When Sam came, I noticed right away that he was a rook with a veteran soul. He was surrounded by real men,really driven thirsty pros. He was so steady,he was an excellent closer. At the end of games when it was all on the line the coach let him finish. I watched him grow in one season in a league which normally takes three years to learn to play his position.

The 93-95 Rockets were my very favorite years following a team. I remember using a dot matrix printer to print out the game stats using dialup internet. Clutch Rockets....Some of the Best Days Watching sports! Hakeem is my fav athlete of all time!

Cassell was like an all-star caliber as a 24-year old rookie - secret weapon for a loaded 95' team that included a 3rd option in Horry that achieved higher gamescore in those Finals than any of Pippen's Finals

Sam was a Helluva player, a clutch player who showed up in the biggest moments. He’s been coming up through the coaching ranks the right way, earning it! Someone should’ve given him a chance many, many years ago. Look at his resume, he knows basketball. He should be a division 1 coach right now. Whoever takes a chance on him is going to look like a genius. As far as his bball acumen, I’d go as far as to say any bottom 5 team would be better off giving him a shot than their current coach when you factor in all variables. Don’t just give him a bottom feeder, see what he could do with a more veteran team; that is where he would at his best!

Rockets went from the very poor defense of the Suns to the brutal defense of the Knicks. The basketball was completely different from one series to the other but the Rockets got it done. Hakeem was the MVP but Max was the catalyst, the fire and the heart. My all time favorite NBA championship team. Still got my Rockets #11 Max jersey. Good to see Max (and Sam) aging so well.
Nba basketball was so-GOOD back then,I wouldn't miss a game !!! The Rockets playoff run and champion ships were-GOLD.

Fuck man, I love Sam. I remember the second year yáll won, I was coming out of one of the Greenway buildings when Sam was coming in. I had to hold the door open for him cause he had that pulled muscle right before going up to Utah. I'm only 5'7'' and I thought Sam was little. Shit, Sam way fuckin big! So cool to see these vids now man.... Those were good years in Houston.
