I slept in today and got up ready to go. Finished 4 video projects this morning. Ready to go up to Ryan's tomorrow. Saturday was a bust due to icy roads. 38 F. today and the roads are melting in the sun. 😁😎
Good information on how to use the different types of chisels. I love using my hand grinder to fix ruined bevels on chisels and hand planes. Because they run slower than an electric grinding wheel, with care, the temper of the steel remains unchanged. I always enjoy your videos.
You did a good job with that hand grinding wheel. Now you have to put it in storage. The big advantage is you don’t burn the edge this way of doing......CHEERS
The grinder is fun to use. It takes me back to being 7 years old and visiting Mr. McGinnis with my Dad. He had a grinder like that mounted on his workbench. 😁😎👴
I may have to dig out my hand crank, cause the last time I used the power grinder, she blew some sparks! It may just be the wiring (haven't had it apart yet to look). Only real problem (apart from it needing the stone resurfaced (and perhaps even replaced)) is the hand grinder doesn't have any sort of table. Or I could dig out Dad's old home-built that should be a scary sight for anyone who sees it. It doesn't scare me (even though I know enough now that it should) because it looks pretty much the same as it did when I was so young it were the only grinder I'd ever seen!
Just try and have one with a wheel guard. Broken wheels are killers. The tool rest (table) on this hand grinder is a 1" wide, 5" long, 1/8" thick strip of steel with a 90 deg. bend and a hole drilled in it to match one of the gear case bolts. 😁😎
I think I've got one, a 5/8ths or so. Never used it when I had a chainsaw or such around. Probably never used it at all. i'm not really a chisel type person. I need more violence in my life. No sharpener yet either. The HBM is sporting a wire wheel at present. I'm just going to get a stand for the polisher and can the old volleyball net holder. Just too much. Happy attic and Grandboys day and GBWYall!
@@OldSneelock Perzactly! If I was dabbling with other stuff I'd have a tool collection that'd differ accordingly. We use what we have and get what we need.
There's nothing like using old hand tools ! There's a simple ingenuity thing going on with that wheel! Great job!
With a little practice and the knowledge of how it is supposed to work the job is remarkably easy. 😁😎
@@OldSneelock it's very enjoyable to see!
Great information! Hope y'all have a wonderful day! We are always praying for Lydia 🙏🙏🙏

If things keep up the way they are we will be needing these skills again shortly as we will return to the dark ages! =D
Already there. Lights off at 8:00 when the Sun goes down. Except in DC. The parties run all night. Both of them.
How's she goin'? Sharpening tools is an art and I'm no artist!! That a nice little wheel and does nice job on the tools. Take care!!!
The thing I like is that the tool does the work. Once you understand how it is supposed to turn out it is just like running an apple peeler. 😁😎

I keep my thumb on the chisel to let me know if it is getting too hot. It never does with the hand crank grinder.
