I’m 42, and just two days ago on November 15 I did my first Bunnyhop. For me, the way to get the back wheels up is to realize that you need to First pull the handlebars up, and second jump and bring your knees up to your chest. I was keeping my leg stiff all these years, but I think I’ll be able to catch some more air
I'm 34 year old father of the most amazing kid!!, this amazing boy it's so en love with his bike. I never owned a bike before so to encourage him I bought my self a bmx (mafiabikes kush2+, copper). And this tutorial, give me the strent to show my son how to do tricks and tips myself. Good vibes🤘
I've seen heaps of bunny hop video tutorials and this one is honestly the one, you gave a perfect representation of how to do the bunny hop. Thanks heaps.
Very good tutorial man, helps alot. This is from a 44yr old man learning to ride a bmx confidently with my 5yr old son as I've never owned a bmx as always had a mountainbike. I tell ya a bmx is so much harder on the muscles and body using muscles I never knew existed!
Fpr those that cannot get the back end up i suggest running your front tire i to a curb and pushing. It took me three tries and once my back was up i simply went for a b hop and it worked. If you can get the back tire up, on flat land, itll work in the air. Its all about the wrist position and the force behind your push.
Probably the best and most efficient bunny hop tutorial out there. The slow mo helps a lot. I already knew how to bunny hop but i want to make it perfect, going back on a bmx at 36y !
I recently got a bike and started to try to hop. I can manage to get my front or rear wheel up, but both seems to be a bit more difficult than I thought. Took me about 30 minutes of practice to be able to do a simple hop tho. But havent been able to jump over anything yet ... I loved ur vid and the different angles from your jumps. Thanx for the vid!
Great video!! I really want to do this so bad, and this is the best video I have found so far! I love how you described certain ways people do it, and explained what you're doing wrong, and giving us tips based off that. I love that you did that, because, sometimes I just can't understand what I'm doing wrong. And it is very frustrating. So this helps a LOT. So, thanks for making this video, great job on it. (Nice bunny hop btw, lol)
I just learned how to bunny hop bc of your vid man thank you so much, I tried scootering I tried skateboarding which I got close to learning an Ollie but never got it but man the adrenaline rush I got from bunny hopping for the first time was amazing!
Lmao i found this in my "watch later" list, i can't hop even nearly as high ad you but i can still get at least a foot high. A lot better than when i wasn't even able to get both wheels odd the ground and searching tutorials lol. The best advice i can give to new comers is just practice everyday, I'm sure if i practiced more i could probably get even higher!
im 13 i kinda just casually ride for fun i know 0 tricks. but theres something in my head that has a strong desire to go deeper into bmx’ing. and im going to learn how to hop
My foot slips off the pedal when I land sometimes, got a really nice shinner going (also learned to never never never wear shorts....). Is that just common beginner mistake of being unbalanced, need new pedals, or something with positioning my body/feet?
Angle your feet downward and press back into your pedals to help you scoop the back end up as your bring your legs up , this will help keep your feet engaged with the pedals (see 1:21). You also might just be wearing shoes that don't grip your pedals well. As for those shinner, no shame in tossing on shin pads under your jeans or with some shorts. Ignore people who would rather be hurt than ride.
Fyi, chainstay length also affected when doing bhop. Long chainstay (13.5"+) harder to bhop. Short chainstay (13.5" and shorter) makes bhop more easier. 😅
so basically, it’s more about moving your weight around than jumping on your bike as you would on land? he makes it look so ridiculously smooth as if he’s jumping WITH his bike. beginning freestyle rider here and just trying to figure out logistics!
Bro I just did somewhat of a bunny hop cause I got both of my wheels off the ground in one day toke me like 2 hours of trying but now I’m gonna try to actually do a better bunny hop
try keeping your weight further back. try waiting a bit longer before lifting up your back wheel, and getting a little more pop up off the ground with your front wheel. practice jumping low and landing on your back wheel first, and then experiment to find a good balance.
when you are just learning any bmx bike will do Haro make decent bikes, for the bunny hop practice flicking you feet back by angling you toes facing downwards lean slightly forward at the same time add the two together and you will get a bunny hop easy as can be. try it over a crack or a curb pull up in a wheeling motion then flick you feet up to lift the back end do it fast enough and the bike will bunny hop. When you get comfortable with the bunny hop try pull the bar closer to your hips then tuck you legs in like you are squatting you butt will be almost touching you back tire and push you arms out as far as you can this will make you bunny hop higher.
I can bunnyhop about 6 inches. I have trouble getting the bars to my waist. I lean back and explode up. I end up coming about an 3 inches away from the bars to my waist, any tips?(is getting the bars to your waist necessary ?) Im also 5'1 or 2 and using a 20 inch tt is my bike too big and if so is that why?
i think its just about getting the right balance. getting the bars to your waist is just a good way to make sure your front wheel is high enough and your weight is still centered. think of it like a spring, you're pushing off the ground with your back tire, with your body and the front of your bike springing up. after that all you gotta do is get your back tire up. being someone who can hop 3 feet high, i still mess up occasionally and end up trying to be TOO explosive, throwing my weight too far forward or backwards accidentally and only hopping like 6 inches because of it. the more explosive you are, the more control you need. make sure you work on technique first, not power. then once technique becomes second nature, you can give it more power. 'cause in the end, it all comes down to learning what works best for you and practice. also with your height and the bike size, it shouldn't cap off your jumping at 6 inches. im 5'7" and i ride a 20.8 tt and big ass bars and it works for me. the only thing that matters is you being comfortable on the bike. hope this helped!
i learned bunny hop first try, all i did was pull the front wheel up and yank ed the whole bike forward right after. i got a bmx so that might be easier too
I get my front wheel up high and and really easily, but I try to get my back wheel up by pushing forward but all I can do is push my handlebars down not forward. PLEASE HELP!!!
No problem, I'd suggest trying to just lift your back wheel first, and maybe master the english bunnyhop first, which means you lift both wheels at once.
Turtles On Bike style just comes from bike control mixed with rhythm and fluidity. If you have good bike control, focus on smaller details of any tricks you do, and have a sense of rhythm and pump, your riding will have a good style to look at
I can bunnyhop but I pull the bars up into my chest at the peak making the hop look very ugly and stiff, hopefully I'll be able to train myself out of this and to push forward and tuck my back tyre into my butt more.

More How to videos with Morgan Long Please
Hm....does pulling until the waist uses a combination of pulling and leaning back ? Or just pure leaning back and stand up?
My head hurts everytime when i do bunny hop. is it because i land with the front wheel first or should i get a little air out of my tire?
how do you get your rear wheel up
Thankz...you really explained...
Fyi, chainstay length also affected when doing bhop. Long chainstay (13.5"+) harder to bhop. Short chainstay (13.5" and shorter) makes bhop more easier. 😅

When bunny hopping do your feet do any work?
Eddie Esquivel yea they do, you must angle your feet forward to lift your back wheel.

Back wheel explanation plz
I used to do this all the time till I became 6'4" and 240 lbs. Tried it again and nearly ate the quill stem as the handle bars smacked into the tire.
i can do a mini hop but my feet keeps slippin out of the pedals whenever im on that landing momentum
