so you are saying just adding borax to washer drum without dissolving in boiling water will not harden. the same with toilet, you can clean in cold water without dissolving first in boiling water. some people have said borax hardens making it hard to clean toilets.
I have not had a problem with Borax hardening in cold water in my home. I add it to a cold water laundry load without dissolving it first, and it works fine. I wonder if it depends on what is in the water where you live? I'/ll research this further and get back to you. Thanks for bringing this up, and thanks for watching!
