    Living in Midwest and only off roading in Utah I can't imagine it getting better then that! So much space, great views, and what feels like no rules!! I wish it didn't take me 20hr drive to get there... but living in a place like Southern California, they spend that much time stuck in traffic.. maybe a horse a peace I guess

    West coast especially PNW ( Pacific Northwest) is hands the best places to wheel in mud, clay, sand and snow

      You guys need to get out more....Like to Moab, or Ouray, or Red Rock, Painted Desert, etc...Colorado is probably the best state overall...Mountains, streams, snow, rain, rocks, passages that rank a 9 on the butt pucker scale, etc...And no, I don't live there, but you don't have to in order to see the obvious that SO many already know. Plus, you're then a handful of hours drive from Moab, which is Jeep nirvana...

      Kid Goku Just moved out here to Carson City. Any trail recommendations? I've already hit Kings Canyon, Hunter Lake, and Brunswick Canyon road. Tried Ash Canyon and Genoa, but they were closed (hopefully just for winter).

    • @kidgokuxl
      @kidgokuxl 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      AD1: I'm just north of Reno what do you like? Off Pyramid hwy heading north towards Pyramid Lake there are lots of trails throughout the BLM area. We have a fossil lake, Moonrock OTH rock climbing and trails area. West side in Verdi you have Crystal Peak OTH trails. Rubicon on the west side of Tahoe too. We did a few ghost town trails last year east of Fernley towards Winnamuca.
      Too many to list. I've never done it all since moving here 15 yrs ago. Every road in Nevada turns to dirt. A friend showed me how you could drive to Oregon all on back roads. Don't know if I'll do that one soon.

    • @Shakshuka69
      @Shakshuka69 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Oregon all on backroads thing is what I'm looking for! Haha. I really want to get into some overlanding. I only got a JKU so I could sleep in it. Otherwise, I just enjoy mild technical stuff, nothing I need 37s for. And nice views of course.

    • @kidgokuxl
      @kidgokuxl 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      AD1 Looking for something like trees mountain trails little snow right now, try Crystal Peak OTH area in Verdi just west of Reno. We've been up there many times to dig quartz crystals and trail ride. Easy going trip.

    I’m from the Pacific Northwest originally and depending on what trail your wheeling you could have the more sandy or the more muddy. So you can’t just go to one trail on each side of the country and say all west coast are all the same and all east coast are the same. I’ve wheeled a bit on a few different trails in different states found what I prefer then set my jeep to best work for me on my preference.

  • @markfelder4819
    @markfelder4819 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you can make the time come to AZ and check out some of what it has to offer. If you come during the monsoon season you will find the best of west and east coast style wheeling. Take the back way to Crown King which will take you from the desert around lake Pleasant to the pine trees of the Bradshaw mountains. If your lucky enough to make the trip on a rainy day it will make you relocate your life to this Offroad paradise.
    I could see the twinkle in your eye on that west coast run. The desert is calling you.

    East Coast!

  • @jeepcollector91
    @jeepcollector91 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I prefer the western half of the US for offroading and even for on road travel. The scenery is the best part for me there. East coast in most places you travel offroad just to travel offroad. While out west you can travel offroad to actually get to something cool to see. I used to offroad on logging trails in NC but thanks to people dumping trash on many trails, they eventually get blocked off. I used to enjoy wheeling over logs and stumps and the mud in between added to the challenge. Now I am bored with it so I try to head out west as often as I can. Currently my favorite place to wheel is Death Valley. I also like heading to Dumont Dunes. There are enough trails out west to keep me entertained for many years as long as the trails stay open.

    • @zach23ize
      @zach23ize 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Are there any beginner trails out in "death valley"? I'm from the east coast and I'd love to experience both. With that being said my jeep(and me) is not ready for huge rocks or "tougher terrain". As for right now I'd prefer more of a scenic route per se

    • @jeepcollector91
      @jeepcollector91 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      All the trails I've traveled so far in the Death Valley area have been fairly mild. I haven't tried to find any of the more challenging trails yet if there are any. My last trip out there I didn't even take my Jeep, just my Ford E150 Cargo Van but I stuck to the old mine roads that are accessible off of West Side Road on that trip. The scenery is worth the trip.
      If you don't intend to camp out during the entire trip, I recommend the Best Western in Pahrump, NV as they have decent prices and a good breakfast buffet. Plus there is an AutoZone right next door...
      If you are going to drive out west, you might as well stop in at Canyonlands National Park. White Rim Trail is a very easy trail with good scenery. And check out Lake Powell as well.

  • @dennisgarrett144

    I'm on the East coast & I'm running 20" wheels with a 2.5" lift. It all depends on what you like doing in your Jeep. You do know you can lower your tire pressure & unlose your sway bar & yes the Tbar is most likely your death wheel wobble issue. But that's how I role & yes the video editor never mentioned tire pressure or sway bar.

  • @_MikeJon_

  • @March1966
    @March1966 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Oh, you forgot to cover the most treacherous area of wheeling, the Midwest! We have the tallest of mountains, the slickest red clay, the scenery is the corniest of corn. Seriously, having wheeled only to the East in the East/West scenario, Virginia, West Virginia, New York State, I can’t make a fair comparison. Living in the Midwest, I am partial to the change of seasons/scenery to the East. The thought of having seasons named after natural disasters doesn’t appeal to me (ie: mud slide season, wildfire season, earthquakes, severe droughts). That said, I’m sure the beautiful mountain regions to the west are something to behold and second to none for being challenging. My sister lives in Colorado and that area is just gorgeous.We do have plentiful off road parks here that at least allow the ability to wheel often. Wherever you’re at, I guess the best thing is to just enjoy it, take care of land, take care of your Jeep, and consider yourself lucky that you have whatever you’ve got. Just respect the trails. Not doing so is a great way to get them shut down quickly.Great video, having to use my Wrangler as a daily driver, I much prefer driving through mud/water/small rocks than risking major damage on big rocks. I’d probably be the complete opposite if I had a vehicle specifically for off roading.

  • @sfkeygrip
    @sfkeygrip 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Your "west Coast is not covering all the West coast. If you go off roading Near Tahoe, Grass Valley, Shasta or Lassen you get more of what you show as the east coast in your video. So you have to build a vehicle to do both if you want to take full advantage of the west coast off roading experience.

    WEST COAST all the way. Wheel in idaho and have done so in washington. Between that, and watching videos of trails more west such as Rubicon, Big Bear, Places in oregon, Washington, and even moab, i much prefer all hats to offer on this side compared to everything i see and would be limited to on the east coast. would love to wheel east coast some day, but if i had to choose.
    another user commented also on the ease it is to find a trail and places to go out super easy and within reasonable driving range, or right down the road. would have loved the video to incorporate a few different areas from each coast, perhaps diff states.

    It's all depending on where you are on each coast and what you're in to. East = Mud, some rocks, more mud, some more rocks. West = Sand, lots of rocks, some mud, and a sh*t ton more rocks.

Trails hundreds of miles long. Millions of acres of BLM and state lands. Conditions from muddy streambeds to alpine tundra above timberline. The east coast is almost all private property.

    West coast offroading is WAY better. The best part is you dont have to worry about your Jeep rusting into the grave because your inconsiderate local government puts literal metric tons of salt on the road, every single winter. My Jeep came from NY State and it has some minimal cancer. The only one in my area that has any cancer at all. Im pissed. Previous owner put a brand new frame on it though so thats a plus.

    West is best, East is least. I just can’t wrap my head around the desire to put a vehicle in a position where you know you “WILL” scratch and bend the shit out of it at 1 mph. Seems asinine to me but to each his their own.

      It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand!!! A big part of 4X4 off-roading is repairing your Jeep when you get it back home. You can repair or replace every part of a Jeep. It is a very expensive hobby. If you can't afford the repairs, build a mall crawler, then you will just have to worry about shopping cart dings. The west has better malls?

      @Captndarty 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      rond361 struck a nerve huh... you can repair and replace anything on any vehicle so what’s your point? To purposely destroy things and get a kick out of it? You’re right I wouldn’t understand and don’t want to. I’d rather be blasting through the desert at high speeds but that might be hard for you to understand. Again to each is there own. Oh and the west has better everything ha!
