Its cold AF in MN today, but you've inspired me to go for a hike anyway!

This is what i like. Classroom for 10 mins explaining everything to be used, the rest showing the practical aspect from the the classroom. In the British Army we called it "EDIP", Explanation, Demonstration, Imitation, Practice......Lets hope no one gets in the situation where they need to do the Practice. Stay safe. One thing is missing from this Video.......The "Massive amounts of mouth watering calorific intake of fire food" The food was a bit "tame"?. Keep this up and thank you.

Nice job once again Corporal! I like the term "Minimum Kit", and consequently, I just created my own this week. I'm going to change it's name from micro to minimum now. Mine's just got a little bit more gear because I'm 64 years old and need more things for an emergency overnighter here in the jungles of Florida. Same idea though, and a minimum kit is much more likely to be carried than a larger one. Keep inspiring us sir!

Cpl good vid. As a former “rigger” there is a small warning for those with still tender hands. Burning the end of paracord, the burning nylon nodule gets hot and can burn tender skin. A good work around is to lay the cord against something solid and run your nail against it. It may smart a little but it won’t blister your finger, a bad deal out in da woods. As your skin hardens then you can pull it off like the Cpl. Sarge out……

Almost the same as your quick deploy ridge line, I don't remember how long ago I learned about that, but I know I learned it here on this channel. On a side note, and I've probably said this before, I always appreciate how much time and effort you put into producing these videos. I'm sure some folk really don't know or appreciate how much work is involved. 😃

Thank you for the video. We just had two teenagers die in Northern Wisconsin due to being stuck out in the weather. It was nice that Sunday morning around 45-50 degrees, April 16th, 2023, but the weather turned bad quickly with sleet, snow, freezing rain. The search for them didn't start until Monday morning, but they were found dead on Tuesday. The young man, only 17, was last seen wearing a sleeveless shirt. The young woman may have had a sweatshirt, but there is mixed info on that. I have children their age and this is just heartbreaking. I wish those kids would have at least been dressed for the weather. I yell at my 17 year old son to bring his coat in the car with him, just in case, as he leaves the house with a t-shirt on. Kids are dumb...I was dumb at that age too. Now my son takes it seriously. This was the third teenager that died in Wisconsin this year due to the elements. Please help to spread this info and help educate our youngsters on how to be prepared in the woods, and in their vehicles. Share this video with those around you.

The loss of a child .. no recovering from that.
'Dumb' .. not necessarily. More like the 'Invincibility of Youth' and a 'Know it All' mindset.
      🤔 .. yep, probably 'dumb'.
Unnecessary 😔. I'm a Boomer and learned from my Mom back in the 50's to 'always' take a jersey', irrespective of the weather. This advice has served me well .. and some satisfsction from watching the the later discomfort of those who had earlier scoffed at my caution.

I dig this new format. The rapid deploy ridge line is great, I ended up taking some small plastic toggles off of something and adding them to the prusik loops, made it even faster. I have two different Ridgelines, one for my poncho and one that's about 10 meters for my DD tarp, the extra length accommodates bigger trees and having plenty of space for my hammock. For a minimum winter kit you could add some plastic sheeting, a few contractor bags or an inflatable mat and a blanket so you've got a super shelter. That's what I keep in my trunk.

Gear adrift... I never signed the blank cheque but I, early, learned "Tactically acquired."
This is my poncho; There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My poncho is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
Without me, my poncho is useless. Without my poncho, I am wet. I must don my poncho true. I must face the rain straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must apply a poncho to him before he shoots me. I will… (end him and reacquire the poncho.)
My poncho and I know that what counts in war is not the raindrops we shed, the noise of our doffing, nor the smoke of our cigarettes. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit.

Another informative video. You teach we learn. It’s an awesome trade off on my end.

I sneaked a Bic type lighter (it may not have been an actual "Bic") on a SERE course in the USAF. It got wet and the flint dissolved. And I'm old school (1970's)... I remember when the only place to get paracord was cut it from shroud lines.

    Love the instruction.
Your fingers looks like my dad, who was in US Army vet, making knots when we were out and about. He had great fingers for making knots. Like yours.
