    Hi! Thanks for the trick. But I use to play with the suboctaver effect on XR18 & X32 to get some downpitched harmonics on 40-50Hz. I think it is easier because it automatically match the kick drum tuning without any configuration. Maybe I should try the oscillator next time to see if I'll love it as much as the suboctaver. 😁

      Oscillator can be used to add or replace the low end of the kick, if you have a bad drummer, that can save you.

      many ways to get more of fundamental :) Even just using a yamaha subKick mic. Or triggering samples with a very fast/short gate. It's great to have the keyed oscillator trick handy, especially for sections of songs that might benefit from a variance of the sub enhancement from whatever you're using on the other 90% of a band's songs. You know, a halftime breakdown or something.

    Nice job I love this. I've learnt a new technique today. But is it possible with xr18 beringer digital console?

    I’m assuming on an M32/X32 you would have to use one of the mix buses? As the oscillator is not assignable to individual channels.

    • @GuillaumeLortie
      @GuillaumeLortie  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly 👍🏻
      You can sidechain a bus Gate form a channel

    Thanks for the great video sir I will personally go and try it out, I have another question unrelated to this, what is the best way to use reverb on this console? I personally put it on a bus then SOF channels to that bus but av found that when I now put those vocals output to another bus(our stream bus) the result isn't great and they make the drums sound very far away... Please help

    • @GuillaumeLortie
      @GuillaumeLortie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joshu
      I use post fader bus send. I send those bus to my Main and use the SOF to send into the reverb.

      Had a similar challenge Joshu. I have a effects bus, then I send my vocal channels to that effect bus then send that bus to the mains. This worked very well for the house but I also found similar issue with the effects not going to my stream. What I now do is that I send the FX bus to my stream bus (bus to bus sends) which is something I learnt from @Guillaume and that seems to work just now. It feels fleamsy but works and I am honestly thinking of a better way to do it; challenge is I really need to use a separate bus for my stream

    Thanks for sharing. 2 questions, what is the source for 50 Hz audio? Can I do it on soundcraft Si performer 3?

    • @GuillaumeLortie
      @GuillaumeLortie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi 👋
      the signal is coming form the console Oscillator / tone generators
      I just check and the SI Performer 3 has a built in Oscillator/ Pink noise generator.
      if you can, assign the signal to a channel and treat it like if it was a microphone, if you can only send it into a bus, send your bus to the Main out.
      also, you can use a external source, like a phone with a signal generator app.
      hope it helps.

    I want a clicky kick, can i use the oscillator in a higher frequency for that??

    • @GuillaumeLortie
      @GuillaumeLortie  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To do that, you need to change it for a White Noise and use a Low Cut and High Cut
      Good luck !

    • @GuillaumeLortie
      @GuillaumeLortie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Juan 👋
      Yes it can be used, look at your Tom or Floor, the RTA will display the fondamental frequency of that dum and divide that by 2 ( if you Tom natural low frequency is 160hz ) Generate a Tone at 80.
      It will beef it up by a lot !
