There’s more to life than spending money on machinery, especially now that farming isn’t paying as well as it should be. Have you bought a telehandler with your own money?
Last week was good for hay and brought in the first field. From last year I ditched the contractor and do it all myself now having invested in a NH square baler. Clever bits of kit and this time only missed one bale with the knotter working well. I think good maintenance and understanding is a must. I might consider a round baler at some stage as well.
as for your comment about no one to take on the family farm, In my experience it's not easy in the first place as young man say in your 20's to find a young lady who is genuinely interested in farming those that are lucky enough to say marry a farmer's daughter and have children generally end up having a son or daughter that is keen on farming but if your someone who ends up marrying someone from outside farming then it's seems to be less common for there son's / daughter's to go into farming and then of course there's thing's like divorce which obviously ends up screwing up the family unit and everyone tends to end up going there own seperate way.......a much different world we live in today than it was in previous generations. we've been haymaking for the last couple of weeks......we've baled 150 round bales and 120 big square bales yesterday
My husband and I sometimes play the lottery with $2. We always complain afterwards that someone won our retirement again!! LOL My son and I visited Scotland in 2000, and we had a lovely lunch at a pub of haggis, neeps and tatties with an Irn Bru. We loved it. It's no different than eating sausage really. Mow on!!!
I'd invest in a new milking parlour it's your cows that make you money, I don't mean this to be nasty but your parlour has had its day yes its functioning but how long do you spend in there 4hrs if you could cut that to 2 saves labour etc plus a new parlour would be better for cow health and comfort which helps more yield,I wanted to carry on our dairy farm but my uncle pushed me out 25 yrs ago ,oh and we had a parlour exactly like yours great videos rich
Great video looked lovely hay in that field and yes was my favourite job too, scratch cards my son sometimes gets me a random £1 one and have always won more on them £5 other day but it’s not something I do allot either , good you all enjoyed the haggis I don’t like it but partner does 😊
Remember the folk song 🎵 One man went to mow went to mow and meadow. Two men and a dog went to mow and meadow 😂 Interesting vblog. Next year, Haz will be mowing the grass for you. It's a pity you can not have a Hay Day at New House Farm like Farmer P has. Mrs Cornocks Tea Party in the garden will generate income 🎉
No hay weather in Northern Ireland yet! Some guys have tried it but have the fire brigade waiting in the wings!! We all need the sun to make hay successfully 😎 ps.how come Charlotte Ashley was able to buy a telehandler with her youtu.be fortune!!???😂
It wasn't SFA after all, so if you invest that eight quid wisely Richard in about fifty years you might be able to buy that Merlo Telehandler which by then will be second or third hand.🤣
It always worries me when a farm is sold what is the land going to be used for hopefully to continue as a farm, but the thought that it will end up as a Housing Estate or a New Town would be shocking we need British Farms to stay and feed the people in our Green and Pleasant Land not ending up being a Brownfield SIte.🧐
Isn’t it more likely to be combined with a larger farm, and be contract farmed? I also read that hedge funds are buying up farmland for the tax advantages
Spend a tenner on £1 cards get a £1 back if your lucky. Save the winnings back and put it into Euromillions and take 50p home for the Xmas pot. Wait for a good jackpot of 50 million above
Honestly rich it's worth trading in a tractor for a telehandler with a pickup hitch. You'll wished you had done it years ago.
Definitely 👍

It is good to see you mowing grass and making hay.

If you can afford a tele handler get one
RICHARD!! Turn the card over and read!!!!!!!!!!!
When I was 21. My mother bought me 21 scratch cards. I won £21 😂😂
Don't ever get a winning scratch card wet. I put a £40 winner into the microwave and it caught fire within 10 secs. £40 down up in flames 😂😂😂😂
I wonder how many people were shouting ‘See reverse for play instructions’? 😂
everyone 🙈 You can tell i never buy them😂
Mr Richard. Don't gamble stick to milking the cows and driving your tractors
