Hakeem Olajuwon Highlights, Hakeem Olajuwon Footwork,
NBA, Hakeem Olajuwon Stories, Hakeem Olajuwon Shaq, NBA finals 1995,
90s NBA, NBA Legends on Hakeem Olajuwon
He still has had the greatest season for an individual player the league has ever seen. Winning league MVP, DPOY, Finals MVP still hasn't been done.
Also led his team in the playoffs in scoring, rebounding, blocks, assists and steals (LBJ did that once), also won the title without a current all star or future hall of famer on his team - never been done before or since
@@JimiMercFinals MVP too in the same year, Jordan didn't do that
Delusional. Jordan literally has like _six_ seasons that were better than anything Olajuwon ever put up.
@@JimiMercdo you have a learning disability?
@@mj23goat3 Dude, he said “THE GREATEST SEASON”; meaning ONE, as in the singular tense. So, not “Delusional.” But for that matter, MJ is THE ONE SINGULAR GOAT.
My son has NBA2K24 and he likes to put together superteams with Shaq and LeBron. I get Hakeem on my team and whoop him every time lol
Hahahahaha, me too! First time we played like that, and I chose Hakeem, he asked “who’s that?”… I said “you’re fixin’ to find out”. And find out he did 🤣. All I heard the entire time was “that guy’s ridiculous “ and “this isn’t fair!” LOLzzzzz
As u should I got dream on myteam he is a beast on the game and I was to see dream start his career only center to school Shaq
That's awesome
My cousin picked the Rockets too different results Kobe had 55 on him
He taught Kobe his foot work game.
Hakeem olajuwon footwork was so smooth and unstoppable
He gave people that "crazy work" 😂
I’m 52 year old nba fan and I still remember the dream -he was one of the best I ever seen …. Amazing …
Olajuwon was my favorite player ever. He was fast and quick... and that foot work... Simply incredible for an under 7ft Center.
How tall is he then..he's not 6"10
Hmm, funny cause hakeem is 7'0🤔🤦♂️🤣, David Robertson 7'1
He was 7 foot
He was closer to 6'11 than 7 ft..
He has said it himself that he never measured up to 7ft even..
Olajuwon is the greatest center of all time!
AGREED.The-DREAM-gave it to you on both ends of the court unlike Shaq ( who out played Shaq-GREATLY-in their finals match-up ) and people forget DREAm was mostly a defensive player in college, who also started to develop a nice turn around jumper in the post. But,once in the nba he became an offensive juggernaut. And I do remember DREAM fighting a lot in the nba, even more than Barkley. LOL.
Yes he is and my favorite player of all time
@@TraceyBean-ss2ce FOR SURE DERANGED XCEPT HE NEVER LED NBA IN SCORING OR REBOUND AND WILT LED 12X AND 7 TIMES IN PPG.
On Period 🥶
@@PIP...33with that said he leads the league in most quadruple doubles. And with one rebound here and a block there or if a couple of guys would have hit wide open shots on his assists, it wouldn't even be close.
Everyone has a greatest lineup possible, and Hakeem is at center on mine. The man turned basketball into poetry, everything he did was as artistic as it was flawless.
Agreed
but you can move hakeem to the 4 to put kareem at the 5
People almost never mention how awesome he was defensively...steals, blocks and rebounding
Plus, his footwork reminds you of a 2 guard and skill of a point.
I heard that his defensive prime, and his offensive prime actually didn’t even line up (but I’m not positive that that’s true). Supposedly his offensive prime was later, and although his defense was still freaking incredible when he was in his offensive prime, it was a little better a few years prior. Feel free to bite my head off because I could be wrong, it’s just what I’ve heard.
Yes we do
@JoeBuck-yea u are wrong they were lined up since he was in college uc3bl
@@anthonytaylor7928 gotcha. I’m no expert at his progression, my ugly ass just remembers hearing that before.
The dream shake is one of the greatest moves ever
Hakeem was my number 1 big all time and, easily, still is.
FOR SURE DERANGED EXCEPT WILT HAVE 20X MORE RECORDS THAN OLAJUWON AND BETTER IN ALL 5 STATS
Hakeem is the best center ever
Agreed!
i love him but no
@rook3065 who ever you think is better would more than likely disagree with you
@@BigdaddyC4wilt wouldn’t, and he was the best ever, hakeem is #2
@@DalonCole you can't compare Wilt to Hakeem. If Wilt was working with the mediocre players that olajuwon set records and broke records as well as the two championships he won. Not to mention the Steals and blocks. Quadruple doubles within the same season. With no team to back him up. Wilt played with nothing but all stars Hall of famers all-time greats. Imagine if Hakeem had what wilt had to work with.. yes Hakeem was better than wilt. Not to mention hakeem's competition was beyond what wilt faced 💯💯
He had THE BEST footwork I’ve ever seen in a big man. Phenomenal.
He is the greatest big of all time. 👊🏼👍🏼
Kareem is the greatest big of all time due to his sustained prime, from age 18 to 40. Hakeem didn't reach his peak until the early 90s, and started to slow down by 1996. But he's still ahead of Shaq and Timmy, #10 on my GOAT list, and one of my all-time favorite players.
I refuse to fault anyone for having Kareem as their best but try to have a better argument. Hakeem played 18 seasons to Kareem's 20. Hakeem was a double-doublr machine from his rookie year for about 13 of his seasons. Faulting him for health is absurd. Hakeem didn't have one if the greatest players of all time, top 5, as his partner for half his career. Hakeem was a better defender, especially rim. Shot a better percentage & Kareem's production started to fall around the same amount of years as Hakeem's while being on a loaded Lakers while Hakeem had to carry Houston alone more than a decade of his 18.
Kareem < Wilt
@@fletchbundyuhh, and Dream is STILL the all-time blocks leader, which he took from Kareem with two less years on the court; and Dream will probably always will be the blocks leader if the shit ball they play these days is how it’s going to be.
Greatest Bigs: Kareem, Shaq, Wilt, Hakeem, Bill Russell
Olajuwon imo is the best center of all time. Not by career achievements but skill. He could score, play defense, get up the court. And his moves were incredible in the post and midrange. His quickness was insane. I'll take Olajuwon at center over anyone, ever.
Can you imagine how many titles Olajuwon would’ve won if he had multiple All-Star and HOF teammates for most of his career?
Rockets did him dirty most of his career
So true!
Hakeem with one HOF teammate is beating the 72-10 Bulls.
I was born in 1990 so I never got to see him play, but I've done my research on him, and this may or may not make sense, but he's my favorite player of all time that I never got to see play
Should not be controversial. Hakeem is very arguably the GOAT C.
@@BootsAreYellow why?
This is the best Center that’s play in the NBA,from strong rebounder, block shot, pivot in the middle and turn around with fake to fade away jumpshoot ,Famous footstep, take you in one on one drives that’s Hakeem the Dream!
Dream was the best center I ever seen play basketball 🏀
FOR SURE DERANGED EXCEPT WILT HAVE 20X MORE RECORDS THAN OLAJUWON AND BETTER IN ALL 5 STATS
Easily one of the top 3 centers to ever play the game! Love to the DREAM!!
I like him more than any other center
Not only was he extremely driven and competitive, but creative and EXTREMELY SKILLED. FOOTWORK FOOTWORK FOOTWORK!!! Also an AMAZING and HUMBLE human being. That is the Dream!! The most skilled big man of all time.
If MJ has Hakeem in his all time starting 5 then that’s good enough for me!
IF JORDAN BET ON HIS OWN DAD THEN U MUST DO TOO. PUT SOME FLOWERS ON GRAVE
JORDAN BET ON HIS OWN DAD. U JUST PROVED U R DERANGED
IF JORDAN FAIL 16 YEARS IN HORNETS U STILL WILL SAY ADAM MORRISON IS BEST PICK ON DRAFT. COMMON FOR JORDAN FANS. U HAVE ZERO KNOWLEDGE
At his peak, he may be the best center that’s ever lived!
Absolutely
It's was scary. Good thing for the league he didn't actually get a team until he started the slow down. From 87-92...a straight dawggggg
My dads favorite he ain’t here no more but he would say thank you
Talking about the C position, he was the real deal. Even the small guys copied his move,to tell you how good he was. I always put him in my top 5 of all time
Having never played organized basketball, I can't speak to how good he was. I can say he was exciting to watch.
best big man ever in my book met him twice and was always kind also
I loved watching Hakeem play.
iStill think he's very underrated.
I love it that you were down for dream, this is the only channel that ever puts out anything for Hakeem in a special way, thank you for your hard work
I have Hakeem Olajuwon #4 on my all-time list! That's about all...
Nope that's number one he's number one name a better player at his position
@@timeless3970 1. Michael Jordan 2. Kobe Bryant 3. Larry Bird 4. Hakeem Olajuwon 5. LeSuperteam James. That's about all...
I think David Robinson would’ve had more rings if Dream hadn’t been in his prime in the mid 90s. Dream was at least top 3 all time of centers.
2 peak years, and ppl think hakeem has been playing like this all his career...b4 those 2 peak year seasons, hakeem had a losing record to drob...hence i dont think drob wouldve won a ring in the 90s btw, them drob spurs peak in the RS but falter in the playoffs, just a 1 man team surrounded by scrubs
@tuannguyen-vl9hu yup Spurs were Admiral, 2x All Star Sean Elliott n a PG with a distinctive voice in Avery Johnson ( great leader but clearly outmatched physically). Spurs never had money, never attracted any FAs, they were considered soft. Admiral put em on the map; Duncan made em a championship franchise.
I raeally wanna see the prime Arvydas Sabonis vs The Dream. Probably One of the most interesting match up.
#3 all time. My favorite big man.
The dream is by far the best centre of all time.
FOR SURE DERANGED EXCEPT WILT HAVE 20X MORE RECORDS THAN OLAJUWON AND BETTER IN ALL 5 STATS
I agree with you, same as I normally do! Hakeem is #1 all time for me. Then Wilt and Bill! I would love to see Wilt vs Kareem!
Wilt and Kareem played against one another. Wilt is one of the few people to block his skyhook multiple times in the same game, and Wilt was way past his prime at the time.
i'm with you sean, i consider hakeem to be the best all-around center i've ever seen. and i'm old enough to have watched virtually all the greats (i never did get to see bill russell live though, let alone mikan). wilt, kareem, willis, bellamy, lanier, cowens, unseld, walton, moses, gilmore, robinson, ewing, shaq, duncan, embiid, jokic...
the dream was just.... the best.
👏🏾
If I remember correctly, Hakeem played soccer before playing basketball, accounting in part for his tremendous endurance and footwork.
Hakeem was Giannis with skills.
Good observation. NO center has EVER played like him.
How was that when Gianni's probably wasn't even born
#2 on my all time list.
He's in my top 10.
Id love to see the 9 players you put ahead of him., that you would draft if possible ahead of him. Houston picked him over the arguably greatest player of all time and nobody bats an eye.
It's very hard to argue who is the "greatest" big of all time due to so many factors, but I think it's always been pretty easy to declare Dream the most skilled big man of all time. Kareem is right there with him, but Dream's footwork was just something no center could replicate.
You have that backwards.
Wilt Chamberlain is easily the best ever.
Most skilled?
How do you judge skilled?
I have stats you have your opinion.
And one thing to consider I don't think anyone who didn't play basketball until 17 i believe, is more skilled than other professionals playing it their whole lives.
He is my favorite center of all time but I don't think of him passing the ball or hitting an outside jumper when I picture him playing.
Do you?
Then how can he be the most skilled?
Moses was playing professionally when he was 17 and he was the man who taught Akeem how to play the low post.
He must have had some skills.
You could easily make the argument that Arvidas Sabonis had more skill.
He was old when he showed up and he was the best passing big man in the NBA.
Still had a nice jumper too.
@user-xn3sz3pl9n
Well if you look at Hakeem's skillset
Midrange jumper
Step Back jumper
Fadeaway jumper
Hook shot
Spin moves
Crossover
Handles
Footwork
Dream Shake with counters
Good Freethrow shooter
Decent at Assists
Elite Shot Blocker
Rebounder
Only center in top 10 Ever at Steals
Post Defense
Can guard Perimeter players in spurts and blocked 3 point shots
Arguably one of the greatest two way players ever
Showed the ability to hit the 3 ( even if he didn't use it much)
His skill on both sides of the ball will place him in the conversation as most skilled Center Ever....even if your opinion is different

Little over 7. 1
They didn't record blocks at the time.
If uou want to be amazed look up the rest of the records .
Wilt , Ruth , Gretzky and Brady are on the MT. Rushmore of singular dominance.
Olajuwan is my favorite big man who ever played and I started watching him at Houston znd watched in horror when Wotherspoon had the put back in the NCAA final game with Akeem standing rooted to the floor.
He was awesome to watch and a fantastic player.
Go and read the record book you'll change your mind BEFORE you finish his section of the dann thing.
I'm sorry dude Wilt Chamberlain was that dominant and no one even comes close, second place can't even see him.
Yep hakeem ....the great forgotten ..
I would pick him at center before anyone else ...one of theeee most under talked about players of all time ...
I’m gonna tell you I live in Houston and I watched Elijah Juan for his whole career here in Houston and I may be a little bit biased, but this guy is definitely one of the greatest NBA centers of all time and he’s definitely in the top five or three centers ever. He just wasn’t a big boat, big mouth or anything like that a very humble person very soft-spoken.
Olajuwon, without the talent surrounding him as other NBA Champions was that dude. Loved and followed him since college. He doesn’t get the recognition he deserves
Definitely my favorite center, most skilled center of all time 👍 I keep thinking what would’ve been if Chicago Bulls with MJ, Pippen and Rodman had Hakeem 🤔
It was such a joy to watch him play throughout his career.
He really did it all. There was no one can guard him offensively and he owned the block on the defense end.
He is truly the greatest center of all time.
He was graceful, great footwork because of soccer. He did not move like a 7 foot tall guy
My dream is to pray along side my brother Hakeem at least once. He meant a lot to fellow Muslim Basketball fans and alongside Khabib is my favourite athlete of all time!
Olajuwon, top 10 centers of all-time
When I was in college I had the pleasure of watching a Rockets practice in our gym. It was amazing to see Alajuwon on defense vs. offense. He had the offense figured out, but every defense set he was slow as molasses and listened to the coaches, but come game time, he had listened and figured it out.
Your opinion is correct ❤, he was amazing to watch
Had the pleasure to watch Hakeem the Dream growing up as a Houston native in the 80s and 90s. People forget that when he converted to Islam, he would fast during the day throughout the month of Ramadan. No food or drink of any kind during day games and he would still dominate.
Hakeem my favorite center ever, and Bill Russell and Nikola Jokic are right behind him as my favorites!
I pick the dream over anyone anytime, but I’m from Houston and lived those beautiful years when he was with the rockets
I find it easier to assign players to tiers rather than rank them individually. Hakeem is in the top tier w Russell, Shaq, Wilt, and Kareem. Jockic will be in that tier soon if he is not already
Hakeem Olajuwon was good enough that even if you only got him on one side of the ball he would help your team. Just his offense or just his defense is enough to be a rotation player on a playoff team.
You got to love the dream
I completely agree with you. What stands out to me even more is that today's players still reach out to him for help with their footwork.
What’s so cool about Hakeem is that they say that he had very low efficacy fluctuations between opposing teams (like how certain players did great or lousy against different teams/defenders). The reason given is that for him “Very difficult shots” were typical shots for him lol. So it makes sense, as a defender your goal is to force people into “Bad shots”, so if Hakeem’s actual bread & butter shots WERE “Bad shots” already then that would explain the great consistency regardless of who was defending him. I suppose Steph would be like that as well.
He ends my top10 list and is number 4 center of all time
I agree Hakeem is always my favorite center & player of all time
My mom starting calling Hakeem the "rubber band man" because of how he moved. 😂
Magic and Hakeem wouldve been crazy sickening for opponents😵💫
He payed for it with his knees
Just like any other basketball player. What's your point, captain Obvious?
I think the name {The Dream}says it all
I have an autographed Hakeem jersey up on my wall , with my cards from the 90's of hakeem surrounding the jersey in a frame. I look at it sometimes and think of all the crazy games I watched him play and smile at the little peice of history I have of the greatest center to ever do it.
He use to be my favorite player
The most skilled center of all time by a landslide. 3rd greatest of his position, only behind Kareem and Wilt.
🙄
Hakeem is the reason i watch nba sports 🚀
Moses worked with Akeem when Akeem was at University of Houston and very much helped him became the player he would become.
Finally hearing from somebody who KNOWS what Moses did for Hakeem! I met Akeem 2 days after he got here! ALWAYS DRIVEN! And Moses made him TOUGH! And even with all that Moses did to "make the man" .. Akeem rather the employ the same "street tactics", learned respectfully to smartly out-maneuver! They couldn't tussle at the Summit nor at Hopheinz Pavillion. They had to take that "blood on the floor" kind of scrap to Fonde'! By the time he got to the NBA, this I can tell you, Akeem had seen some of everything, was TOUGH, and was READY! So many stories to tell...
@@hiddengospel That's awesome. I don't have direct experience with it, but I'm fully aware of the teaching / playing / mentoring that Moses gave to Akeem. Akeem was super raw and unpolished when he got to UH. No doubt his effort + Moses teachings helped catapult him upward. Side curiosity - for some reason Hakeem charges a boat load of cash for players to train with him. I don't get that. I doubt Moses charged Akeem anything..
I agree, poetry in motion.
Olauwon is definitely in my Mt. Rushmore of centers. Wilt, Kareem, Hakeem, Malone, SHAQUILLE.
I thought I guarded him pretty well. - David Robinson
Hands down, he is the best center to ever play basketball, bar none!!!
I remember watching Hakeem Olajuwon as a kid and teenager and I was so amazed at how great Hakeem and dominant he was on both sides of the court. Hakeeem is the second best center I have ever seen (after Kareem Abdul Jabbar). Hakeem is 7ft center version of what these youngsters praise Kyrie Irving over, but also being the best defensive player of his era and one of the best defensive players of all time.
Olajuwon is "The Dream" come true!❤
I agree he is the greatest center and who gave him that nickname cause they were way off that man wasn't a Dream he was a Nightmare to guard
Still underrated and in some cases disrespected (thinking of people clowning Gianis taking lessons from Dream) and my favorite big other than Kareem.
Iirc MJ said he was one of the only ones he hated to face and they didn't even play the same position and he was MJ's first pick in a dream lineup, that says it all.
Folks can argue all they want, but I got Dream top 10.
All of these dudes comments and u say hes disrespected and underrated dumb comment
In my opinion he was The Dream and MJ. Was the two most dominant players of the era ❤❤❤
Akeem and Hakeem (is) my favorite player of all time. His game would dominate in any era but he would completely destroy this current era of hoops.
olajuwon was even better defensively than offensively. probably the only person who could legitemately play 5 on 1 . see his early rockets games-- he did that at nba level
Hakeem was a beast, his game during his prime was unmatched, Shaq, Robinson, Ewing couldn’t guard him and the all forever what if Jordan hasn’t retired after the first 3 peat …. Would MJ have been handed his 1st and 2nd finals loss
100% agree…the best Big to lace um up!
i’ve always appreciated this channel but this became an S tier basketball channel once you dropped your recent lebron james video pointing out how he clearly has no case for GOAT or even #2. your channel is making way for the underrated GOATs who deserve it like Bird and Hakeem
I agree with you 110%!
My favorite player ever. So dominant.
Hakeem was a center that played like a power forward, I’m from Houston I know I watched him play at UH part of the PHI SLAMMA JAMMA.
And... he started playing basketball when he was 15 years old. If he had had a better team, 90s would have seen an amazing rivalry between rockets vs bulls.
My favorite big of all time! I would say most skilled and its not even close!
You are 100% Correct, Hakeem is the best Center to Ever play NBA basketball. Wilt was really good because of his bank shot, Hakeem could go to the bank just as well. Shaq was good because he could Dunk. Hakeem could dunk just as well. Hakeem was never Influenced by popular culture, hence his 34 dollar sneakers (his jersey number). .so he played like the Dream. . However, Had he seen something or had been told something that he was not good at, he would have perfected that too. In his own words, he was UNBEATABLE.
David Robinson still probably sees Hakeem in his nightmares.
Greatest team ever: Magic, Bird, Jordan goat, Pippen and Hakeem the Dream!!! I promise you nobody can beat that team. 🏀 🏀🏀🏀🏀
THE ANSWER,KOBE, PISTOL PETE, LEBRON AND TIM DUNCAN!!!
I loved the way he took revenge o. DAVID Robinson when he didn't get the mvp. He showed all why he deserved it. He wore David Robinson out. He was one of the top big men in the nba
Who is best Defensive Center of all time? Hakeem, leads block shots all time, no one is even close. He is top 10 in steals!!. Who was the best offensive center of all time? Hakeem didnt have all time scoring, but he is definitely top 5. People dont include Hakeem in both categories, everyone thinks Mutombo leads block shots, he is not even close to Hakeem!! In an era where he was triple teamed and still scored 40 points, Hakeem killed it in the post. This is why he is the best, he is both the best at Defense and no one, I mean no one could stop Hakeem in his prime and best in Offense. He was too fast. Props to the African, he was a beast and should be the best of all time, his numbers dont lie.
Houston Born and Raised! Life long Rockets fan! Clutch city baby!! Watched every second of the 94 and 95 finals
