LETS GOOOOO! Big agree. Yeah some folks don't like furries. But don't treat that as they same as "Coming Out".
People die for coming out as queer, there are actual laws in place across the globe about that. You liking Judy Hopps and BNA isn't the same. Regardless of someone who doesn't understand the fandom reacts, it's not the same. Having a cringe hobby, is NOT the same

@@BardicRJ Hey Bardic! Couldn’t have said it better myself. Lots of people overcomplicate being a furry, just gotta remind them it’s just a hobby in the end!

just saying for some people: being *sassy* or *sensitive* or overly-sympathetic does *not* make you gay or bisexual. it just means you're not what society has crudely defined as a *male*

I was lucky enough be a furry AND to have a boyfriend that I met in vrchat, but that’s the lucky part, the unlucky part is that I never got to come out to my parents as bisexual, instead, they needed my phone for some reason, and went through some discord dms of me and my ex bf, so I start pacing around my room because I knew that they found out, then they come into the room and yell “ARE YOU A FUCKING FAG?!” Straight to my face, that was 5 months ago, me and my ex (who I care about very much) haven’t spoken since, I’m still recovering to this day from all the trauma.

Excellent video, and good advice/talking points! ❤️
It took me awhile to find out my own sexuality and come to grips with who I was.
Thanks to caring and supportive online friends, I eventually came to the conclusion I was gay and also liked men.
I’m more attracted to a guy’s personality rather than for their body/sex.
I’d rather be with a partner that is kind and caring, rather than “hot looking” and a douche.
Thankfully I’ve been in a relationship now with my bf for over a year now and I really love him.

The one downside to being gay with an immediate family who is all straight is just how f*cking awkward it can get when a topic comes up relating to such matters. That, and then not understanding anything pertaining to queer culture, such as drag queens, not being of a binary gender, etc.

My mom went pride in my stead (i have autism so I'd probably have a breakdown from all the energy) and she said she saw furries there. I laughed and asked her what was her first furry experience like. She said she didn't hang out with them
Also, i tried explaining to my mom that i was (sorta) a furry years ago and she was so confused

Those are some very wise words, my friend. I never knew what I was when I was younger, always thought I was straight. Then I developed a crush on a male friend and though "Okay, I can live with that. No biggie!" Then after high school, I felt I was bisexual. Had a couple of relationships here and there. Now that I'm much older, I realize that I'm pansexual. I'm not hung up on what my partner identifies as, more what their vibe is and if they're male, female, trans, genderfluid, agender, then that's fine by me. I'll still love them for who they are as a person. My family is huge and there have been many of us who came out and have had nothing but support, so when I came out to my parents, they said that they love me because I'm their son and nothing will change that fact. It's been a long journey, but it is something I will never forget

Welp the timing couldnt be more on point with this one, literally got found out during a 4th of july party. It went well though.
Someone made a joke that quickly turned into a very direct question of if I was gay (no malice behind it at all) and I froze up, it was pretty obvious but thankfully with my living situation it was more of a bandaid that was going to get ripped off some time or another, no worries about anyone actually having a problem with it or being in a position for that to matter.
Definitly a shock for some people considering I dont display as flamboyant at all, but yeah, flamboyance was never a requirement

Being a furry is just loving anthropomorphic art and media, so it should be pretty easy to say “ I love anthropomorphic art and media “. Fursonas and fursuits and yiffing are just things that some furries may also do.

My coming out was quite strange I approached my mother while she was reading a book in the living room and so totally unexpectedly said, "Mom I'm gay." My mother put the book down and looked at me saying "I know." It later turned out that her lesbian friend had seen me at a club for lgbt people. That same day I confessed to her and my father that I had a boyfriend. Just as my mother took it all calmly and showed support, after few months more than once from my father I heard texts like "Did you find yourself a boyfriend or a sponsor?" or "Who's the bitch in this relationship?" only because we were meeting at the hotels because we wanted to give my homophobic father some space and time to accept this all.

Me and my brother are both furries and one night when we were having a conversation as a family my brother randomly dropped that he was a furry, and then I followed up with same the difference between me and him though is that I am gay and he’s straight. So when my dad heard that he IMMEDIATELY without hesitation asked if he had sex in suit. He didn’t give a fuck about me being a furry but was asking so many questions to my brother about it and his reason for it is and I quote”he’s gay, I don’t care what he does”It was a fun night but it was just me and him repeating over and over it’s not sexual and that the suit cost too much to do that in. But yeah he doesn’t really care and wasn’t that sober + hasn’t brought it up again sooo :3

I view "coming out" as more of an emotional state in which you want to say something to someone but it isn't easy to and with the fear of not being accepted by the people you care about and who care about you, because to me its more about coming out of your shell but to compare "coming out" as a furry vs a sexuality is like comparing apples to oranges they aren't the same thing.
So can saying what your super cringe non-mainstream strange hobby that has been attached to a bunch of weird things that probably arent true be hard. Fuck YES. Is it even close to coming out as LGBTQIA+ only if it feels that way to the people you want to tell because at the end of the day unless your making content out of it you aren't telling everyone for the world to see. But on a massive scale around the world they aren't even close in terms of the amount of hate they have and are receiving.

Ok so there’s this one thing I feel pretty shitty abt and I’m sorry for my language but I just need to get it off my chest. My siblings who are around my age (13-15) have asked what is my preference and I’ve told them that I am aroace or somewhere around that but in reality I am a gay man and have known that for quite a while. (I came to terms abt that when I was 13) and I just feel really bad using an incorrect label on myself, and especially since I have friends and creators I watch who are aroace or somewhere around that. Idk I just feel rlly bad abt that :(
