    My strategy, is just to park in a place I think is a good spot, wait for someone to drive by, ask them where to find arrowheads. Sometimes they're out lookin for arrowheads like me. And God bless Nelson! He's a good man

    So glad I stumbled upon your page. I grew up in Jackson County along the Pascagoula River and knew of places to search & Owned a farm in Stone county for a time along Bluff Creek. Seems as though every time it rained I could walk down the hill to the barn and Bammm there would be a new addition. I now live in Texas and have run across a couple of little gems but nothing like back home in Ms. Keep up the fun & I'll be watching your other videos ;-)

    I like that definition of the "nuting stone" being used as a platform for pressure flaking. Flint knappers use a rubber pad with a notch to allow the flaker to travel and the flake to run. Some say its a drill platform. Could be all the above.

  • @stanlindert6332
    @stanlindert6332 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I absolutely agree with the nutting stone being an anvil/fire making tool. That dimple made a place to put a bit of leather than lay on the point and drive flakes.

    We live in an area of northern Michigan where "nutting stones" show up from time to time. I have a very large one about the size of a child's head. The place where mine was found, I think two others very similar were also found. Some say they're just natural caused but I'll never believe that. Mine has about 8 of those rounded out places that were obviously made on purpose. Great video

    Wow ! TQ, iron rock and agate what variety . So much in a small area , I bet that knoll is loaded with artifacts. Wonder why that Tallahatta is so well preserved , you could really see the serrations in detail ? The acid level must not be real bad in that area. Also some of the styles were a little different that what you find sometimes. Great job and thanks for sharing!

    • @HeartbreakerRelics
      @HeartbreakerRelics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Ron! I think it's just a really good grade of TQ for the most part. If you'll notice in the glamour shots one of the TQ points (that we didn't film) is in two pieces. That's the way it came out of the ground. There was a poor quality grain in it and it had just dissolved over the millennia. GL&HH Ron!

    I didn’t get to read through all of the comments, but I was curious: approximately how old are these relics? 200 years old? 1000 years old? Also, what native tribes r these? Thanks!

      Thanks for the question. If you'll notice in the video (for instance at 7:41 th-cam.com/video/r-BzEp9wMwE/w-d-xo.html) the graphic gives the age of some of the points. They are much older than 100 years old and more like 3000 to 9000 years old. This was way before the tribes as we know them. This should help explain it. th-cam.com/video/DGo9EIqTVtU/w-d-xo.html

    The nutting stone explanation is very interesting. I have something my mother found many, many years ago that could be explained by that. I'd love to send you guys a few photos of this piece to get your thoughts.

    If I post a picture of the scraper I found on my TH-cam community page thing could you look at it and help me figure out what it's called and how old it is?? Pretty please lol it's driving me nuts I can't figure out what it is I'm not finding anything else like it online or in these vids it was found in northwest Arkansas

      Thanks for posting it. To be honest it could be anywhere from 400 years old to 12,000 years old. "Scrapers" were used for different purposes across all cultural periods. I'm not aware of anyway do differentiate any of them. In fact I've never seen any work where anyone has tried to. Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me (and that won't be hard to find lol) may know something else about them. I have many similar to this and like you early on when I was finding them I had a hundred questions about them.

      @@HeartbreakerRelics I need to get some good books. 😂 thank you for taking a look at it I appreciate it. and I also didn't know I figured like most points that certain scrapers had names too I have not seen one like the one I found it's awesome.. You seem pretty knowledgeable to me but there will always be more to learn about the native people and their tools and weapons.

    How did y’all know where to look? All I see is the ground and then a bunch of holes with arrowheads in them! I’ve got 1,000+ acres in Texas with 3 miles of mesa and a dry wet weather creek. I have no idea where to identify the proper spots..

    • @HeartbreakerRelics
      @HeartbreakerRelics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In our area we use a formula, high flat ground just out of the flood plain = the possibility of artifacts. it's a lot different from Texas. Look for the chips and flakes. Where you find those you'll find points. Start at this point in the video again. I try to explain it a little better, for our area anyway. Maybe it'll help th-cam.com/video/r-BzEp9wMwE/w-d-xo.htmlp.
