The algorithm recommended the Yosemite video that I extremely enjoyed and the recommendation of the beer journey now has me hooked on your videos… great job from your newest subscriber
13:08 - How incredibly blessed you are to have a father who is that enthusiastically impressed and appreciative of the things you do. It seems rare. Be sure to appreciate your parents.👍👍
That SMART train really has incredible views! It's genuinely picturesque. One of the prettiest rain rides in the country, and surprisingly on a commuter train. BART + Larkspur Ferry + SMART was definitely the scenic route. You could have also just taken a direct Flix/Greyhound bus directly to Santa Rosa. It would have been faster, but this was waaaaaaay prettier and more entertaining! I'm going to steal/repeat your brewery journey! It looked like a lot of fun. Hopefully all those trains and ferries run on the weekend at reasonable frequencies! 😁
I have wonderful memories of using the Larkspur and Sausalito ferries. Best memories are pulling out of SF at night at Christmas time, enjoying the view of the sparkling building lights while sipping a hot toddy. I highly recommend this during December. Edit: yes, they serve alcohol onboard the Larkspur ferry, at least they used to...
The SMART is an underrated gem - just wish the connection between the ferry and the train was better. It’s a bit of a hike for how short the turn around times usually are. Hope your dad enjoyed the Pliny!
You really showcased so many amazing aspects of bay culture here! I remember my 6hr wait getting Younger in 2020 a month before the pandemic started haha! Super dope you were able to share the love with your dad, he’s a lucky one! Keep up the amazing content Adam!
I've had younger three times, once we had a couple come from Brazil to get it, the next there was a group from Germany. Younger really is an experience more than just the beer. You end up spending 3-6 hours in line so you have time to interact with people, the anticipation only grows as you get further up the line. The city of Santa Rosa is beautiful as well. the Peanuts museum is there! One thing to note, they only allow 3 glasses of younger per customer, in the years I went they gave us a bracelet with three breakaway tabs and they took one each time you got a glass of Younger. You are free to consume their other beers however! I def recommend getting a sample flight, Russian River Brewing Co. is also known for their amazing Sour ales, Consecration is a must have!
Great video! Just paid a visit to russian river yesterday, will definitely be coming back next year to try to get my hands on the pliny the younger release
The Richmond-San Rafael bridge! Remember when the joints were getting old and it was dropping hunks of concrete from the top level to the bottom level?
I've been watching your videos for the last month or so. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this one. I lived in Santa Rosa for 25 years and experienced Pliny The Younger for many of those years. It's an amazing beer, the owners of RRBC are truly wonderful people and I'm glad you got to have some and share it with your dad. How long did you wait in line? You earned a new subscriber.
i went that same week! Ended up waiting in some pretty heavy rain, but totally worth it. Been going for three years in a row now, turned into kind of a tradition for my friend group
I’ve made that exact trip for that exact reason. Well…also to visit my Brother in Santa Rosa. But not without bringing back some beer from Russian River.
Hey Adam, good video. I don't normally click on low view videos, not entirely sure why, but I unusually clicked on this one and I'm glad I did. Keep doing your thing. This channel is good stuff.
SMART is a criminally pretty ride for a commuter train! I keep trying to find reasons to use it. This video basically gave me a reason. Definitely using it to go to that brewery in the near future! You can also take SMART to Lagunitas Brewing, but you'll definitely need to Uber from the Petaluma station. That was my original plan for a SMART trip!
I don’t know how familiar you are with the transit app, but I find it makes my life easier. I’ve done a trip from napa to San Jose and it kind of tells me what to do while traveling. Haven’t used it to go to Santa Rosa though. On another note, my dad prefers the elder over the younger! He’s also not much of a fan of other Russian river brews lol!
@@AdamDoesNotExist Honestly, they all have their weird mistakes and wrong data. If you do a journey multiple times you figure out the best way around yourself. My daily BART commute involves a transfer that Google says I shouldn't be able to make. I make it every time. I just have to walk to the correct end of the train before the last station to be at the exact door that's in front of the escalator. And I don't even need to run to make it. Google maps usually gives pretty reliable transit itineraries. But transit app is more detailed and you can make changes in your itinerary easier. Both are fine for basic journeys, and both have issues with the more complex transfers. But I think google maps does a better job of updating the live data about delays and missed connections on more systems than Transit App.
Lol I’ve done the Google trips public transit best route before….. my only issue was getting back (doing two 18hr trips within 48 hours was a challenge itself)
I haven't been on a SMART train since February 2020 and it was just as lovely as I remembered. There were little cafe stations on the train at that time (they even sold beer), but I didn't see one on your trip. Do you know if they've phased them out?
Thank you for showing the beauty of the Bay Area to the masses. I love all your videos and their deep dives into the microcultures the area has to offer.
@@tobeyg44 That is an incredibly flattering question. Not now, but hopefully some day. At this point I'm not sure how Patreon would be different than what I already do.
Great video!👍💯 I could of swore that when I saw you were wearing different clothes than what I saw in this video though the baseball cap that you wore and how you wore it was an exact match. I noticed at 2:57 you get to the SF Ferry Building at 7:36AM which is a bummer because *had you gotten there earlier like at least 20mins before, we would have been on the exact same ferry & SMART Train that I got on* heading to the same destination which for me also arrived late to SF and departed late from SF. I also had to hustle to make the connection to the SMART Train due to the ferry arriving at Larkspur late. The transfer process between the Ferry & SMART Train is the worse I've ever seen built so wrong. But the ride on the SMART Train roundtrip for me was wonderful & majestic! Again I also saw that long line for that beer (which I did not know nor realized at the time of the visit) at which to me still makes no sense. I still can't believe that people would line up for beer past 10AM late morning😂😂
Thank you! And what a coincidence. I thought I'd be able to make the train on either ferry, but now that I know more about that connection in Larkspur... And I agree, the SMART train is really great. I'm honestly surprised by how clean and nice it was. I did really enjoy this trip, despite everything that went wrong!
@AdamDoesNotExist Oh, and your parents are so adorable, I enjoyed seeing their reactions it was sweet & hilarious at the same time 😂 😅👩🦳👨🦳😊 I can definitely see a lot of resemblance between you and your dad😊
That’s so sweet I’m a Sonoma county local who takes RR for granted - not my style of beers but glad you were able to visit the original SR location they’ve got great pizzas too! Will have to try to take the Smart train down one day
Hey Adam, I recently subscribed because of an A's video of yours that popped into my recommended. I really enjoyed that video and since then have been watching all of them. You have great content, this one specifically hit close to home. I live in LA but my wife is originally from the bay area (Petaluma). She used to work down the street from the Russian River Brewery and had never cared to mention about Pliny the Younger or Russian River Brewery for that matter. After seeing that a near by liquor store carries Pliny the Elder I went to buy it and loved it. Next March I will be one of the many people waiting in line to try Pliny the younger! Keep up the great work.
They're the Rhone Everyday Offhours Pants. Perhaps my favorite fitting pants ever, BUT, they fall apart after a few weeks, and Rhone doesn't have any warranty. I had two pairs and both had the same issue, so I wouldn't recommend. If you find a worthy replacement, let me know!
What an exodus - glad the bottles survived! Now you need to come to New England to get the rest of the beers on the list. All those breweries are within a few hours of each other, and the drive is spectacular! Will definitely need a designated driver, though. Cheers! 🍻
totally agree, the air in marin is super nice. I hope I can one day afford to buy a house there! pliny the elder is great- I'd be curious to try the younger as well.
Haha. Just watching, but I discovered Heady Topper (and its double-Focal Banger) in Burlington a few years back, after all the locals said it was the best beer in the country (yeah, right!). But it kinda was waay up there. Same thing- it was unobtanium, unless you knew exactly where the weekly release was going to be, or you stumbled into the right pizzeria (me).
Next time hit me up. My brother lives in Santa Rosa and is a big Pliney fan. Of course, that would make for a boring video. Personally, I don’t get it. Do they make a red?? Fun video! Cheers 🍺
I don't know if my taste buds are sophisticated enough to truly understand. But to be able to try something that's amongst the best in the world is worth it to me!
"Somehow I am the only person on the train" That would be because few people use that train. It was a colossal waste of taxpayer money. While waiting for the train in Santa Rosa you are right by Aroma Roasters, an awesome coffee shop to hang out in though.
Dude it was painful to watch you take almost 4 hours to get to DT Santa Rosa!! Heck i’ll drive you there next time since I grew up there! But great Videos

We often cater our ferry trips (many times with a group) and eat and drink, take a few extra stops to get to the destination and just really enjoy.
Wow, I didn't even know SMART was a thing. Might have to give it a try! Love your videos.

Thank you for letting us know if there is bathrooms on trains and ferry's, buses? Very important information
these videos are a love letter to the bay and public transit. I love this content ✌🏽
Smart train is not used by Marin residents, stays nice and fresh, bus system is used to get to specific locations. The suitcase fit fresh.
