’s hard rise been easy for a long time
Espinas was just trying to enjoy his nap when some pesky hunter went and woke him up. Of course he is going to give you a hard time.
I FINALY beat him this morning and continued the story but MALZENO was easier than espinas (I was using the exact same equipment for both)
is it that rare tho, one time i got 3 of luna mantle in one match, 1 drop, 2 quest reward.
and any other monster mantle acquired between 3~5 hunt 😄
The 20% drop chance for the lunagaron bluecore is an absolute lie
Desire radar took a vacation during base Rise but is back and going strong in Sunbreak
Nothing super usual here for a vet, but quite a useful guide for a newbie.
Im doing the entire thing co-op with a friend. We havn't gotten very far yet. Were still mr1 with 2 key quests left before we unlock the urgent quest (I know there an urgent half way through mr1 aswell. We did that)
if i see another gore mantle i am gonna pull my hair out!
Basarios pallium has defeated me..................☠
How to get large elder dragon bones?
I got a gore magala mantle from a drop
Farm the like button. So did anyone else understand that as subscribe then unsubscribe

That'll be coming up!
