    Seeing bailers lay bails is great... so is your support for Hazza on the farm! I'm sure Jack will find his own path..... well done to you and the missus for raising two champs!

    Harry is becoming a competent young farmer. Unless you are working a huge farm or are doing contract work, a big tractor is a waste of money and fuel. You are so fortunate to have so many tractors suitable to do the jobs on your farm.

    We have a 1972 Deutz 55 hp still going strong. Mainly used for fertilizer spreading, chainharrowing and tedding with a 5.5 meter tedder. Perfect for the job. Our main tractor is a 1998 85hp New Holland 6635, does the "bigger " Jobs 😊

    The older kit is brilliant for jobs like this, for me the sound of a 135 always takes me back to my childhood, the farm near to us had one as their only tractor (this was back in late 90's eatly 2000's) you could hear it trundling around regularly became part if the soundtrack of my childhood, i later used it to cart hay, sadly the farm got sold off, not sure where that old tractor ended up

    I guess since you’re in a hay fried, Henry could fix it with hay.

    Interesting vblog. I used to love hay making on my friend small holding. It was only 30 acres. Tedding with a Massy tractor happy days and a old fashioned bailer. All the best from Worcester 🎉

    We're getting our hay in, too, in NY state. The weather has been MUCH better this year. We usually get first cutting in around the first week or two in June. Last year, it rained so much that first cutting of horse hay was the beginning of August. THAT was scary! Hay is a bit late this year, but is much nicer than last year's crop.

  • @geraldbeard856

    haymaking is simple when the weather is good ........a nightmare when the weather isn't right. personally i don't agree with the scheme that says you can't cut your hay till after 5thJuly.......you have to make hay when the weather is right not when the callender tells you to make it

    It looks like you’re gonna have to buy Harry Baller for he can do the hay at the next show. Doesn’t need to be very new. Maybe you can find one out farm cell farm cell go on auctions get cheap one and a new rake or used rake.

    First hay of the year? I’ve seen you loading round bales wrapped in plastic. Isn’t that hay?

    • @DANFORTHPAPE1
      @DANFORTHPAPE1 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That’s silage. There’s no need to wrap hay because it’s dried out.

    • @mula2626
      @mula2626 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DANFORTHPAPE1 isn’t silage what gets chopped up and stored in a shed.?

    • @DANFORTHPAPE1
      @DANFORTHPAPE1 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@mula2626 Hay is preserved by being fully dried out, which is why it takes about a week to dry in the field before it can be baled. Silage is preserved grass that is basically pickled. It is harvested when it has more moisture than hay. It can either be chopped and stored in a shed or baled. Either way silage has to be wrapped in a layer of plastic so that anaerobic conditions are created so that acid is produced which pickles the grass.

    • @mula2626
      @mula2626 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@DANFORTHPAPE1 thank you for taking the time to explain that to me. Much appreciated.

    • @DANFORTHPAPE1
      @DANFORTHPAPE1 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@mula2626 Sure. One thing I forgot to say is that the plastic keeps out the oxygen, which creates the anaerobic conditions. This allows the sugar in the grass to be fermented which produces the acid that preserves the grass.
