In my experience the harder blue compound cactus are better for rear motor buggies. The lower grip on the rear makes the car drive more naturally, less fighting to get the front to turn in.

Actually the stock radio was quite nice to use and the car ran fine… I only adjusted the exp but actually given how the car lacks front grip it did not really need it ..

This was really interesting to me, I just started considering running RC cars indoors on a carpet track, take note I did not say the word "racing", ha ha, I have very little talent driving RC cars...
I just went and looked at the track and the next session is two weeks from no, so I'm in a hurry a bit... I can't afford to invest in a new racing buggy, I would have wanted an X-Ray XB2C, but for now I will take my old Tamiya TRF201 into use, I will need full new electronics in it and proper wheels and tyres, it's all very new to someone who is more like an "Enthusiast-basher"...
Your video series is really interesting and helpful.

I'm impressed by this TA rtr especially the quality of that steering servo. Didn't think I would be. New shock CF towers, new oil, tires & it's a stock class racer. Didn't say winner, noticed little acceleration but it pulled the jumps fine.
Is there a way to mount a fan on a rear motor rtr, or that car besides Shoe Goo? & an open stock rtr Rx channel to power it? I'm going to buy that Rx box alone for my Schumacher if it fits. I have been looking for a backup car. I'd buy the kit version tho, if I don't go 4wd buggy. 1/2 the fun of RC imho is building/wrenching imho.
FYI for wider front stance , use the thicker front hex adapters from on road. Good vid as always but now I have to go look up the rtr motor, esc etc specs. TA in the old days came very close w/their on road rtr cars. Doubt you missed all the exposed Phillips screws in the TT01-2 😂😂😂. I 100% agree w/going w/slightly harder tires or firm inserts, unless you can shave 20-25% of the weight off any RTR. 👍vid. I haven't run rear motor since my original RC10.

Once a good combination is found that work on a track everyone tends to follow … however this car is rear motor where as most were mid motor so I can afford to use harder tyres on rear to have better grip balance

so .....going for the budget end of racing, you change the receiver (for no reason other than you prefer you own handset) then spend another £30 on tires. Thats on top of the RB10 price of £299. Starts to get expensive doesnt it ?
After 35Years of RC cars Im still amazed how this hobby continues to shoot itself in the foot ! You are lucky that you have a great set up with clubs in your area. In the southwest Uk the hobby is very small. When years ago all the bigger towns had RC clubs
But Still, great work at promoting RC and the channel.Easy to to watch without the drama of some better known YT's ( from up north)

Thanks for your comments … I guess it is hard to define the line between value and racing… when compared to the cars it was competing against I think it did ok … we talk more about it in video due to be released on Thursday

    • @mikepembo8297
      @mikepembo8297 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Exactly why I'd always recommend getting 2nd hand kit over RTR kit for any newcomer. It's fine for car park bashing but as soon as it comes to racing there's usually a need to:
      Get a better charger
      Swap NiMH with LiPO
Swap brushed ESC and motor with brushless
      Change tyres
Buy additional components like ARBs, different toe plates etc
Getting something 2nd hand when a good racer upgrades to a newer chassis or component is an excellent way to side step a huge amount of cost while still being competetive.
Then again, there's newcomers who think putting £1000's on a credit card and getting the best kit will make them the best racer out there - it simply won't and never does. Almost always this results in them selling up and moving onto a new class or hobby - their loss can be your gain 2nd hand!

This whats wrong with rc car racing. Dad buys kid rtr for xmas. goes to club and then gets every anorak at said club telling him exactly what you have just put !
And how many kids or newbs really want somebody elses cast offs ? The clubs are full of know it all bell ends with brca cards !
Popalong are doing it good and go watch some of their grass roots vids. To me thats what RC cars are all about.

With the various class we have run we tried to promote an affordable alternative … also be mindful that there is a difference between going there to race and going there to win.
