Physical buttons in Macan were a big reason I bought one. Love it.

I am loyal to the Porsche brand and recently made the choice between the Cayenne and Macan. I do like sporty cars and as my fun car i have a boxster s, so my daily driver was a choice between Macan S or the Cayenne. I drove both and the Macan just feels way more sporty, the shifts on the PDK are crisp and the handling of the Macan is way more car like. Dont get me wrong, the Macan is NOT a sports car, it is a luxury suv with a sporty feel and look. With regards to the center console and the buttons, i like the buttons better, may be not as futuristic buteasy to operate and you dont see smudges on the touch screens. For me back seat space is less important as occasionally i have back seat passengers. In the end the dollars play a major role as well. All around the Macan is a better buy and better looking in my opinion.

You say, the Macan is old because of the gauges and the buttons....That is what makes the Macan BETTER!
Everyone has their preference I said the Macan is older because of where it is in it's refresh cycle. The cayennes design was all new for 2019 whereas the Macan is due for a redesign soon
I like the buttons on the console in the Macan better. I looked at the Cayenne at the dealership and decided that while I love the sleek, modern console design, it's just going to get scratched up and will be massively prone to fingerprints and dust...sometimes, you just want to push a real button and get the feedback without leaving messy fingerprints all over the place.
Agreed. The piano black controls in the Cayenne are ridiculous. They look ratty in a matter of days. CONSTANT cleaning to maintain their "sleek appearance"

I own a 2019 Porsche Macan S. Bought it brand new. I'm also 6'2". Absolutely love this car.
A few things I want to mention. I'm trying to get a handle on the "older technology vs. the new technology". I assume you're basing your opinion on the digital buttons vs. mechanical buttons. The Macan received a facelift in 2019. So whenever Porsche does a facelift again, the Macan will only be one year behind the Cayenne based on current cycle. The center console screen performs identical in both cars. They use the same exact processor. Not sure why you're saying it's faster in the Cayenne. I love the mechanical gear shifter and buttons as I know most Macan owners do. The only reason why the auto industry is going to digital touch is because it's cheaper to produce. Nothing we can do about it but voice our opinions.
Wrong. “Digital touch” or resistive touch technology will cost more than actual physical buttons as of today. I can see it becoming cheaper once manufacturers start to implement them in mainstream cars. An analog cluster will cost less to produce than a digital cluster. It is usually offered on the higher trim levels on most vehicles with the exception of Porsche.
I've had the latest, facelifted Macan S for a year now. It's a great all-rounder - fast, well planted in the bends, reliable and luxurious.

Great video!!! I tested both and went with the Macan S. My kids are grown but I have a granddaughter and I really felt comfortable in the Macan. Even though the Macan is smaller, I didn't really feel the difference in size in the front two seats; based on size though, the Macan seemed a bit sportier. As far as technology, I loved the buttons since they look cool and they were laid out in a logical configuration. Thanks for the review!!!

I drove both and fell in love with Cayenne. If I was just getting started I may have gone with the Macan first . No regrets on my choice
I'm looking to buy a Macan now and this comparison really helped thanks! Can I make a production comment about this video: dude your audio levels are all over the place. That would have been fine 8 years ago but TH-camrs are now so sophisticated that if you want to grow your channel you MUST get your audio together. I say this with intent to help, not to insult or hate.

Just got my new Macan S and it's a perfect mix of sport and utility, providing you don't have huge needs for people of size in the back but can if need be. The Macan was a perfect fit for our needs with a ride of a sports car and confort of a family luxury vehicle with power to spare. The Macan is the 911 with a taller stance.
I’m very happy with the original design on my Macan 2015 S. The Macan is by far the best ‘do it all car’.
Cayenne for me 💪
Love the old design. So simple. Dont have to look at the screen too much when driving. Just just buttons.

Good insight on both cars and review of interior space. I love the Macan for it's sporty handling and pdk transmission, but I already have a 911 4S and Cayman S for my sports car thrills. For our family needs we ended up with the Cayenne S because we needed the extra cargo space for home depot runs, occasional furniture pickups, wife's crazy shopping, hauling gear around for music gigs without putting rear seats down, hauling 5 people comfortably, and the extra towing capacity for the occasional camping trip, motorcycle, boat, or race car trailer. The Macan is great, but really cramped in the back cargo area with the rear window raked so steep and limiting how high you can stack things without putting the rear seat down. Another big issue is that my wife likes to feel higher up while driving. Gives her a better sense of safety and security in the Cayenne vs the Macan. Part of me goes back and forth because I like sporty things to drive. If I wanted a sporty daily driver then the Macan is a no brainer. If you want more comfort and hauling compacity, then the Cayenne is the no brainer. Both are great and wonderful cars. Just be honest about what your needs are. They both are a Porsche and come with Porsche quality and handling. One is not better than the other. It's really a personal choice about what you value the most in a car at a particular phase in your life.

Macan is for sporty car users and cayenne is for family car users. ( I still think macan can do family car though)

Before buying a Macan, check out the oil leak videos because of the aluminum engine bolts. Sometimes Porsche does the stupidest things.
I have the new cayenne, but i also have drove the macan too. Cayenne is way more luxury, comfortable and spacious, Macan has more sports car fun, way quicker on the gas pedal, i tried to lower the driver seat to the lowest point, felt like in a cayman on the highway .
For sure if you don't need the extra room I'd take the Macan all day

Varies based on where you live. Google it.
Porsche uses a different pricing model than other auto manufacturers because you get to "build" your car. Expect a base Cayenne to cost between 75k and 88k while a Cayenne S will almost certainly top 100k. Of course, there's the much more expensive GTS, Turbo and the 185k Turbo S E-hybrid. The base Macan will cost at least 15k less. Also note, the video uses a Macan S and a base Cayenne, which will probably make the 2 models within 8k of each other.

Great video Sir ! Umm for the price you pay and cabin comfort for the Porsche Macan CUV's I would rather get the Cayenne . My step brother owns a 2017 Porsche Macan and man is it really a tight squeeze inside , lol umm I am used to acres of space after driving Ford F150 crewcabs for many years . CHEERS..

I have the base Cayenne and when I took it in for service they gave me a base Macan as a loaner. There is no comparison between the ride quality. The brakes in the Macan feels slow and it has 100 less hp to begin with. Cayenne sits way higher and the driving dynamics are much better.
yes duh you are like comparing bmw x3 vs x5 and saying x5 is definitely a better car, it's pretty obvious considering their tier and price difference, however next time try Macan S vs base Cayenne you'd be smiling in Macan S
Telling me I have 27 cu ft of cargo space really doesn't tell me much. Can I put 4 passengers and have enough trunk space to lay down 4 sets of golf clubs in either of them?
I'd say the Macan fitting 4 clubs with people in the back is questionable but the cayenne you should have no problem
After owning 2 cars with air suspensions in the past, I always AVOID them from now on. Total headaches.
Why you want to avoid air suspensions?

Seemed a little biased from the start. Macan is a different vehicle. Its smaller and more nimble with the PDK!

I have had heads up display now for 4.5 yrs on my BMW. I love the Macan S, but HUD is not an option. Once you experience HUD, you will miss not having it. I believe Cayenne offers it as an option so I will have to go with the Cayenne.
Great vid. I have a question. I have porsche 911 and now I'm thinking of getting a car with more seats. I'm thinking Macan S (2022), Cayenne coupe S, and Panamera Sport Turisumo. Which one would you recommend and why? Thanks!
Cayenne s will feel the least under powered and be the most practical. More storage more ground clearance especially if you still have the 911. They also maintain value well because of the demand
Panamera too long and Cayenne is the fat ugly sister. When you drive to that beautiful little village in the summer and struggle to park it up you will wish you had chosen the Macan!
@@Manc-fh5we I totally agree with you about the easy parking and driving in a small town and village with Macan cause they say it's very agile driving. I like to drive winding road. But considering it's still a SUV, higher, and panamera is sedan and lower center of gravity, wouldn't panamera's drive ability better than Macan SUV with some roll?
@@kevinhan721 I do love the look of the Panamera. But it’s 14 inches longer than the Macan. That’s a lot! I remember watching an episode of Top Gear where Clarkson tried to do a 3 point turn in one which was hilarious but really put me off spending my own money on one. I own a Macan S but have never driven a Panamera. I’m sure you do have a point with regards handling characteristics but honestly I do prefer the higher ride the SUV affords but that’s just my personal preference.
Macan has clutches, Cayenne has a torque converter. Macan gets the win.
I didn't catch that one good catch that's why the Macan did feel a bit more responsive, still for a torque converter transmission that in my opinion was the best I've driven it's very close to a dual clutch
The "win" is bittersweet when the clutches need replaced.

All Those buttons work all the time bring back real buttons! who wants to mess with touch screens while driving 70 and 80 mph on the highway sometimes they just don't work like your your phone screen it doesn't work plus they get full of fingerprints and looks like crap.
James, it's Ma-chan, not Ma-khan. The Ma sounds like cellist Yo-Yo Ma or Mama mia. The Can sound like Cha cha cha, Channel etc. The Macan is Indonesian for Tiger found in the Pulau Macan - Tiger Island - Java Indonesia.

@@9fiveb180 Wrong. The word Macan is not English, German, Swedish, etc., but Indonesian, which means Tiger. It's Sanskerta - Sanskrit, not Latin or Greek etc. When you pronounce it, Ma-Khan then it refers to or sounds like female private.

Yes definitely 6'4 I would say it gets a bit tight but it's super comfortable if your curious I will be putting up a video on the Macan turbo as well this Saturday👌🏻
for you to drive definetely, as a rear seat passenger it's very bad. I'm 6'1'' and there is no possible way to sit behind myself in the rear seat.

@Mr Snuffleupagus I think where I am, it is only once a week. Though now with covid, not sure if it is taking place....sort of a social opportunity/life style to add with the Porsche.
@Mr Snuffleupagus No, I was serious....if you bought your car there, you could come in for free car washes and they had an (complementary) omelette station. It might be that you could only avail yourself of it once a month....some other less prestigious brands offer free car washes, and some of the luxury brands do offer complimentary simpler foods, but only porsche in my city had/has an omelette station.
The 2020’s have been out for months. Macan is brand new great new design.
Macan is built in Germany, Cayenne is not. Macan has PDK, Cayenne is sequential auto. Macan wins.

I noticed this also. The Cayenne says it is built in Slovakia. The Macan says it is built in Germany. You can see it on the materials that come with the car and on the door jamb stickers.

I think the cayenne coupe will definitely fit your situation better and they look great
But you should check out the Macan I think it will surprise you it has more room than you'd think

You forgot to add that ONLY the Cayenne is available in a plug in hybrid for those that want a luxury SUV but saves on gas. One guy in my Cayenne group has been getting 102mpg with his plug in hybrid Cayenne

I have a 2017 Panamera 4 with the PCM that is in Cayenne - it is awful - has failed completely after two years. Pure junk.
