That's the true story... An Awar-couple (Awar, people in the Caucasus) had seven sons, all of whom had gone to war to fight for their country. All 7 Gazdanov brothers did not return from the Great Patriotic War. They died defending Moscow and Sevastopol in the battles for Novorossiysk, Kiev and Berlin.
The mother died after the death of the third son. When the seventh son lost his life, the postman refused to deliver the news of the death of the seventh and last son. So, all the elders of the village gathered and came to the father's house.
He understood everything without a word, but he couldn't bear this last message that his youngest son was also killed and died of a heart attack with his only granddaughter in his lap.
In 1963, an obelisk in the form of a mother and 7 flying cranes was installed in the home village of Gazdanovs Dzuarikau (literally translated as "the village of the saints") in North Ossetia.

Rasul Gamzatov was an Awar (one of the nations that populated the former USSR and Russia). He visited the monument. Impressed by this story, he wrote a poem in his mother tongue, Awar. Gamzatov's friend and classmate at the literary institute, Naum Grebnev, translated this poem into Russian.
Then Mark Bernes noticed the poem. Mark Arkadevich asked Jan Frenkel to compose music. The vocalization was finished after 2 months. On July 8, 1969, the son brought Mark to the studio, where he was record this song. This record was the last in his life. Mark Bernes died on August 16 (he had cancer).
Rasul Gamzatov visited the Japanese children's peace memorial in Hiroshima, inaugurated in 1958 and inspired by the sad story of the Japanese girl named Sadako Sasaki, who suffered from leukemia after 10 years the atomic explosion in Hiroshima. Sadako Sasaki hoped that she would be healed if she made a thousand paper cranes with the art of origami. In Asia, there is a belief that a person's wish is fulfilled when he folds a thousand origami cranes from colored paper.
Rasul Gamzatov later wrote: "... The words of this song ... had a specific address - to the millions who died who did not return from the battlefields of the Second World War. ... but at the same time I see no reasons why it is impossible to dedicate the cranes to the victims of wars of all times”. The recording was made in the studio of a local radio channel, where Diana came with her mother for an interview after winning an international competition in China. When adopted at the age of 5, she was nonverbal child (because of the abuse} and the professionals recommended vocal lessons. I like to imagine that her voice was one of her first "toys"to play with, so no wonder she is feeling the sounds!

Я заметил одну особенность Дианы: она абсолютно не боится сцены, соревнований и всегда уверена в своих силах, сказывается многолетние выступления на разных площадках-от свадебных вечеринок и круизных выступления, на сценах торговых центров и бульварах набережных, ее трудно смутить жующими зрителями или спешащими по своим делам прохожих, она вся в песне, которую исполняет в тот или иной момент. Помните, если видели полностью ролик её первого выступления на проекте "Ты-супер!" с песней Derniere Danse: там ведущий спрашивает её перед выходом на сцену- Ты уверена в себе? Она отвечает - На все 100%. Она уже в ту минуту была на сцене мыслями. Поэтому, думаю, что и спела она с первого дубля данную композицию.

No es en un estudio de grabación, sino en una Radio Emisora y canta en vivo, así que lo hace en una sola toma y por ello es simplemente maravilloso. Otra de sus interpretaciones brillantes de esa edad es una canción que traducida con el Google translator es "Mi abuela fuma pipa" o algo así, es una divertida interpretación de Dianita.

I was loathe to watch this as I remember buying it when it first came out (on the album Abbey Road) and absolutely love it. But I was wrong - this is developmental English by Diana and for her age is very impressive. I adore this song and am really taken by this performance. Like everything by this young lady this has power, emotion and not a litlle pizzazz. Great, as usual.

Her biological mother mistreated her. .Already at the age of 3, the baby got into an orphanage. At that time, Irina Ponik worked there as a masseuse. The woman was so imbued with an affectionate and kind girl that she decided to issue guardianship over her. now the girl is surrounded by care and love. She considers Irina Ponik to be her mother, because she is the one who puts her soul and believes in Diana.

I am not sure if I am right but I thought I heard when she went to live with her adopted mother that she was not able t speak due to trauma of her abuse and that her mom got her a speaking therapy which included singing to help a child to be able to speak again, not sure what age she was then. I know for sure when they found her she was not able to speak.
Greetings from Armenia! Dear Lynette Diana went to an orphanage when she was 3 years old.She could speak , but with difficulty and stuttered. When Diana was 5 years old , the masseuse of this institution Irina Ponik (foster mother) issued guardianship over her. Diana to vocal lessons to correct her diction difficulties.Her foster mother did everything to make sure that she grew up a full-fledged child.There are records when she sings at the age of five. Hi Josh. You were talking about her starting to practice singing right when she came to the orphanage. I have read somewhere that she was found on the street and wasnt able to even talk at the age of four. I believe that is why her adoptive mother took her to the vocal coach. So she did have the advantage of a vocal coach, but also the huge disadvantage of not being able to talk due to traumatic experiences (others please correct me if Im wrong). That takes a lot.

Должен сказать, мне нравится Анджелина - я знал о ней задолго до Дианы. Но у Дианы самый интересный и увлекательный вокальный стиль, который я когда-либо слышал. Но потом мне нравятся Хейли Рейнхарт и Ния, которые тоже пели с PostModern Jukebox.
