    We have a huge YT scam activity, so I remind you again - I do not hold any giveaways or contests, moreover, I do not have a public telegram channel, if someone try to contact with you like this - block them!

      @@ellobogallo9796 I would like to ask the same question. Why are you soldering the frets before you pull them. Is it to loosen them to reduce wood damage? Also, about the scammer. I almost fell for a giveaway scam a few months ago. The scammer spent an entire week chatting back and forth with me but I managed to get it through my thick skull the I was not chatting with a scammer and not the real person.

    Instead of what I am guessing is super glue (4.05), I mask each slot, squeegie in colour matched resin based wood filler, remove the tape and tap in exactly as you do. The filler pops out the fret ends and seals any gaps below the fret (As per at 7:09). I have found that it also makes for a super solid feel to the neck as all the slot is filled. Evo gold fretwire is only a few $ more than standard nickle, works a bit harder but will be the last fret job done. Very nice work, I also find the soldering iron to be the best way to reduce chip-out. :- )

    A lovely, tidy job. I must admit that at my great age I use a router base with the dental bits to clean and depth the fret slots. The only thing I am surprised about is that YOU are surprised by the poor quality of the fretwork. It's bad, but not especially bad for a Gibson, where the quality control is notoriously poor. I'm currently working on a 1963 B45 12 string where the dovetail is full of some sort of green filler. Yuk.

    That much tear-out almost looks like someone installed them vintage Fender style, tapping them in from the bass side of the neck so the tang would bite more.
    Leo Fender designed it that way because it was faster which meant cheaper. His plan all along was for players to just replace the entire neck once the frets wore down. Those old Fender necks were never meant to be refretted.
    This really looks like an old Fender factory hand got busy with a Gibson neck…

    • @claudevieaul1465
      @claudevieaul1465 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, that corner cutting certainly wasn't reflected in its pricetag...
      I had an XPL-V from 1985 (so just out of that Norlin era) and that one was rotten to the core too.
      Body from no less than 5 totally mismatched pieces of mahogany, frets were installed shockingly bad, around the glued in neck there was a few gaps that were filled with some blue putty that had never cured before they painted the guitar - still soft when I too it out.
      That V was sold, cheap as chips.
      I've played other Gibsons too, but never owned those - just the V. And thát was the absolute last Gibson for me 😂
      My Chinese knock-off Les Paul is definitely better 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    WOW. I'm truly amazed. I was surprised how you tamp the frets at the ends first, but it makes sense to force the outer barbs to grab horizontally by pushing the center down last. I really liked your polish technique because it doesn't require sandpaper or taping. I wonder what bit you're using to clear the fret slots... but that's probably a chef's secret. Is that CA glue you're feeding under the frets? Is that CA accelerator you're swabbing afterwards, or just alcohol?
