      i agree! I have road bicycles and thought it might be a good idea for my commuting to be able to do a modest, beginner height bunny hop...I've tried and failed, but you explained it so well i may try again. Mostly fear of falling backwards stops me even though my light bicycle has tried to wheelie by itself when i put a lot of pressure on a fast start. :)

    Bunny hop in this video lands with both wheels/back wheel, while bunny hop on some video youtube lands on front. What is the difference? Which one is easier/safer for beginner to learn?

    • @Ali_Clarkson
      @Ali_Clarkson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I know which video you mean, if so then he was just demonstrating what happens if you get the technique wrong, it’s not hugely more dangerous to land front wheel first on small hops but if you’re doing big ones then rear wheel landings are definitely better to aim for

    Watching your vlogs for some time now, I already thought sometimes you would be an amazing, patient and giving teacher/trainer for techniques around trials. This video is more than just confirmation my feeling was right.
    Keep it up!!! Really appreciate the time, effort and energy you put into your videos!

    Haven't tried your tips yet, 41 years old now and what seemed to just come naturally back in the 80's (not that I was every very good with big Jumps or Bunny hops.) Could clear about 2 stacked decks (skateboards laid on their side interlocked) been feeling like maybe the 2 bikes I bought in the past couple years are the problem. Last year I bought a GT performer 26" cruiser hoping to mess around like I used to. Thanks for the vid! Was feeling disappointed. Like, why the fuck can't I do this anymore? Lol. I also always liked the bars forward, I'm 5'11 but the GT cruiser frame is massive so I can probably dial out a few degrees of bar angle. And hey, In Canada we call the "American Bunny Hop" a "Bronco" like a bucking Bronco. Front end up and kick the hind legs. 😂 cheers man

    BITD we did not call those 2 wheeled hops " English" bunny hops. They were known as "Polish" bunny hops. Same with endos :" Polish wheelies" Not very PC, but thats how I grew up in the (American) Mid West referring to those moves in the early 80s.

    Thanks for the video mate. Though I'm not trying to hop 125cm over bars, I'd just like to be able to hop 10cm roots in the trail lol.

    In the midwest, in the 80's an English Bunnyhop was just called a Bunnyhop, and we called the American Bunnyhop a "California" Bunnyhop.

    Back in the early 80s the baddest bmxer was the late curt fujimoto and he would bunny hop over a bmx bike with the seat up high and do a completely flat table top. It was amazing to see as a kid

    awesome instructional..I never knew there was an English and American Hop...does that have any connection to Equestrian riding...English and American? Can't imagine hopping and shifting the horse to one side...best video by far..you got skills..teaching and riding...

    What kind of a turd would give this video a "thumbs down?" I'm 53 and I love this video. Nice job...trying to teach my lazy daughter how to do it on the f-ing expensive bike I bought her hoping to get her interested. Can you believe it, she wants to still play with dolls. ;-) (just kidding)

    There is a 3rd step you are not talking about! When your jumping through foot high pole your handlebars come close to your body very much. They almost touch your thigh. It's as if the bike is almost vertical and then you push off the Pedals to get height with the body and then push bars forward. I feel this when practicing. But I can't get a foot yet on my 27.5 mtb. But I feel this mechanism and just can't seem to do it. It's something with throwing your body up quick.... This needs to be discussed😀😀😀

    I learned how to bunnyhop here on TH-cam. I use a mountain bike, not a BMW, so obviously I can't go that high off the ground for a start. Also, I set the seat rather high, which is better for riding but that limits how high you can jump as well. But I usually only need to jump over curbsides anyway.

    You're right, I figured out english bunny hop never realized it would be disadvantage to these real bunny hops
