The band's manager arranged an animated video because of Freddie's seriously bad condition, he could hardly stand and walk a bit, but Freddie didn't want to say goodbye to the world as a pencil drawing. He wore cashmere underwear because he was always very cold due to the high weight loss, but he also wore the painted waistcote which is decorated with the images of his beloved cats, he loved them as his babies. Freddie had an extremely strong personality, he never regretted anything, he was never complaining about anything, he was living for the music. His illness could break him very late only, he gave up the fight when he could no longer sing, after Mother Love which he couldn't finish.

You were so right in his final analysis, the moment at the end where he just whispers to the camera: "I still love you." was fully inteded as Freddie's way to say goodbye to us, the fans, whom he loved as much as the rest of the band, his boyfriend Jim and his friends and family. We all meant the world to Fred, and he made the greatest effort he could to make sure he could perform this video himself so he could give us a proper farewell before he went. I remember when this came out, I was still barely into my adolescence but I had already become a big Queen fan thanks to my parents' love for the band, the fact that when we saw this video, released a little after his death, it came at the perfect time to give us all such beautiful closure. For us he will live forever, Freddie Mercury will NEVER be forgotten ...

The cat decorated silk waistcoat that Freddie is wearing was handmade by a friend as a Christmas gift in 1990. This song was released on Freddie’s birthday September 5, 1991. Freddie passed away on November 24, 1991. This was the last Queen video Freddie appeared in. The last song Freddie did vocals for was MOTHER LOVE ❤ Freddie was unable to complete the last verse .. so Brian’s sings it!

  • @DWtechfan
    @DWtechfan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Brian May's guitar solo in this video sounds like it's legitimately weeping for Freddie Mercury. It's a very powerful last video from Freddie saying goodbye to all the fans and when he looks into the camera at the end and says "I Still Love You" that's enough to make anyone cry. Especially knowing what Freddie was going through as he was in the final stages of dying from AIDS. Even though Freddie was frail and dying, he gave one hell of a performance here. We still love you Freddie! Great reactions here. You should react to Mother Love which was Freddie's last actual song with Queen and he died before he could finish the final verse and Brian sings it. It's super sad but haunting and powerful.

I saw them perform at live aid and I was totally hooked and I still am. Thank you Freddie and thank you Queen

According to Brian, Freddie was really sick at this point and was determined to finish the album.
He was wearing a lot of makeup, I guess that's why this is in black and white, but he was going to get this video done. He would take a short break, down a shot and go right back to recording.
I'm so glad I got to see them in their prime, those memories will never fade.
    Rest in peace Freddie.
Its okay young lady, generations will always have Queen thanks to these videos.

I happily listened to this song for years and considered another Queen classic. Beautiful song written by Roger. I had two small kids when it was released so I didn't spend much watching music videos. It wasn't until years later that I saw the video, and years after that when I saw the behind the scenes footage. Can't listen to it without sadness now. But I do listen, and I do watch, because they were a family with all that that means, and this is part of their story.

Such a bittersweet video. Like you said, Freddie was in considerable pain, but insisted on going to the studio, and recording what he could, each day. There was a real softness and gentleness to Freddie's voice in this, but it still hits like a hammer, much in the same vein as Johnny Cash's performance in Hurt. Like some have posted, his parting words really hit home.

If I may I'd recommend Mother love from the Made in Heaven album which was fantastically put together by the remaining band members after Freddie's passing, altho extremely ill at this time Freddie's vocals are so strong and on point, unfortunately Brian had to finish the last verse as Freddie never made it back to the studio

You're right it is considered as a goodbye song especially with the very last seconds when Freddie looks up and say "I still love you"🫶🏻. Also I ve read that he unfortunately passed away only a few days after recording the video.
There is actually a making-of video you can find here on youtube. Even harder to watch but definitely shows the warrior and perfectionist Freddie was until the very end.

Freddie was in so much pain he could barely stand long enough to do the song, but he was determined. His body was failing him, but his voice was as clear and beautiful as ever. Freddie Mercury on the set of the “These Are the Days of Our Lives” video in May 1991. The director filmed in black and white in a desperate attempt to conceal Mercury’s physical deterioration, but his emaciated frame is painfully apparent. “The bottom of his foot was a completely open wound,” He died just a few months later.

Thank you and bless you, Bisscute. You're a darling young woman. This song makes every Queen fan old and young feel sad, but happy that we so lucky to have Freddy for such a short time.

44 seconds of guitar solo say the whole story of a life, those are the days of our lives.
Silently came in, softly grow up. (no pick and less gain)
    Then big pause (silent).
That pause for raising up forcefully, echoing, spreading his sound to everywhere. (distortion and delay)
On the top of that, it stays stable and final dance to end the solo. (less delay)
Brian is not just a guitarist. He is actually a story teller through his technique and guitar.

Emotions. I shed a tear every time I look at the greats who are no longer with us. The voice is there, but the body betrays. Big damage.
Freddie, best voice ever. Rest in peace.

I simply could not believe Freddie died. It was so shocking. He was obviously changing, I could see there's something going on, but never in a million years I'd think it'll end up like this.

😢 omg I didnt see your after thoughts. You are so sweet. And such a genuine reaction.
Freddie didn’t see your reaction, because he didn’t make it.
But… @BrianMayCom still have a chance to see how big an impact he has on every human being.
Take it with you into the afterlife Mr. May. I hope you live forever. Atleast long enough to see this wonderful person getting struck by your magic.
    Biss.. bless you. ❤

One of my favourite songs. Always makes me sad when I hear it though.
You should react to the song the rest of the band wrote for Freddie - "No One But You (Only the Good Die Young)"

This is a great song that always gets me teary, it is a beautiful song, both the lyrics and the music. Freddie was a great loss to the music world, but he never wanted a fuss, he just got on with it, and boy, did he leave us a wonderful legacy of work.
You should follow it up with The show must go on.

As an older member of the UK, we grew up with Queen, from the early days of Killer Queen to the last.
The day the passing was announced I was driving, I had to stop as I know to many it was a musician who had passed away but to someone who had been a DJ in the 70s and 80s ( proper job now lol ) it was almost like a family member had gone.
I think it’s a bit funny how people listen to advertisements on the TV and it’s Queen music stadium events fans sing Queens songs. From the first ever Video with Bohemian Rhapsody and the Stadium sound that Queen used people don’t know how unbelievable this group of guys really were.
They say it takes two to tango but it took four to create the most amazing memorable music that is never going to be forgotten.
Maybe a look back to 2012 and the London Olympic Games and the closing ceremony Brian and Roger performed but using a hologram of Freddie the stadium erupted into applause and song.
Legends never die do they! 9:34

Brian said "me and my wife went to see him in his London home, Freddie had his bed brought down to his living room and was laying there with the window open so he could look out his window at his beautiful garden". I was talking to him about his garden. Then Freddie said, " you don't have to make conversation just you being here with me is enough. A little bit later I contacted Roger Taylor the drummer, And said to him "Roger don't rush here He is gone.
