- Toyota took a while to introduce a second generation Wigo, and it tooks us even longer to get our hands on it. Vince checks out the PHP 729k 2024 Wigo 1.0G CVT to see if the improvements to the champ of the people's car class is ready for the challengers ahead.

Just got mine (G variant), and been using it for a while. All I can say is im very satisfied. I can only compare it to a XLE vios since it was the car I tried learning to drive and the G variant did not disappoint. The finish of the car even if it is a daihatsu is good. I don't see the downgrade from the philippine made Vios actually. The ride is smooth also. No vibration aside dun sa pag start ng car. NVH is also very low, which is very ok to me. Mas rinig ko nga mga rock noise na nag hihit sa vios compare sa wigo kapag nag slight offroad ako.
Power is there, akala ko rin mahina si 1.0 pero ok na rin pala kahi na 5 ka tao sa luob. Kaya2 mag overtake sa straight at walang problema sa akyatan. May delay lang cya sa pag acceelerate, dahil na rin cguro sa CVT ito pero pag mag pickup na sya para cyang slingshot.
Sa aircon, malamig, kahit 3 bar lang tas 2 yung sa fan malamig na sa tutok ng araw.
Slingshot? Ginagago mo ba sarili mo? O baka di kapa nakatry ng higher displacement na makina😂
@@sanmiguel5474 Nako nagsalita ang naka taxi, kahit mga bagong lower displacement naman kaya mag ganyan, or sadyang luma lang taxi mo?
Or baka lumaki na ulo mo na di kaya ma magalaw ng kotse mo?
Opinion ko to at yun ang na feel ko pag nag a-accelerate ako. Magaan lang ang wigo so kahit 1.0 pa yan, kaya yang kumadyot.
Di mo yan ma fefeel sa taxi mong 1.3 na cvt.
Very nice styling improvments. Good size. Been seeing many new ones on road in CDO area.

@@LeeYoo-tg6cm hi! Actually you almost don’t feel it if you are focused sa traffic and driving. It’s not naman to the level of recent high end cars but noticeably on the better side compared to older car models na nasakyan ko. (do take note I’m a new driver so take that info with a grain of salt) 😅
You'll Notice it cold start idle, but after that wala na. No vibration at all. Very comfortable. Cdo pod ko 🤟
@LeeYoo-tg6cm Nawala yung vibrating simula nung pina undercoat ko. But it's really normal that the car is vibrating HAHAHA there's no car that's not vibrating 🤣
Wigo 2024 is my first-ever car, and I love it.
how's the fuel consumption and noise suppression?

would be amazing if we also had its malaysian counter part, the perodua axia which is a super stripped down version with aircon and airbag for around php 220,000

if they introduce its daihatsu brethren here in the PH it should be called the Charade
This is called Daihatsu Alya already in Indonesia where its beaten in terms of sales by Honda Brio 😂
Daihatsu, hard pass until they settle their rigged safety tests. The tin can body alone will make you question it's rigidity in a crash. Simply opening the doors felt like it will fly off. Filipino people deserve better. Give us high quality vehicles, toyota. Dont just ride your popularity here. Chinese brand are creeping in, even with propaganda against them, they are selling. Just a matter of time til they dominate our roads.
If the chinese car brands champs after sales service, and car prices (which I think they champ already), then we would expect for more of them in the road..
Agree because filipino are so easy to fool by japanese brands because of its longevity in the market but needless they know they being lied to and giving them less value and qualitu foe their money.. because they know filipino are so fixiated with resale value and japanese brands but quality and safety wasnt there like they used to…they get too comfortable thats why some consumers are buying other brands. People need to be more open minded these days not just for the clout..
Exactly. But for sure, there are a lot of people who will turn a blind eye and stay with a mainstream brand like Toyota. Oh well, it's their lost.
@@MrArvirivera I agree…always blind eyes on when it comes to mainstream..is not all about that we all know that their cars are durable and last years down the road but small mind dont get it safety is the most number one they should be concern besides longevity of the car thats not going to save when accident happens…🤦🏻♂️
I owned wigo before, tested ko na yong tibay nya, nabagsakan ng malaking sanga ng puno, nagkayupi ng konti of course, pero hindi nabasag yong windshield.

I am Dutch. I think I prefer my Mirage. Average fuel consumption (easy driving) over 130.000 km was 1 liter on 22.5 km. I never, ever had 1 liter on 11 km. I think 1 liter in 16 was my worst. Vibrations are dampened by the counterbalance weights (Toyota lacks this). I also think that the standard equipment is better, especially in the top models (heated seats, a very good automatic airco, etc).
22.5km in Netherlands, try driving in the manila 😂 wigo can go 27km/L if in province/rural areas
this dude thinks 22.5 km/L is good already, my all new wigo can do 19.6km/L in city driving and 27.4 in nicer highways
Toyota should bring Agya GR Sport/Wigo GR-S here in the Philippines

Daihatsu is 100% owned by Toyota. Effective March 1, Toyota Executives will take over the operations of Daihatsu.
I'd rather pick the Spresso than the Wigo.
Not even comparable to Suzuki Celerio 2nd gen in terms of engine, transmission and hatch. The Celerio has 60:40 rear seats, more flexible space for passenger and cargo.

Price seems to be a bit steep a couple of thousands more you can have a Vios or a City.
Yeah, reason why I bought Vios back in 2019. Since you'll just add couple of thousands, then you'll have a sedan na.
Honestly yeah. At the G's price point it may be better to save up for a Vios, or the Raize E, even. At least that's what I would pick.
rather buy 2-3yr old vios instead of wigo.

Buying it seem like your putting your life on death’s door not hating on the car just stating the facts..specially with the issue that Daihatsu forged NCAP crash test for 30 years..jacking the price up but give you less value/quality and less safety for you and your family thats a big NO! Thats what happen when well known brands are too confident since they know people will still buy their car whatever they do to it giving the less value for their money..car company should stay on their game specially on safety and quality which really important for those consumers..
What do you expect from a city car? Driving 15-20 KPH in the city wont kill you bruh. It has a market to cater. Di ka pinipilit bumili.
PS: Its is safer to ride a wigo than taking "No to" PUJ "modernization".
definitely safer than 2 wheel transportation. and for the price, i feel safer in the new wigo than the spresso.
@@nye_dg nothing is safe when the car is being rigged couple of years thats basically lying to their customers this whole time..because people with close minded always stick to whatever brand that is popular on the market and less cheaper than the rest but like they say you get what you pay for..on top of that you didnt get all the money you paid for since the quality and safety of the vehicle is not even par from other brands on the market..thats why when you see a toyota several unit on the road get hit by other car they easily get crumpled or have heavy damage because of the lack of better chasis/frame work..thats not good for you and your family..not hating on the brand just stating the fact.

@@nye_dgI totally agree with @hyunwookang there's a reason why NCAP is here doing what they do, and for a manufacturer who founded themselves based on years of trust over the brand to forge results to prioritize profits over costs of redoing everything for safety is very concerning.
Based on your initial reaction, in my viewpoint, you seem to have trusted the brand too much to be affected that way. There are similar category city cars that have great and authentic safety ratings from similarly trusted brand with similar price range. Yes, di pinipilit bumili but for a fellow Filipino who trusts the brand too much, is unfair on their part. Besides, it's a 5-7 years commitment somewhere along that service life the car will be subjected to long travels along the highway in high speeds and for it to be subjected to recalls and falsified safety certifications isn't looking good at all.
What makes it disappointing is that the Chief Editor of Auto Industria, who claims to only review reputable vehicles is reviewing a recall and scandal plagued vehicle. 😢
The Wigo looks more like a China made car vs the real Chinese made cars 🤣🤣🤣
Not the same as suzuki spresso. S presso engine is refine and less vibration

Under powered for highway use
I drove the previous generation Wigo's aplenty in the province and i can tell you with absolute certainty that it does not feel underpowered at all
Better buy a much bigger,more powerful and much safer Vios,Brio or Geely GX3 PRO

For 729k there are far more interesting options in the used market than this. I honestly could not bring myself to own one of these even if Toyota gives to me for free. I'd just sell it and get myself an E39 5 Series.
This car is merely a point A to B car. Why compare it with a BMW?

people who buy this vehicle are in a budget. They just want something that gets them from A to B cheaply (good fuel economy & cheap maintenance). You can't get those on a BMW especially when it's an old one. Good luck with the maintenance cost. lol
