Nice looks like you know how to kick over a 650r and I can't wait to try this swap I picked up a running 69 ct90 recently and thought about swapping my ssr110 engine into it but I've also thought of trying a predator from harbor freight
Thanks Mitchell! I'd assume you'd need to fab some motor mounts for a foreign swap. Also, don't forget to align the front and rear sprockets when test fitting an engine to check fitment. Cheers,
Hi there just watched your video and I must commend you on a nice on that CT90! Well done. I’m in South Africa and I just bought a Honda Super 90 Barn Find Bike. The engine is too far gone for a restoration but the frame with wheels is very much intact. So I’m going to try to bring the old bike back to life. I wanted to ask if you know if the Chinese Lifan 125cc or 110cc engine for Honda Super Cub will drop into the 1967 model Honda Sport 90 or S90 frame?
Thanks Jacques! I haven't had a Super 90 but it looks like others on forums have swapped in engines. Here's a forum that lists frame mods for fitting the Lifan 140: www.advrider.com/f/threads/honda-s90-motor-swap.1614369/ Cheers,
@@huxmoto Thank you for your reply! I have seen that thread and I’m going to get a 140cc Lifan motor to do the transplant. It’s a project I’m looking forward to. 🇿🇦
Does the hi/lo transmission still work? And Is there anyway you could make a list of parts to do this engine swap and put it into the description? I'm getting a 69 in July and might really like to do this.
There is not a high/low gear. I purchased a Lifan 125 semi-auto and pieced together the rest. Just know you'll likely need some carb adjustment and needle swapping to get it right (they seem to run way too lean from china).
Very cool! Any reason why you choose a lifan over a '85 125m.. It bolts right in, connects to the stock airbox and has the hi/lo sub trans. I'm thinking of putting one in my '78. How does changing from stock affect resale? Personally I think it's an upgrade, some say it isn't!
Thanks! I think it was an ebay find. Quasco or something maybe? I had it for another project a while back and changed my mind on using it, so it was laying around and needed a home (on the CT in this case, hah). Cheers,
Not sure either is what you're looking for if speed is a priority. This came to me as a frame and not much else, so OEM engine was not an option. Cheers,
Wow I love this!!
Thanks James!
Nice looking build!
Thank you!
Gorgeous! I want!

Sweet bike! How much did the powdercoating cost and where. In the PNW building a CT too! :D
Very tasteful

got a link for the led indicator and brake lights? and howd you go mounting the motor at the bottom? did you use the lifan mount bracket
Where did you get the header pipe ?
Sorry AShaw, I don't recall. Do a Lifan 125 exhaust search. There are a few affordable options out there. Cheers,
Cheers buddy.

Just found one for the right price so I plugged it in. Cheers,
You put that onto a 12v system or is it still on the 6volt?
this is a 12 volt system that comes as part of the Lifan setup.
Dude nice ride. Restoring my dads 1977. Where did you get the tail light? I see you mounted the engine switch on the lower handle bars. Nice job.

How fast does it go with the 125?
I've sold it and not sure what top speed was. These aren't fast by design. haha.
Awesome build, what exhaust is that?
It's a cheapo aftermarket but I wrapped the pipes with titanium wrap prior to install. Search Lifan 125 exhaust online.
Does the engine bolt directly up? Do you have to mod anything?
The Lifan does bolt up differently. There are multiple engine adapters as well as footrest adapters available though.
Top speed ?
You won't get burned from the exaust?
No, there's a fiberglass wrapped portion under the heat shield. It won't get warm enough at all anywhere near the leg.
What lights did you use?
Unfortunately, It's been a while. Sorry I can't help with this one.
Did the wiring harness come with the motor?
Some Lifan/motor kits come with everything. I ordered this harness separately.
What fork set is tht?
I ordered reman forks. They're available on fleabay or shamazon.
am I the only one that put a 125 Lifan motor on my bike and feel like it's slower than a 110? Why does this motor feel like a turd?

Ima copy your build if thats cool
Of course. Copy away!
Do you retain the low gear these used to have?
Nope. I bought a neglected frame without an engine, so opted for the Lifan (semi-auto with no gearing aside from whatever sprockets you choose).
