The MiG-23 has never been an aircraft that has caught my attention. Fate and some of the others have been putting a lot of hours recently and eventually convinced me to buy this premium variant and give it a try. It is actually a lot of fun and glad I finally gave the MiG-23 a fair chance.

I understand and recognize that the cockpit is what some would call "turquoise". I refuse to recognize the color "turquoise" as a real color. So my question is this... is the cockpit Green or Blue??

The Soviets loved that blue. At their Officer's Mess at Monino...they painted the same color...coined "Soviet Blue" on the inside. The sad point was the building was a 17th Century Chateau with very intricate wood carving on the interior...and the slapped the paint on it.
BTW I know it is unlikely...but visiting Monino would be a worthy visit. It has one of the best Air Museums I have ever seen. (I visited in January 1993)

Good news Bo! The AV-8A isnt a great turnfighter either! In fact…the AV-8A can barely turn, and that’s _with_ the vectored thrust *and* airbrakes. I’d mention flaps too, but those kinda eject themselves from the airframe if you’re going any faster than a school bus on a freeway.

Best turn fight I've ever seen in war thunder, good job Bo.
One of the better aspects about this aircraft is that it has a J-band radar. At its own br, aircraft that can detect J-band locks with their RWR are few and far in between, and even in uptiers, that number doesn't grow very substantially, meaning most targets you lock have no clue that there's an R-24R heading for them until it's already in their cockpit. This includes other MiG-23's, interestingly enough.

the Mig23ML is THE best tier 7 premium in game, not even close, i love the Mig23s
although i don't have the ML, i do have the german MLA(which in game is the same plane), it is one of my favorite jet in game, even after i got the Mig29G, F-16C and all that fancy new stuff, i still fly it all the time

After a match of picking out friendlies and not getting hits on the enemies the ACM decided to go for the target that was most likely to be a hit - the one parked in a hanger at the airfield.

May I dare say, I think the MiG-23ML is the best support fighter in a up tier in tgmhe game, because I've been having an absolute blast with it the past few days with like 90 percent of my games being uptiers, many of those games were 3 kills or more.

Funfact: In Air RB you could skip the ~20 seconds rearmament countdown by J-ing out when you had stopped at the airfield. Although this trick could only be used if your plane is in pristine condition (meaning no aircraft model appearing on the bottom left corner). Hope that helps.
Bo, I recommend you use the r24T for dogfights, at close range it completely ignores flares
Is that for each plane variant? I see Bo’s radar is different than mines on the MiG 23ML but I have the same jet the premium one if that helps

I only tested this for the MiG-23ML, and the r24T is better in dogfights, although if your are staying a sniper stick with r24R. The R-13M’s also ignore flares but they are rear aspect so not as good as r24t

A bit underrated plane, yet one of, if not the best premium jet at the moment. Tough I don't have it (my brother does), and I don't have the nerves to fly out my tech-tree one, bare stock, with 2 R-13Ms (i'm no charity to be a free kill for some bastard/valet-warrior)!
Sometimes I play top tier jets just to remind myself how hard it is. Well done.

For the mig 23 next time. Make sure to have a key bind to manually have your wings swept out to 0 percent to improve your retention and turn rate. If available for this aircraft, (I only say that because I fly the MLA) I fly it with 20m of fuel and a drop tank. I never have fuel issues. In that fight you could have dropped the extra fuel to make the weight difference not as great.

Ok I’m a weird person. But in my head, I always am thinking of the music from the History Channels Dogfights series when Bo and the gang play high tier jets.
I love how you marked plane as part of the Czechoslovak People's Airforce. I've always been fascinated by that country's history from the times of the Bohemia up to today. They had one of the most effective military of the Warsaw Pact outside the Soviet Union.
As for why the Soviet Union painted their cockpits turquoise green is because it's one of the colors that are the least straining for the eyes on long periods of time. This allowed their pilots to stay on alert and have their eyes in good shape during long flights and in combat. The cost is entirely irrelevant. Paint is paint. It's for the same reason that the work uniforms of nurses and surgeons are about the same green in hospitals. It's to keep everyone alert and allow the parts of the eye that allow us to see the color red to rest for a while when the personnel is doing a surgery.

Just why you don't manually decrease wing sweep when dogfighting? 23s don't loose speed with fully extended wings and get better turn performance. Auto wing sweep is optimized for the best speed, not dogfighting capabilities
