I was rather surprised to see a 2012 build for under $400k in Gilbert. I was expecting these home to be built pre-2000. I was looking at an income calculator that said for a $2000 per month mortgage payment, the income would be just under $80k per year. I think that would be reasonable for a husband and wife with decent paying jobs.

People move to those areas because it's safer than the low income areas like Phoenix. It may be affordable in the city, but not necessarily safe.
