The way your voice sounds talking to the dog just tells me you absolutely adore dogs and working with them brings you just as much joy as it brings them
Love all your videos but this is beyond brilliant. So tired of using treats to lure dogs into a down. And for the 1 in 50 who won’t do it using the leash to guide them and stepping on it is sheer genius! What a beautiful video on place! Thanks again Koko!
I need alot help training my rescue pit. I don't have all of his history but I do believe that he has been severly abused. He stays in the corner of my bedroom. He has so.e.ksin issues and I've been using aloe and coco oil to help. He responds to some of the commands on a leash. But he still stalls me in some circumstances. Simple commands like " come " are an issue and bc of his trauma he holds his bladder. He not agresive he shows all submissive behavior. Food reinforcements help but he still stalls and just refuses yo go out or receive attention. I know you have so many others to help but I would appreciate any advice! Thank you so much I truly enjoy your videos!!
Years ago, I, horrifically, took my dog to a school that used those pinch collars. Worst decision of my life. They used not only force but electricity! It was truly horrific. So anytime I see those colors that's all I can think about. It was some accredited school but I Telya I now know that they have a reputation (bad!) around town. Thankfully, we found a wonderful school after that, that teaches using positive reinforcement only. I love that. I love how much you praise your pup, too! I totally agree that "place" is the best command! ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
How do you get the dog to stay on place and never get off unless given the break/let’s go command? My dog is pretty good for the most part but when she gets excited or if my husband leaves the room where she is on place, she leaves her place.
Building confidence and trust is profound and more important than anything before you even tackle reactivity. Prong collars helped my dog so much but also it isnt a silver bullet. You still gotta put alot of training in!
super cool to read this bc I just got my dogs first prong collar and he was a rockstar on his first day of structured walking. I'm really looking forward to more training sessions with him!
My guy is a 14yr old rescue and has bad hips. Just trying to get him to sit has caused growling and him trying to get away from me. He has never growled or fought me... advise?
Hey Koco, 2 questions. 1. At what age shpuld this be taught with en expectation that the dog can actually learn it? Like what age is too young developmentally? 2. Why the elevated place? I've got a canvas dog bed for my guy, is that bad?
The elevated beds are nice and cool in the summer and the wash off very easily. Anything can be called place. I bring a beach towel to the dog park and practice. We started teaching our 4 month old puppy place with treats. Lure to her bed with a treat and the second she puts her two front paws on it praise and treat. Then we expected her to fully get on it, then we put her in a down. Took about two weeks. Now we are working on staying there, but she’s a crazy puppy, so I have low expectations.
🌿🕊 I guess dogs are just like us in this type of situation. When we feel vulnerable we have to work through it so we're not vulnerable anymore. Koco, your a great teacher/trainer. (For human vulnerability check out books & Ted Talks by Brene Brown)💙

@@RescueDogTraining that's fine I planned on the zoom! Once we finish the move! I know you are busy! Sorry for blowing up your notifications. I love your style! Thank you!
My dog thinks we’re being mean and nasty if we get on his level. Also if he’s being corrected or made to do something he doesn’t want he feels threatened and will growl at us, tips?
Hello I have 4 dogs and 3 of them stay away from the 4th dog as they have aggression issues with other dogs. And on the weekend one of my dogs attacked the other one. And I have been watching your videos but just don't no if I should start back from the basics.
@@RescueDogTraining I will definitely let you know how things go. But also I don't know if you would call this a bit of a set back. But tonight my dog that attacked my other dog his name is diesel, well to night their were 2cats in our backyard and one got seriously hurt and we took the cat to the vets. My partner is a bit worried as we own 2 cats but never go out side and is worried they our dog will attack our cats. Also our 3 dogs sleep inside but in their area which has a gate so they can't walk around the house.
I have two questions: 1. Do you teach the word "place"? If so, you didn't show it. 2. What do you have the water bowl on? We always have puddles. I saved this one.
I feel sick to my stomach, I just went to see a friend who’s daughter rescued a dog about 8 months ago. I’ve heard how terrible this dog is, he has bitten several people. I thought I could talk to the girl who has pretty much decided to put the dog down. The dog is beautiful put definitely has a lot of issues. The chip on the girls shoulder was so big. She didn’t want any advice. I wanted her to watch your videos but after spending an hour there she made it clear she doesn’t want any advice. I asked her to find a no kill shelter but she seems determined if the next trainer she sees doesn’t magically fix this dog she is putting it down. I don’t think this dog has any consistent training but I felt somebody could help him. I feel I failed this dog and am very sad.
i find myself asking why all they way throught this vid. i came to your channel watching shorts of rescues and i just dont understand why people force commands instead of bulding trust. wtf are you gaining by asserting pressure on these things that dont even matter? you would reach these goals just as quickly using shaping instead - ask yourself how you would teach an animal you cannot touch?
Would love if you did a video on the difference between stay and wait.
There's a difference?

I love that he looked at her like "Oh, are you trying to get me to do something? Aight, kiddo, here, happy now?"
Thanks!
You are truly a Godsend! Thank you again for all you do!
This was hilarious. My dog just would not go down no matter how much i persisted. He is so stubborn
You are phenomenal!!!!!! You made my walks so awesome!! Thank you. I love my dog again.
It worked! Of course I had to food bribe but it worked!! You're amazing. Thank you!
He’s so sweet.
I just LOVE Cesar but I love you too❤️ much more from a woman’s point of view THANKYOU

Put them back in place every single time.
Nice videos. Can you make a video how to train my one year old dog to go after ball and get is back
Get it back
You are blowing my mind
this is very helpful, but can you show us training with a small dog, puppy
Appreciate you use dogs with little training!
I’m curious about the prong collar. Most videos I watch make a big deal about never using prong collars. What’s your philosophy there? Thanks!
I like that method of using pressure, going to introduce it to my Heeler 👍
He was a tough one to train!!❤️🐶

Any tips on leash pulling when on a walk ?
Delaney Negron yep. Lots. Several videos on this channel- go to the playlist “leash foundation”

I have been trying to teach place and he will do it but no matter what I use he chews it. He has chewed couches, towels, blankets, beds etc
Well that looks easy. He looks tough but he's just a smooshy marshmallow.
Right..an Akita is never just s marshmallow
what a perfect video! Thank you!!!
So how do u release the dog from there ? Can this be use on his bed too ?
what is your release command for "place". Or do you just take him by the leash off his place?

Can you use a dog bed, or does it have to be the cots?

My dog is scared of other dogs idk if you have a video already but could you do one if you don’t
Can the place command be used for their dog bed in a crate?
Does this work for puppies? Or do they have to be a bit older??
He looked at your hand like “oh you want down? K”
My dog is afraid of hardwood floors are narrow hallways and I wish he could get over that fear as easy as this lol
Is that a choke collar
😂😂😂 such a sweet obedient boy
Could you give some advice on dalmations?
On their "place" do they eat on there or is it just to relax and stay? Any activities?

Jessica Fribence massive structure- back to basics- bullet proof place command- crate- resource guarding video-rotate- pack walk

How do you help a dog with social anxiety with introducing new people? And with loud sounds like vacuums and fireworks?
MoPhoenix leash reactivity video and place command
Pls how do you make your dogs start jumping up to lick your face?

Why a prong collar ?

So my dog isn’t very food driven but she’s water driven 😂. So is there a way i could use water as a treat?😂
*stop jumping
mm gotta ask yourself why you are doing this. why are you forcing this exactly?
