We Shutdown a Scam Call Centre in India AGAIN!

- Jim Browning and I join forces again to shut down another scam call centre in India. But it didn't go according to plan. While filming undercover, the call centre boss caught me, and I had to make an escape. What happened next was surprising, too; the Delhi Police Cyber Crime Unit actually raided the call centre! All the action is captured in this incredible vlog.

He's the only one who ACTUALLY does something. Dude will legitimately hack into their networks and shut them down. Or send them viruses to their software.

and the law will decide to do none of it until countries its affected, mainly US and EN. They need to actually raise tariffs or ban trade or punish them in some way in the world market where they're vulnerable, Then India will care.. But it needs to be more than forcing awareness. it needs to be results based ie. trade will cease until at least 30% of volume is down or something.
In a fucked up way all this brings more money into the our economy, at the expense of people's savings and India's reputation. Unfortunately, I don't see our government doing anything to fix this soon.

You are absolutely correct about the loss of trust of legitimate call centers that have people from India and obvious Indian accents. I try to remind myself that I called and used the number from the phone application, did not get the call from them and that it will be fine. But finding out they do legit work on the side scares me. It has me wonder if they steal information for customers of the legit work for their scam work.

I'm an NRI and my friends used to joke around about me not having the Amazon tech support accent since I have a natural American accent. It's among friends, so it was just a joke and I never took it in a negative light as they don't harass me or anything. But it does shed light on how these scammers are ruining our image on the global level. I hope serious actions are taken against this by the authorities.

Tell them to foff. If they do this thing again, give them a warning. I can understand that seeing it as a negative thing can make you feel like you'll never be able to survive but some things aren't meant to joke around. Finding one honest law official is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Corruption is pandemic and genetically ingrained in the majority. to be direct, there never is and never will be any hope to rid India of corrupt people because it is part and parcel of every aspect of society.

I’m an Indian who works in tech in North America, and I often have to deal with prejudice because of my Indian accent. It’s sad to see how these scammers are spoiling it for all of us who ACTUALLY work in tech.

We need police reforms as soon as possible and need to get a lot more police officers. Police are busy only on homicide crimes.

@@maffiaw I do not think so. Police to people ratio in India is severely low specially for cities like Delhi and its capital region. In fact, the per capita crime is far less than most nations. But even then police : people ratio must be increased and a lot of reforms need to be done.

Majority of these policemen have never even touched a PC, they will not understand what a scam means ! The need to recruit people with I.T background and setup a unit in the police only to deal with cyber traffic and scams.
This is one side of the medal, because to create a case, you need to make preparations for it, the other side is that until the police won't have incentives to stop these kind of crimes, they won't do much about them. Clearly English speaking countries who are badly affected by scam cyber crimes, must actively push and work with Indian police in order to stop scammers. As Karl said, the good Indian people suffer the most, because they are seen badly now the scam thing is emerging as a plague in US, UK. So it's a good thing to stop this crime by Indian cyber police, in a way that the reputation of India and Indians will not be questioned anymore.

True, but wasn't this raid done by the Cyber Crime police? The whole thing seems like a farce. Police obviously aren't that serious, they should do some surveillance and make sure the call centre is in operation when they raid. Similarly they should have warrants to seize equipment for forensic analysis.
There are dedicated units within each police force that deal with cyber crimes. There are also forensic labs and people from IT background who work there. Talking of Delhi, in Dwarka we have state of the art cyber forensic lab called CyPad.
But yes, given the volume of cyber crimes we are still leagues behind in terms of man power and resources to actively combat these cases. Serious improvements are needed.
Yes, but all they need to do is just tell the police these scammers are earning in crores by scamming. 100% definitely police will involve themselves if no politician is involved and will try to get some at least.

And things like under-the-tabe bribes and thank-you kickbacks are part of the accepted roles. Not everyone, but enough. Favors for friends, employment in city hall, appointing judges. Attend city hall meanings and they want to know why you are there. Speak up and now you are threatening their lifestyle. Dig deep. Local? Lower house assessments. One person can make a difference. A home owners association is a good group to consider. It's your tax dollars

It was definitely a tip off. My friend worked with a Uk India police partnership raiding brothels in India that were filled with children. The cops were always tipping off the brothel owners. Whenever children were rescued (they were mainly street children who were orphans) and put into what was supposed to be secure accommodation then those places simply became child brothels. The operation had to cease due to corruption.

I highly doubt if the police investigation will get very far. They have probably already been taken care of and if the case did ever come to court there will hardly be any evidence left to get a conviction. That may very well be a corrupt police officer. The owner went away from CCTV view to bribe him in exchange for tip that a raid is going to happen.

If there was a raid pending you shouldn't have done anything to draw more attention to them. It sounds like you could've inadvertently tipped them off but either way it's a good outcome so thanks for your hard work!
I applaud the amount of work put into this. It's just so disheartening seeing the police drag their feet. I hope that your identifying the scummers at work causes them to track down each and every one at their homes and arrest them. They have the video footage as proof. Hopefully, the arrests will lead to jail time, fines and reimbursement.
I also hope that sharing all this evidence with FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and FCC can get the accounts shut down and fined on this side.

I work daily with many people in India and from India. Everyone of them when they hear scammer stuff are not happy it goes on and they all agree that it should be stopped ASAP.

For me on scammers calls, I just don't answer phone numbers I don't recognize. Scammers don't leave a message. I tell my friends/family to do the same, ignore those unknown numbers.

@@KarlRock Unless you've lived in Asia, its hard to comprehend the level of corruption that exists. At worst, they had to spend more money on "protection" this month. There will be no trial and certainly no prison. I'm currently living in Thailand, which is pretty honest compared to India. If you get stopped for a DUI, just give the cop a 2000 baht bribe. He'll even give you a receipt, so if you get stopped again on the way home they will let you go.
