SO MANY of these stories depend heavily on cheaply creating mystery by characters intentionally leaving out important information. It gets frustrating.

This needs a sequel I want to know why the kid is attacking the main character for and what did the mother do to bring this on the family and thank you for the wonderful narration Stephen and to the writer Bravo for a true on the seat of your bed story
Some beings and people are extremely petty and believe in the sins of the father. Especially a child who doesn’t even have a concept of morality outside of being wronged.

@@Dreamstrafe Do the various Asian cultures hold people responsible for what their parents/ancestors did? I know North Korea and China do because of the three generation punishments but that’s an extreme example.
This is entirely the fathers fault, he should’ve prepared his son for this and told him how his mother died and what she went through
at least should have given him a more comprehensible warning. most kids would have broken the rule much earlier out of pure curiosity, which the protagonist seems to lack.
I thought the exact same thing. Why wouldn't he tell his son WHY?!
This is a tough one. The only explanation I can come up with is that maybe the father was forbidden to say anything. Maybe that was a strange rule that came from the boy to the father. That's all Ive got.

What a completely unique ghost story! Far more frightening than the “normal” haunting tales we hear! The telling of this great story REALLY makes the reader feel the dread of the main character, as well as empathy and concern what he’s facing!

No joke I was actually criticizing the Protagonist as a pussy until his dad told him it started attacking his mom. Then I was eating my words and boy oh boy are they dry and bitter. XD

I sympathize with the main character. Both of my parents have bipolar and schizophrenia and my mom passed away last August. She was stable until I became an adult then her mental state went more downhill. So I get about not able to see your mother much, even if it was after I got older.
Anyway, great story! I really enjoyed it.

When you have kids, that responsibility becomes your sole purpose, but before you know it, they grow up and don't need you so often anymore, and it's easy to feel an emptiness when that happens.
ay we’re in a very similar boat. my mom suffered from several mental illnesses, i’ve never heard the full story and i don’t think i ever will. she struggled with addiction and passed in august of 2015, when i was 12.
this story really resonated with me, and it was written very well!

This one hit different, actually genuinely unsettled me. I have a thing about eyes, having nearly blinded myself twice, when he reached up to his eyes my whole body tensed. Superbly told, as always.
What a creepy story. I'm "blind" in one eye because of a scar on my retina. To me, it looks like a swirling blob that I can't see through. So this story was quite interesting for me. Had me tensing up with some of the descriptions. Yikes!
I’m thinking someone in his bloodline ki lled the boy, so now he haunts them or maybe the oldest child of each generation. Good story. Kind of emotional.
I love how this story can also qualify as a metaphor for mental illness. Like some ‘ghost’ that impacts your view of the world
So interesting. The mother blinding herself, only for the boy to become more present and even aggressive, made me sad.
My best childhood friend came from a long line of schizophrenics and her grandfather stabbed himself in his left eye with scissors. After her recovered and was sent home he stabbed his right eye. He lived many years after that blind n silent. I should probably write this story out and submit it. My poor dear friend was murdered too so it would be quite the saga just don’t know if I can dredge it all up . Our minds are extremely powerful, be grateful for any sanity you have no matter what you have endured in your life

They say blind people don't get schizophrenia, so I wonder if there was any change in symptoms, probably heavily medicated after that, so it would be hard to tell

There used to be this ghost girl that would come to one of my first homes. She was around 10 or so and always wore a pink tutu. She would knock on our door and ask for something. My dad always told me that when she asked for something tell her you were gooing to go get it. Even if we didnt have it. Every time we got back she would be gone. That house had so many restless spirits. Including and older fellow. Youd see a black orb float from the kitchen, to my parents room, then to the bathroom. I heard he died from drowning in the bath tub. That girl in the pink tutu was a strange one.

When i was little we used to live in the woods and for 2 years someone would knock on our door at 3 oclock in the morning and when my dad would open the door nobody would be there. It was always the same time every night. I didnt really understand at the time but it wventually got to the point where my dad had to tell us to not open the door, he told us it was raccoons on the porch messing around.
I've been doing paranormal investigations for going on 4 years. My fiance and I have every professional piece of equipment there is. SB7, EVP recorder, 3 REM Pods, SLS camera, Flare camera, ghost box and even touch sensitive flashlights. We have lots of different evidence and catches, but last November I was cursed with an attachment. I feel this things moods, it's energy, it's depression, hopelessness and often times extreme anger. Never had any issues in my life of 43 years until last November when we investigated Batchelors Grove cemetery on the south side Chicago where we live. The digital pictures from that night reveal lots of different color orbs, 2 pics show a white mist around me. That's when we believe the attachment happened. I've been to mediums and was told it's a demon. Something that was never human and it would explain the sudden bouts of anger and depression and hopelessness. When it's not affecting me I'm fine no issues at all. Trying to find a way to exorcise this entity. Smudging and sage does nothing. Totally worthless

Such a good story. We wouldn't have much of a story if the characters followed all the rules all the time; it irks me though when avoidable problems aren't avoided due a lack of communication, especially in an instance such as this. Ignorance isn't always bliss.

Yes I hoped so too as I thought the boy was going to be some kind of ghost/demon thingy but scrolling through the comments I’ve read a lot of people are putting it down to mental illness that is hereditary 🤷🏼♀️

Yeah, It really makes you wonder if the supposed schizophrenic people out there are not just actually interacting with real people that might be a ghost, or something like maybe people from an alternate dimension and they just so happen to be out of phase/are intentionally only showing themselves to their target.

The father should have been honest with him right from the beginning. He should have warned him what horror's would follow if he ever spoke to the boy, just telling him not to talk to the boy wasn't a strong enough warning. Even if the dad didn't fully believe his wife once his son started saying the same sort of stuff the dad should have tried harder to get his son to never never never talk to the boy. Now his poor son has to try and live though a nightmare. Such a tragic story 😔

OH MY GOD! Talk about having your demons. I wouldn't have lasted a day without losing my mind. I have anxiety and get panic attacks on occasion. That can sometimes be a challenge. Is it just me, or does anybody else think the parents could have prevented this by just telling their son the truth? I couldnt help but to think throughout the story that this could have all possibly been avoided if the father gave an explanation to his son about why he should never talk to the boy, and also thinking it strange the mom wouldn't be frantically warning her son to not make the same mistake she did..even so, I really enjoyed the story. Nicely done!!!

Hey brotha! Found out some new stuff about myself... something bad, last time I was at my psychiatrist he wanted a BUNCH of tests done. Welp 😐😐😐 the EKG that was done showed that the right side top part of my heart is enlarged.... I looked it up an what I found out soo far is that part of the heart deals with the lungs. I have to go have a Echocardiogram done to be sure... I’m scared tbh... I don’t wanna die.... I’m only 33 yrs old! Idk man but please everyone out there that cares for another’s well being please could y’all say a prayer for me... I need the lord Jesus Christ an a little bit of Hope to get me back to normal. XOXOXO O O
I will keep you in my prayers, yes. Would you also pray for me? I am battling multiple serious chronic illnesses, and they are killing me. I do not mean to be morbid or depressing, but I am also not at an age where anyone would expect death so soon, and I have very little reason to hope that I will become better unless by the good grace and will of God. It is terrifying and consumes me with a constant dread and worry.
I pray we both make it through the other side to enjoy life for many, many more years.
