    John, i may never move to HHI,but if i do you will be my agent. Visit HHI at least once a year for the past 25 years. We live in Spartanburg for 27 years, from NJ but lived in NY. Love South Carolina. Love your videos.

      If you go to www.beaufortcountysc.gov there is a tax calculator there which explains it a little better..If you are over 55 you get a homestead exemption which lowers taxes even further

      That is exactly right, thanks Joe. In a nutshell, there are two property tax levels. SC residents will pay 4% times an assessed rate, and non-residents who will pay 6% times an assessed rate. The properties are assessed every five years. It comes out to about 6 tens of 1% for the 4% rate and it is about 1% of the sales price for the non-resident. It is just easier to base these calculations on a sales price, rather than into assessed values, etc.

      @@TheJohnWeberTeam Any idea how much more it is in Jasper County for resident and non-resident? I'm currently building a home in Sun City North but probably won't be a full time resident for a year so.

      @@pwrmacbob Sorry for the delay. I would check with Jasper county for exact numbers. If you don't claim SC as your domicile, You have to pay the 6%. But I would check with them.
