So thankful when Mrs. Lauren stated that women are not the gatekeepers for men's purity!! Louder for the people in the back. We are individually responsible for our own purity, and we have to come to the Holy Spirit and the Holy Bible for guidance and insight. What works for me is NOT a formula that works for every female follower of Christ. Amen 🙏
I also love that Lauren said she is NOT throwing the baby out with the bath water by saying that it's okay for women to have an "I can wear whatever I want" attitude! It made me think of Romans 14! In Romans 14 God encourages us to have an attitude and spirit which considers other people! In that chapter the focus is on food! However, we can apply such an attitude to being intentionally thoughtful and considerate when it comes to doing what we can to set each other up for success! Ask ourselves what we can do to not create a stumbling block for each other? "Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister." - Romans 14:13. When we decide to truly view and respect each other as servants of Christ, it changes the lens through which we see other and are hearts are compelled to remove those blocks which can cause our Brothers and Sisters to stumble in their faith on ANY level.
Pure fire! 🔥 I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this is one of your most viewed videos because of the undersaturation going on in the church today. I love Lauren’s approach to removing the shame from our conversations about sex and women’s bodies in particular. We need to normalize that God created our bodies to be sexual and that there is a season for everything!! I learned so much from this conversation as a woman, wife, mom and minister! Looking forward to more - thank you!!!

Thanks so much for providing an enlightening conversation on a very difficult topic. I deeply appreciate all the content you are putting out! I am curious if you are able to disclose how many people are experiencing so much damage from the purity culture? Even if it's only a few people affected it's tragic and I hope we can make appropriate changes to the toxic parts of that culture. If possible, it would be nice to get some kind of number to better understand how many people's lives / marriages have been so negatively affected by it. We have been studying 1 Corinthians in my church the last few months (chapter 7 just last Sunday) and it's interesting to see how the disciples in Corinth, (such a sensual city) are repeatedly confronted by Paul about their sexual immorality...but many of them took such a radical stand against sex because of their culture that Paul had to tell them that actually if your burning with passion you should get married...I am rambling a bit here but I do hope we can figure out the right balance and how to approach this topic. If a couple starts dating what's the best way for them to set boundaries that are healthy spiritually, emotionally, physically (sexually) long term? Many have been scarred from a lack of disciplined Godly purity as well and so it seems like such a hard balance to advise people on. Thanks again :)
Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful comment! Numbers are tricky to supply for a few reasons- many people suffer in silence, many people throw the baby out with the bath water and attribute their suffering to the Bible/purity in general, and many people share their frustrations but do not feel heard. Additionally there is very little data-gathering on this topic within specific fellowships as well as Christianity as a whole. What a terrifying concept to have waited so long for sex to not experience a good sex life in marriage. Transparency, communication and humility is key. It is so healthy to talk about sex. SUCH a great question! Check out Kyle's next interview with Dr. Konzen for a more in depth discussion re: some of this but here's my quick answer- (please note that unfortunately there are not incredibly concrete definitions differentiating between attraction/ sexual desire in most literature. The following are definitions for arousal and lust which I find helpful and useful in practice, as well as definitions held up by Biblical truth and evidence-based literature) As Dr. Konzen mentions, arousal is an involuntary physiological response mostly based in the body (heart racing, blood rushing to genitals, etc). I like to define feeling attracted to someone as feeling drawn to them- maybe they are beautiful physically, maybe their personality is charming, etc. Both of those are God given responses that are reflexive and meant to lead to connection and ultimately to deepen our relationship with self and God. Lust, as defined Biblically and in literature, is the choosing to mentally exploit a person just for their physical/sexual attractiveness (picturing removing their clothes, etc). It is the complete opposite of God's intention for our arousal and draw toward others. When we are single and experiencing arousal, stuffing or shaming can often lead to a more intense struggle with lust. Acknowledging, praising, and thanking God for our arousal/draw then stewarding it wisely can work wonders in our lust battle. This applies to married individuals as well. Check out Soul Virgins by Doug Rosenau and Redeeming Sexuality by Dr. Konzen for more. Satan has done a NUMBER on the God given gift of sexuality. @@teddys3558 I feel you on trauma. I went through physical abuse from the ages of 4 to 15, watched my mom be physically abused through domestic abuse and had an absentee father. So I know abuse bro. Sorry for your struggle brother. At the same time we have to acknowledge that your words are hurtful as well. They damage me, my friends and my family. Men and women that love me deeply and give their lives for me. Where is your accountability. Hurt people hurt people. I acknowledge that. You though need to take a look in the mirror. Look forward to your call.
