In the book, was Harry failing Umbridge’s class on purpose, or was Umbridge attempting to make Harry fail her class? Either way, the savagery he gave her in the end was perfect.
Not only was Umbridge trying to make Harry fail, but also trying to suppress the fact that Voldemort has returned. Mainly because Fudge was under the paranoid belief that Dumbledore was raising a wizard army through DADA classes to usurp the former's position at the Ministry.
Commodus(Joequin Phoenix) in Gladiator. Not only did he get what he deserved by Maximus but while Maximus was carried out of the stadium in honor, Commodus was left alone to rot on the Colosseum ground completely alone. Loved it!
Same here I'm not the biggest HP" fan but the day I went to see the movie in theaters,there wasn't a single soul who didn't applaud when Umbridge got her just dessert. It felt like I was at a concert 😅

Delores Umbridge got a better comeuppance in the book. After her "experience" with the Centaur she was returned to the castle. She was twitchy and did not speak to anyone. Peeves then chased her from the castle, Which professor MCgonagal did try halfheartally to stop.
Ed Rooney was a maturity test for the audience. When you are a teenager, it is funny to see Rooney get beaten up. After growing up, Rooney is more sympathetic and Ferris is exactly the kind of asshole who needs to get caught by people like Rooney.
We can all agree that Umbridge is just… the absolute worst. Like I’m pretty sure even Bellatrix thought “I’m a sadist but this bitch is downright unpleasant.”
Umbridge's comeuppance may be more sever than people realize. According to mythology, centaurs are known for abducting and r@ping women. In the books, after she was rescued from the centaurs, she was in shock and seemed to be suffering from PTSD, and it was stated that no one would speak of what happened to her. So going off centaur mythology, it's plausible to think that that's what happened to her too.
Smug characters facing karma feels just as good, if not better, than when regular villains face it. 😊 Must be the vicarious feeling of wishing this to happen to the real life people they remind us of.😉
You could argue that Umbridge got what she deserved twice- the woods as mentioned in the video, and earlier in the movie when the Weasley Twins disturb the OWL exams with fireworks

First, she did literally send Dementors to suck out Harry's soul, so she is a bad person. However, (based on the book) Umbridge was rescued from the centaurs by Dumbledor, and she had no injuries, but was catatonic unless you make hoof clopping sounds. Our myths of centaurs have them as rapists. Breeding any and all human females they caught. Umbridge showed psychological trauma that clearly fits a rape victim. So, did she get what she deserved...? Hard to say.
Nah, Hans Gruber was too charming. He wasn't a hate sink, he got class. LAPD Chief Dwayne Robinson was def smug though, and he unfortunately never got comeuppance.
One of my personal favorites is Marty Wolf in Big Fat Liar (2002). Paul Giamatti plays the role so well and who doesn't love seeing Frankie Muniz be a clever kid

The movie watered Umbridge's cruelty down, in the books Harry and Hermione asked if she could go first and they follow her in the forbidden forest as they didn't have wands and she said "the ministry places a higher value in my life than yours" and told them to go ahead first, in the movie they ther in as if she was protecting them from the Centaurs and also took away many of her insults and attacks. Also movie exclude stuff like her ordering four aurors to attack Minerva when she tried to save Hagrid whom she was trying to sack in the middle of the night when no one was looking. Movie Umbridge is nothing compared to book Umbridge.

If Paramount decided to remake "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" Senator Lindsey Graham & Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh would be perfect shoe-ins for Ed Rooney as they deserve every bit of torture that Rooney receives.
After she was Teacher (and other things) in howgarts, she backs to her old job, but in deadly hollows she became a mud blood hunter (even uses dementors on her interrogations), after harry and cía gets the horrocrux than she get as ko, in the end of the war was send to azkaban for false accusations over half blood and muggle born mages

Commander Krill; "Under Seige" You could say this guy is a cross between Benedict Arnold and Osama Bin Laden.
Against Fargus- the use of curse’s I’m all about it. Let my enemies bleed and and feel pain for a change. Bullies deserve no quarter. I thought it was pretty cool.

You forgot Mrs. Carmody (Marcia Gay Harden) from The Mist. Umbridge should have easily been first, but if Mrs. Carmody was included, I'd say it's a toss up. Very disappointing you overlooked Marcia's character.
Although he wasn't smug for a lot of his screen time, he sure was smug stabbed Maximus and described to him how his family died screaming. I think Commodus belongs on this list somewhere.
