I'm glad I found this training video. I have a Staffy and she is being stubborn. Going to by that collar and give it a try. Hopefully I will be as successful as you are in your training.
I just discovered your videos. I have a pit rescue. We got her from our local shelter about 3 years ago. I love her so much. But she is aggressive and very reactive to everyone who isn't a member of my household. I'm an apartment manager and I live on-site. I'm terrified that her behavior is going to cause me to lose my job or have to choose between her and my job (and therefore my place to live!) I'm daily stressed out because of how much of a problem it is just to take her outside. She can easily get every muzzle I've tried off. I'm going to buy this collar that you recommend this week. I'm praying that I can use that and your teachings to help my girl overcome her problematic behaviors so that we can go about our lives together. Starting tonight, she's out of my bed and in her create.
Send me your email, and I’ll put you in the leash foundation and reactivity courses. That will be MUCH better for your situation. They are similar to these videos, but step by step instructions, and I do a live Q&A every Friday for the private Facebook group. Don’t start with this prong collar I recommended, start with a slip lead. You can DM me on Instagram @HandoverRover👍🏼
AMAZING I have watched your videos many times while waiting for my training collar to arrive. I cannot believe that I observed INSTANT results for my 5-6 mo German Shepherd/Border Collie mix. After the first correction with the collar on. He sat down then laid down and looked up to me for directions. I am blown away. First brief walk was beyond belief. I have a new dog. Minor corrections with lots of praise and he is walking right next to me and looks to me for direction and praise. Thank you so much. This is my very first dog and I knew nothing. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Found you off tictok! So glad I did! I love training my dog and she's learned 15 commands in this 1 year I've had her since she was in a abusive home and it took a few months for her to fully bond with me and trust me. But now that she does and as long as I can keep her attention she does amazing! I've been working on her pulling lately and this helped so much! Hopefully she will catch on quick!

I just recently found your videos and I love them so far. I have 2 dogs and I know that for 75% of the time I am the cause of their problems. I am learning and try to get better. What I am struggling with the most is structured walk with both dogs. Individually they do great but if I want to walk both pups that’s where the problem starts. One is 5( beagle mix male) and one just turned 1( she’s a Ibizan hound Staffordshire mix). My lack of experience with dogs ( I never had any pets before them) is definitely showing, but I really want to learn and be a better pack leader for my dogs.
♥️♥️♥️work them individually first. Once you get better at leash skills, and they become neutral on the walk, then pack walk. Build up to it, you can do it!
Can't believe I haven't found your videos until now! My granddaughter, who lives with us, just got a 3 yr old pit bull who is great and very smart! He already is responding to the few commands we've taught him, and your videos are going to be really valuable from now on to train him further. Thank you!
Looking forward to trying this with my dog. She pulls and bites on the leash (66lb AmStaff) along with jumping and biting on me, such an embarrassment when I try to walk her anywhere 🤦♀️ thanks for sharing clear and precise steps!

I've watched a lot of videos trying to learn how, and nothing worked. I came across this video and tried it (turning and walking into the dog) and it worked! It's amazing! My dog is a 100 pound Rottweiler/Corso, and he now walks beside me exactly where he's supposed to be, on a 12 inch loose leash!
I have had an 80 pound black lab for 2 years and I’ve never been able to train him to walk. We’ve done classes, I’ve tried to do it on my own, and I’ve had no luck.. I basically stopped walking him because I have no control over him and it’s miserable. He’s even drug me down a hill before.. Well, today I finally bought a pinch collar and followed your tips, and it was the BEST walk I’ve ever taken him on. After a few minutes of practice, he was calmly walking by my side... THANK YOU.
I practice Figure 8s with my dogs. Additionally, I also walk them for exercise going for time and distance. When do you know the dog is ready to hit the real world? How long are your practice sessions?

Hi Koko! Can I use the prong collar on my puppies?? Theyre pitbull mixes and are a little more than 5 months old. They weigh about 26 pounds and they are HORRIBLE during walks! All they do is choke themselves on walks because they just want to go! Im at the point where I don't even want to walk them for their OWN safety!! Thanks so much!

I have a rescue pit. She walks very good on a leash but is reactive to almost everything. Your tips are very helpful on how to handle her when she starts to freak out. Her go to move is to try to slip out her collar. I am currently using a martingale collar on her and it has worked perfectly for her. In your opinion is a martingale just as effective as a prone or slip?
I can’t even get my dogs leads on without them going loopy. I’ve spent so much time leading them up in the house to desensitise them to the leads and while we’re just staying in the house they are fine as soon as the plan is to go outside they loose their marbles
Those left turns only seem to work well if your dog is slightly behind you (like yours is). Mine always ends up slightly in front of me and to correct him it's so hard to turn into him (he's also a big dog). He doesn't seem to step back 😅 I'll keep trying lol.
Yep. You turn right first. Once YOU get better at handling the leash, timing, feedback, confidence, and keeping slack in the leash, THEN you can implement left turns. When your dog gets in front of you, you turn and go the opposite way.
I know 2 pitbulls that need saving a mom and pup. Friendly. There both in Colorado springs co. Was not sure how far you go. I can convince the owner to allow them both to go.
My dog will lie down and refuse to walk, sometime he’ll even lie on his side. Tugging lightly on the leash won’t work to get him back up. I might just need to try out the pronged collar.
Hey I love all your vids! Maybe I’ve missed the one that no matter what, my boxer walks in front on me, even after 100 back and forth and cutting him off and turning. He just. Keeps. Going. Out. Front! Any ideas?
I have a very strong determined Presa who is a lovely dog at home. But on the leash is a menace. She would lunge and bark and snarl at dogs and continually pull. I now have a prong collar which works incredibly perfect for the dog aggression but she still pulls. She is very responsive to the collar and listens well to me but I cannot get her to stop pulling. It’s just a constant forward pressure. My shoulder and elbow is killing me. She does walk at my side. How do I get her to stop pulling (with the prong collar on).
Your walks are no longer around the block. Utilize 20 feet of sidewalk with little to no distractions- same amount of time, you have to learn to engage her. You HAVE to be the most important thing on that walk, if you’re not, your timing and feedback are off. The turns are designed to get your dogs attention, NOT to pull them to catch up to you. I offer zoom appointments if you need more help
I absolutely love your content, thank u so much. Can i apply this to a 3-4m puppy? Is slip lead ok to use in this case? Golden ret pup pulling lots on way back from walks
Loved it, very useful tips. I walk a few dogs and sometimes clients insist on using a harness. One dog pulls a lot, is it possible to control it with the harness? Ideally I'd like to use a slip lead or prong but not always possible to convince them
I am using a prong collar but she still pulls constantly. I keep popping her but no matter what she pulls in front of me. I have done the turns and walking backward as in your videos. I am to the point of giving up. I have used 2 trainers and still cannot get her to quit pulling. Help. Sofie is a 40lb terrier and has pulled me to the ground twice niw.
Any advice for when your dog insists on walking in front of you? I fully understand the concept but my pup always walks in front of me so it's hard to keep that short slack in the leash. I can't keep him next to me without keeping tension which obviously we don't want
I have a 6 month old kings charles cavalier, I’ve been training so consistently with an easy walk (his trainer recommended it) but I feel like it’s not really doing it’s purpose and I feel like on my 12 pound puppy a prong collar just isn’t the option I want to go for unless it comes to what I have to do…what else can I use?
I loved this video. What is the next step? Let's say I do figure 8s for 5mins then do we proceed with a walk? Also do we do this every time before a walk for how long? I find it hard to know when and how to impliment these tips sometimes.
Hi, I offer virtual training consults if you need help outside of the videos :) info is at HandoverRover.com I also have a $20 leash course available right now, that will help with the info you need: LeashFoundation.com
Have you experienced any dogs who get fired up by the left hand turns? I have a 13 month old BC who gets mouthy when I turn into him..almost like he thinks we're playing? I'm not sure if I use a verbal correction or not, because I don't want him to associate the correction with the turning? ❤️
You’re putting too much pressure on your leash, and over correcting. Watch this video I just finished... dainty feedback, no corrections th-cam.com/video/M1zxw-ylMD4/w-d-xo.html
I’m having a really hard time walking with my dog back FROM the park. One minute she is walking fine, and the next she stops walking and doesn’t want to move, she will just stand there. She will not move unless I pick her up. What do I do?
Ugh, I have 3 little dogs that go ballistic with on leash aggression (yorkie and 2 chihuahuas). I had each trained decently before bringing the next dog in but then they would regress and feed off of one another. Plus because they tiny breeds and susceptible to collapsed trachea I use harnesses. I feel like I’m never going to be able to try them under control so I don’t feel like the mother in the grocery store and her child is throwing a temper tantrum. Sad and defeated cause otherwise they are good dogs.
I know you're asking her but let the dog out to do their business BEFORE a structured walk so they aren't distracted. I have walks to let my dog explore and walks where there is a A to B destination that I want my dog to stay focused on the route.
You take pee/sniff/poo breaks on your structured walk........the only difference is that YOU choose when and where, instead of THEM deciding. Like the person below me said......some walks should just be letting them sniff and chill......but your structured walk is for You.
Hi! I have a question, I've trained my rottweiler like in your vids. structured walk, place command etc.. And she is great. But we have one issue on the walk, passing other dogs is not a problem but cats is another thing.. Her prey drive is massive, I've tried 180 degrees with the prong, Bonking and high stim remote collar correction to put the dog in avoidance (dogtra ARC 800) but she just keeps loading and going after those cats. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks! Btw, your videos are awesome! so simplistic yet complete. I Love them!
When do you allow for potty breaks? My dogs have a designated spot across the street from our house where they poop and pee, do we do that, then go on the structured walk?
My dog full force pulls himself infront of me so I can’t ever do figure 8s. I have the collars I pop it and he does not respond . He continues to pull ahead. I can’t ever get slack.
@j m Try a Halti head collar. It turns his nose and he will go in the direction of his nose. I used it for a 6 yr old Lab that I dog sit occasionally. I found it easy to use and he now walks nicely. Owner had a choke collar which did not stop the pulling at all. Be sure to watch the Halti videos. Go slow and be patient. I have no experience with a prong collar, but the videos seem to show that timing is critical. I'm not sure if I could do it right as an inexperienced dog sitter.
@@RescueDogTraining okay thanks for letting me know cause I have a 6 month old Labrador/saluki mix (desert dog) and she always slips out of the collor and harness most of the time no matter how perfect it fits her and while going for walks she's very anxious and as soon as we leave our building she trys to escape the lease and run back in, any thoughts about what I can do?

Hi Koko. Your Amazon link to the Herm Sprenger Prong Collar 3.0mm (for large dog, over 30lbs) says that item will be restocked on November 22 and I am trying to get a prong collar for my German Shepherd as soon as possible. I saw that there's a newer model of this prong collar that is fully stocked. Would you recommend this newer model prong collar? It's titled "Herm SPRENGER Ultra-Plus Prong Dog Training Collar" and is found on Amazon as well, at this link www.amazon.com/SPRENGER-Ultra-Plus-Training-Collar-Correction-dp-B0851GZZNR/dp/B0851GZZNR/ref=dp_ob_title_pet. It is also a couple dollars cheaper (for $21.99) than the prong collar in your link (that is $24.99). Thanks!
ONE thing I can't figure out is how to get my dog to stay next to me, he keep being ahead of me, so if I give a short lead like this, there's constant pressure. Even if I do left and right turns, he likes to be ahead. It's frustrating.
It takes practice. It’s frustrating because your timing is off. This isn’t a “do it on eve and your problems are solved” leash drill. Practice every single day. If you need more help I offer virtual training♥️ www.60minutecaninetransformations.com/zoom-call

@@RescueDogTraining OK great.. Trying to learn more about balanced training, but no one here offers that. So will have to do with what I can find online. Moved from the country side to the city recently and now my dog is crying whenever he sees another dog, so I started structured walks with the slip leash, but would be great to learn more.
Do you have any recommendations for any good leashes for training a 9 month old pitbull? He has chewed through durable leashes so now he has a chain one but those really aren't the best for training since they slip a lot and have damaged my hands from his tugging even with a prong collar on btw! Would love some help :)
How do I incorporate sniffing into structured walks? I do these walks for my dog and do want him to get the best out of walks, give him opportunity to sniff and do his business. How can I walk my dog without him pulling yet still allow him to be a dog and sniff?
Great video! I saw another video just like this with the prong collar, and the video was very very distasteful to me. I won’t mention whose video it is since he’s a well known dog trainer on TH-cam but when “popping” the dog on turns if the dog didn’t turn with him he literally “popped” the leash very hard and he did it even harder at the end cause he said “I didn’t hear a yelp and I like to hear that cause I know the dog is really listening to me” so he “popped” again so hard and the dog yelped. What pisses me off is he’s telling people it’s ok to do it and saying “see look how the dog acts now he’s very focused on me since I did that hard “pop” when really it’s totally wrong and reputable dog trainers say NOT to do that. Someone is going to seriously hurt their dog by listening to his bad advice. Just wanted to mention that since this is a very helpful video!! More people need to watch you instead of that guy!💯🐶
My dogs are trained on HS collars and they know that means I expect them to walk nicely...give them a flat collar and they act like total jerks 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Yes, I don’t teach HS collars anymore. This video will be removed soon. I no longer rely on tools to put a band aid over the issue. What if from the start they pull and never stop. Constant pull you correct they stop then back to it the second you start walking again
omg your pup is beautiful we had an akita but he passed away
I know 2 pitbulls that need saving a mom and pup. Friendly. There both in Colorado springs co. Was not sure how far you go. I can convince the owner to allow them both to go.
I don't think she will see your comment on a video from a year ago. Try sending a direct message or checking her website for an email address.
what about dogs who refuse to walk? My puppy freezes up after we get past our drive way
My dog will lie down and refuse to walk, sometime he’ll even lie on his side. Tugging lightly on the leash won’t work to get him back up. I might just need to try out the pronged collar.
yes i need help with this
What if you doog is a constant smeller
How long would you recommend a structured walk be?
Lauren Powell 30-45 minutes is a good amount of time. If you can do longer and your dog is willing, TAKE THEM LONGER!
Hey I love all your vids! Maybe I’ve missed the one that no matter what, my boxer walks in front on me, even after 100 back and forth and cutting him off and turning. He just. Keeps. Going. Out. Front! Any ideas?
FixLeashReactivity.com you have no engagement. The entirety of what you need isn’t addressed in one TH-cam vid
@@RescueDogTraining thank you! Will check it out!
Try a harness with a pull. Use two leashes one for the ring in the front.
Chey8888 absolutely no.
I have a 6 month old Australian German Shepherd. Is that too young to use a prong collar or is that okay? I’ve never tried one
I have a bulldog who pulls a lot but can only wear a harness because of breathing issues what should I do
I am having a hard time with my dog. She won’t stop sniffing I can’t get her to move.

Hi, I offer virtual training consults if you need help outside of the videos :) info is at HandoverRover.com
I also have a $20 leash course available right now, that will help with the info you need: LeashFoundation.com
Watch this video I just finished... dainty feedback, no corrections

@@RescueDogTraining thank you! Awesome content. I SO appreciate you.
Ummm, when do they pee? Or is that a whole different walk?
I know you're asking her but let the dog out to do their business BEFORE a structured walk so they aren't distracted. I have walks to let my dog explore and walks where there is a A to B destination that I want my dog to stay focused on the route.
You take pee/sniff/poo breaks on your structured walk........the only difference is that YOU choose when and where, instead of THEM deciding.
Like the person below me said......some walks should just be letting them sniff and chill......but your structured walk is for You.
@@St3veWK My dogs also knows the commands for pee and poop. That is very handy, he then goes into the bushes i stop at and goes to poop;)
So they only waiy is to have this kind of collar?
No. This is not the only way
you look gorgeous.. by the way thanks for the nice content.. i will follow this to teach heel for my gsd

Absolutely.....
On a structured walk, its important to give them sniff/pee breaks... But YOU choose when and where....
I have problems with my GS he is 1 year old and getting a little dominant, so when he sees other dogs he loses it. Could you help us on that?
Hi! I am about to improve the structured walk with my dog! Can I use a slip lead instead of a prong?
Ordering this collar ASAP! What size do you recommend for GSD he’s fully grown
If I dont walk my dog for two days in a row he is back to square one with the pulling. Maybe its because he's so happy to be walking after two days?
Maybe. If you can play with him a bit before the walk it might help for now
hey so does the bump thing work the same if used by a harness?
No
@@RescueDogTraining okay thanks for letting me know cause I have a 6 month old Labrador/saluki mix (desert dog) and she always slips out of the collor and harness most of the time no matter how perfect it fits her and while going for walks she's very anxious and as soon as we leave our building she trys to escape the lease and run back in, any thoughts about what I can do?

What size collar are you using on Kevin? Thanks :)

Do you ever use gentle leaders? My dog has improved with this greatly, but he still tries to bark and jumps towards people to be pet
That’s an other people problem. You have to tell others how to approach your dog.
@@theelement6255 for me it's not other people. sometimes they just walk past and my dog wants to get attention from them

Thanks!
Doris Woods perfect! Yes this one is the same!!
If you need more help I offer virtual training♥️

What do you recommend for puppies under 6 months?
Iva Pouhaleva depends on the puppy?
Either this version in the video or a slip leads- depending on the puppy I may use food luring
@@RescueDogTraining thank you! He's an aussie and we tried a slip lead but it did not go well 😂

So what if you live in a country where prong collars are not allowed..
Slip lead, NO distractions, food, clicker- I’ll do a video on it soon. Little more work, but doable
@@RescueDogTraining OK great.. Trying to learn more about balanced training, but no one here offers that. So will have to do with what I can find online. Moved from the country side to the city recently and now my dog is crying whenever he sees another dog, so I started structured walks with the slip leash, but would be great to learn more.
thank you, nice
Do you have any recommendations for any good leashes for training a 9 month old pitbull? He has chewed through durable leashes so now he has a chain one but those really aren't the best for training since they slip a lot and have damaged my hands from his tugging even with a prong collar on btw! Would love some help :)
How do I incorporate sniffing into structured walks? I do these walks for my dog and do want him to get the best out of walks, give him opportunity to sniff and do his business. How can I walk my dog without him pulling yet still allow him to be a dog and sniff?
I’m not going to put a prong collar on a 10-pound dog, next trainer…
Nope my husband will not allow it so how else can i train without the torture device
Slip lead.
Do you have Instagram? Thanks for all the amazing advices, and also you are super pretty
when does the dog go potty?

Now I figure out the underlying issues, build a relationship, and walk the dogs on flat buckle collars :)
