The first time I saw the movie, I almost cried in the scene when the next morning Lee was supposed to return to Hong Kong for ruining the rescue. After this scene, in the restaurant , they really worked together as a team. When Lee is about to be taken to the airport and Carter says to him "sorry, man" the look on Carter's face as Lee is driven to the airport
This scene symbolizes how US and China relations used to be. Times were good for both countries. Hopefully things can go back to the way they used to be.
Can we take a moment to appreciate how ahead of its time this movie was..? Like seriously, it's almost 25 years later, and Black/Asian unity is STILL something we seldom ever see come to fruition.. whether it be in real life or in our entertainment. Props to Hollywood for rolling the dice on this concept all those years ago. Hope we can see more of something similar in the future.
Agreed. It proved that nobody cares what race the stars are a good movie is a good movie and will do well if it's actually a good movie. Rush Hour had Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker together they were already set for a classic film.
Black/Asian unity has to be most snowflake think I've ever heard about this movie. Nobody cared about the racism you're probably obsessed with back then.
@@NobelB24 &@joncena168 NICE! Growing up white with olive skin and having some black and some Asian friends was cool too. Many couldn't guess what I was kinda like Thornie from Super Troopers (I'm just a man with Polish & Italian ancestry). Watching my friends make Carter/Lee jokes was like watching a movie. Tons of South Park jokes in the group too.
Man, I love this movie. Used to watch as a kid on TV whenever it was on. One of Jackie's best performances for sure. And the snip-snap repartee between these two is just awesome.
Jackie Chan has been in a lot of movies and is constantly filming, just not so much in the West, he says he doesn't like Hollywood I believe since it's always stereotypical funny Asian roles. He's been doing more projects at home in China and around Asia - in a few Indian and Hong Kong flicks last year and micro-managing a Kpop group. I think The Foreigner would be one of the first movies in awhile that has caught international attention especially in the US/UK and he's broken out of the comedy relief acts normally placed on him. He's amazing when he does more serious roles like in the recent Police Story.
Fuck man I wish I watched this in the theater I can only imagine how to theater room reacted . They don't come close to make Classics like this anymore
I wished this scene lasted longer when I was a kid. It’s always been my favorite in the whole movie. Nobody can make a movie like this anymore, not in this day and age - so bring on Rush Hour 4!
This scene is freaking genius! Two cultures meeting eachother by dance. Tucker brings the soul and Chan brings the karate moves. Tucker tries to get Chan to feel the soul but Chan doesn't really get it. So tucker flips it over when Chan does his own moves by really giving it a go, and immediatly they click. It's like they are bonding, as you can see in the end scene by them dancing it away in the freaking street lol why are people fighting when they could just dance it away?
I'd say Rush Hour is one of the best films ever made.I don't care what other people say about this film.I've watched all of the 3 films a thousand times and I'm gonna keep watching them from time to time like Star Wars because they're all great films that never get old.
@@Kevinn679 Absolutely not. Idk what my parents were thinking lol. I'm almost 30 now and even though I turned out just fine my pops took us to watch it at the time and it was so packed that we sat on the staircase of the movie theatre. this is the best scene in the entire movie. i watched the whole move last night just to witness this scene, been stuck in my head for weeks and finally got around to it haha! what it isnt what it isnt good for. love the way he sings it haha
Get the casting director of this movie to do every single movie from now on. No one would have expected these two polar opposites to be so good, but rush hour did it.
this is Coen brothers level of directing right there. -the way Jackie looks back while getting out of the car when Tucker is turning on the radio. -the way Tucker looks at Jackie while he sings -the way Jackie lets his head down and wants to come back with his own flavor with something he knows best or better than Tucker. -the way Tucker talks to Jackie while trying to apprehend the gun (I wonder how much of this was goofing around versus scripted). All of Big Lebowski, safe for Jesus the character, was heavily scripted. and all this with the backdrop of an LA night and a clearly separated day and night cycle making it seem like this all went down within a few days or a week. god I love that movie. Definitely one of my all-time feel-good movies. This scene also reminds me of the boat scene with SS Minow Johnson between Tucker and Rodriguez. f**** what an awesome franchise. the look on Carter's face as Lee is driven to the airport
